59th operating temple
Dedicated: 21 Aug 1999

Jesus Christ, Appearances, Antemortal
Deuteronomy 34:10
And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,
Helaman 9:18-41
As we prepare for General Conference let's remember that the words of prophets will be fulfilled. (See DC 1:37-38)
*It isn't always easy to stand up for what you believe. What do you do to stand strong and defend your beliefs?
-Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson, General Young Women's President:
"Members live in such an atmosphere of avoiding offense, that we sometimes altogether avoid teaching correct principles. Of course we should use sensitivity, common sense and understanding of the plan, to be bold and straightforward, but if we don't teach true doctrine - and teach it clearly - the world will teach those we love Satan's lies."
DC 138:45-60
*How has your appreciation for temples grown since reading these verses?
- scripturestudy: "I love everything about the temple. The peace and joy I feel from being in the house of my Lord and that I can serve those who have passed on and they can receive of eternal blessings. I also believe that as I help those on the other side of the veil that they will help me and my family here. We are becoming one with our Savior and each other as we serve each other and do temple work and are sealed to each other eternally. I love everything about the temple. vs. 56 - 'Even before they were born, they, with many others, received their first lessons in the world of spirits and were prepared to come forth in the due time of the Lord to labor in his vineyard for the salvation of the souls of men.' I love this, that we knew each other in the premortal life and we were tutored and taught and were determined to do our part in mortality."
General Conference
Perfect Love Casteth Out Fear
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
"Christ's perfect love overcomes temptations to harm, coerce, bully, or oppress. Christ's perfect love allows us to walk with humility, dignity, and a bold confidence as followers of our beloved Savior. Christ's perfect love gives us the confidence to press through our fears and place our complete trust in the power and goodness of our Heavenly Father and of His Son, Jesus Christ."

Instead of turning on the fan this morning when I got up, I turned up the space heater in the dining room.

After scriptures and prayer with James I read a chapter from "Mind Games" to him. I then prepared the steak for tonight's meal and put it in the crockpot.

Kaeli, my visiting teacher came for a visit around 10 a.m. She brought her kids, Natalie and Guy with her. Guy is walking now and he did a little exploring. Natalie knows where the Barbie's are and went straight upstairs. At one point she wanted me to come up and help her put dresses on all of the Barbie's. We ran out of Barbie's before we ran out of dresses and this was a little upsetting to Natalie. Kaeli and I had a good visit. I enjoyed having them come and see me.

After they left James and I had lunch and a rest time. I also worked on my blog before starting the mashed potatoes for tonight's meal.
Around 5 p.m. James and I packed half the steak and gravy, mashed potaotes and corn up and took it to the Scott's. We visited with them a few minutes before leaving. Millie is able to use one of her arms and was in good spirits tonight. I always enjoy visiting with her.
We came home and enjoyed our dinner. James took a Razr ride out to pick up his camera at Chocolate Lake and saw some elk.

For F.H.E. we listened to Elder Christofferson's conference talk about warning our neighbor. We then watched Heartland, "Summer's End."

Not sure what they are doing or where they are,
but I love these two!

Alma 3:20-4:4
* According to Alma 3:26-27, what reward comes to those who obey the Lord?
* What consequence comes to those who do not follow the Lord?
* What blessings have you received from the Lord as you have chosen to follow Him?
Ether 10
One king succeeds another; Some of the kings are righteous; others are wicked; When righteousness prevails, the people are blessed and prospered by the Lord.
DC 76:63-80
50-70 The glory and reward of exalted beings in the celestial kingdom is described; 71-80 Those who will inherit the terrestrial kingdom are described;
How can we be more valiant in our testimony of the Savior?
* "Come unto Christ, and be perfected in Him."  Deny ourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all our might, mind, and strength. (See Moroni 10:32)
General Conference
Let the Holy Spirit Guide
Elder Ronald A. Rasband
"The Holy Ghost binds us to the Lord.  By divine assignment, He inspires, testifies, teaches, and prompts us to walk in the light of the Lord.  We have the sacred responsibility to learn to
recognize His influence in our lives and respond."

When I opened my window this morning on saw three bunnies, and eight elk.  One of the bunnies was sitting on the sidewalk watching the elk.  I saw a bunny out in the field close to the elk running faster than I have ever seen a cottontail run to get away from the elk.  They didn't even notice him.

I got up early this morning to plan, pray, do my study notebooks and prepare for my Primary lesson on the Law of Consecration.

We had two talks in sacrament meeting about the Book of Mormon. The deadline for finishing is May 29th so we are almost there.
During Primary I walked out on my class because they were being very disruptive.  I came right back in after getting a drink and they were very good.  When I was telling the kids about the saints sacrificing to build the Kirtland temple I told them that some very special things happened in that temple and that the Savior appeared to Joseph Smith.  Lianna was so excited!  She said, "Oh I want to get married in that temple."  When I told her the Church didn't own it anymore she said, "Well they need to buy it back.!"

We had stake visitors during sharing time.  The stake Primary president was right behind my class and Jace and Curtis were terrible.  I was a little embarrassed.

This afternoon we had lunch, a rest, and scriptures before James left to go home teach Anthony.  He was gone over two hours because Anthony lives so far away.  He went with his partner Dave and they had a good visit.  Dave's wife Rosa gave us some of her fresh eggs.  Dave's granddaughter Maddie was one of my young women.  James said she is getting married this week and moving to Payson to a guy who just barely graduated from high school.  He is not a member and Maddie is too young to get married.  I guess no one is too happy about it, least of all the boys parents.  The boy got a scholarship to go to college but now he will have to find a job to support a wife.  The last I heard Maddie was the Laurel class president. I will miss Maddie but wish her all the very best.

Maddie and her man

I watched the church video, "Only a Stonecutter" this evening and asked all the kids to watch it.  Sheri and Ben, Kim and Brian loved it but Darrel and Stacy both said the music was too loud to hear it.  I was so disappointed because I really wanted my grandsons to feel what I felt when I watched it.  Sometimes things don't work out the way you want them too.

I studied the family proclamation today.  I have it about half way memorized.  I am very slow at memorizing!

2 Nephi 28:17-32
Repent or perish, fall of the Great and Abominable Church, Satan rages in the hearts of men, All is well in Zion says Satan, Satan flatters some, All will be judged, Following Satan leads to endless torment, don't hearken to the precepts of men, build upon the Rock of Christ, those who receive wisdom from God shall receive more, Gentiles shall receive mercy if they repent.
Why is it dangerous to think all is well in Zion?
Alma 26-27:18
26-Alma glories in the Lord-The faithful are strengthened by the Lord and given knowledge-By faith men may bring thousands of souls unto repentance-God has all power and comprehendeth all things.
27-The Lord commands Ammon to lead the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi to safety-Upon meeting Alma, Ammon's joy exhausts his strength-The Nephites give the the land of Jershon-They are called the people of Ammon.
DC 42:1-10
How can we be more prepared to hearken, hear, and obey the words of the Lord given to us by revelation?

Valiant in the Testimony of Jesus
Elder Quentin L. Cook
"The 76th section of the Doctrine and Covenants makes it clear that being valiant in the testimony of Jesus is the simple, essential test between those who will inherit the blessings of the celestial kingdom and those in the lesser terrestrial kingdom.  To be valiant, we need to focus on the power of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice to overcome death and, through our repentance, to cleanse us from sin, and we need to follow the doctrine of Christ.  We also need the light and knowledge of the Savior's life and teachings to guide us on the covenant pathway including the sacred ordinances of the temple.  We must be steadfast in Christ, feast upon His word, and endure to the end."

James and I attended the 8:30 session at the Snowflake temple today.  We saw Blain C. from our ward and James's friend from high school Vern T.

We look old

El Cupido's for lunch which for me was a carne asada burro and a drink.  We made a Walmart stop and then read from "The Seven Tipping Points that Changed the World" on the way home to Vernon.

Lost Dutchman Park in the Superstition Mountains.

James fixed the hall bathroom toilet just in time for our visitors who will arrive tonight.

I made a lunch date with my friend Pam for next Tuesday.  I spent several hours cleaning upstairs before Sheri and her family arrive.

Addy is going to go to Mexico with Bryce's family instead of going to see "Beauty and the Beast" next week.  Trina is going to use her ticket to the movie.

I found this online today:
The Relief Society is celebrating
175th anniversary this year.

I took a break for dinner and to do one blog post and then it was back upstairs to finish cleaning.  It was after 9 p.m. when I finished. The Trezise's will be here around 11.  We had 30 elk in our yard and it looks like they are staying all night.  James keeps me posted.  The elk are still here when the Trezise's arrive.  James greets them, but I stay in bed.  Rowan is here with them.  Fun!
