Spent the morning working on my blog, paying a bill, and studying. "You cannot be better than what you know."

At ten o'clock we left for my infusion appointment which was at 10:45. Frances called me right back and Ang started my infusion with no problems. I was in and out before noon. James said he was twenty minutes away so I crossed the highway and waited for him at Freddy's when I was finished. I ordered a small diet Dr. Pepper and a Chicago dog. Just as I got my order, James walked in. He helped me eat the Chicago dog and then we were on our way. We had planned on stopping at Elmer's Tacos for lunch so I called in our order. The Chicago dog was just an appetizer. We ordered two machaca tacos, a machaca burro, three bean and cheese burros, and an order of strips. Elmer's had set up a drive-thru outside. We drove up, told them the name the order was under, and we were finished within less than five minutes.

From Elmer's we drove to Darrel's to pick up Ruby and Lola to take them back with us to the timeshare. Addy and Rowan were both doing things with friends, Addy was going to Sun Splash. Ruby had a friend over, Chloe. We shared lunch with Darrel, Ruby, Lola, and Chloe. Rowan and Addy did not want anything. Trina was at work today.

After lunch I went in to use Darrel's printer to print out the label for the book that I sold and have to ship by tomorrow. The name of the book is, "The Art of the Long View" by Peter Schwartz. I tried to find this book at a local bookstore but it is too old and the ranking is around 14 million so no one had it in stock. James said he would go to Vernon and get it tomorrow and mail it. This might sound extreme but my reputation as a bookseller on Amazon is at stake. It is not the money that I will make from selling the book, but my reputation that matters.

We loaded up the girls and headed for Scottsdale. After unloading at the timeshare we went back to shop at Walmart. It was a little after five and Walmart was closed. What is going on? I would have imagined they would close by seven, but five? We drove through Chik-fil-a and got the girls some dinner and then we drove over to Fry's on north Hayden. Thank goodness it was open.

We bought peanut butter and jam, white and wheat bread, cherries, Captain Crunch cereal, goggles, and donut tubes for the pool. We also got frozen cheese pizza, macaroni and cheese, Sprite, and mint chocolate chip Blue Bell ice cream.

Back at the timeshare in rooms 1016 and 1015 we colored butterflies in our new coloring book. Ruby took a shower and then helped Lola take her shower. It was her first. Ruby is such a good sister. Oh one thing about Ruby I forgot to mention. She has lost her glasses so she has been squinting a lot. Lola wanted to call her mom and dad and tell them all about the room. We FaceTimed and she gave them a tour. She showed them the puppy towel on the bed and how Ruby ate the eyes. She showed them the patio, and told how the couch makes in to a bed. I am sure they were riveted in their seats with the thrill of it all. I love seeing things through the eyes of a child. They have such an appreciation for the simplest of things.

We had family prayer together and then the girls laid in bed and watched TV while I walked and then watched "Lark Rise to Candleford" with James. I kept thinking they would go to sleep. When they didn't, I went in and told them to turn the TV off after the show they were watching. It was late when we all went to bed.

A deserted resort in the desert

Lola was afraid of the water a couple of
years ago. Now she swims like a fish.

James bought a yellow watermelon.
It was quite tasty.

How Can I Understand
Ulisses Soares
"When we accept the Savior's invitation to 'come and see,' we need to abide in Him, immersing ourselves in the scriptures, rejoicing in them, learning His doctrine and striving to live the way He lived. Only then will we come to know Him, Jesus Christ and recognize His voice, knowing that as we come unto Him and believe in Him, we shall never hunger nor thirst. We will be able to discern the truth at all times, as occurred to those two disciples who abode with Jesus that day."

We left for the valley a little before 7 this morning. Michael was up sitting on the couch. He says he never sleeps more than 4 or 5 hours. Sean was also up. Sheri was up too. She was out running.

James dropped me off at Dr. Douglas's office around 10:30. My appointment is at 10:45 to get my teeth cleaned with Shelly, the new hygienist. Their computers were down so they were running late.

I have two crowns in the very back on my left side that need to be replaced, one on the upper and the other on the lower part of my mouth. Dr. Douglas says the top one the tooth is crumbling and will need to be pulled. I said that was fine but I could not afford to get an implant. On the bottom they will take off the crown and replace it. All of this is going to cost around $1,200.

When James picked me up we went to Fry's to get me some dry mouth lozenges. They also told me I needed to drink more water so I got a bottle of water. I looked for the hot and sweet pickles that Sister Bradshaw brings to the temple but there weren't any so I bought bread and butter instead.

We drove to the Firebirds in Gilbert where I had a lunch date with my friend Karen S. We go to lunch in February for her birthday and August for mine. I had what I always have at Firebirds, the coconut shrimp with mango habernero chutney and an ice cream sundae for dessert. Karen told me how much she loved the book I gave her for her birthday and then she gave me two books.

I have an entire collection of Aunt Dimity books.
Karen got me started on them several years ago.

Karen and I had a nice visit and then it was time to go. James spent some time at Stacy's while I was at lunch working on the door he installed. Stacy gave him a card and a dark chocolate hazelnut bar for Father's day.

We went to Darrel and Trina's next. James dropped me off while he went to mail the book we sold merchant fulfilled. I just walked in the house thinking no one was home but Addy was there. She just had her first day of school and she looked so cute. Here is what she wore her first day:

James and I were both tired so we took a nap. When Trina came home she and I decided we would go to the 7 pm showing of "Lion King". Rowan had football practice until 6. James did not feel well so he stayed home while we went to the movie. Trina put Lola in her pajamas.

At the movie I bought a big bag of popcorn to share with the kids and drank my water instead of a soda.

No hot and sweet pickles

I don't think so!

 Today's rain in Vernon

We ended up having to sit on rows 1 and 2 because we were late. I liked the movie. I forgot what a good message it has.

Meanwhile back in Vernon. Ian and his brother Sean worked on fixing the Razr for over six hours. Sheri went in and bought a new battery and they got it started but it doesn't sound good and it won't go very fast. They cleaned it all up and just left it parked in the garage. I know they were disappointed they couldn't get it running but I am so grateful to them for all they did and for trying.

They had a huge rainstorm, a gully washer and the lights went out for over two hours. Sheri said they remembered the stove was gas so they cooked dinner in the dark.

Jesus Christ, Death of
Romans 6:8
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Book of Mormon #1
Ether 5:1-6:ll
*The Lord Jesus Christ is the source of light for our world and for our lives. The Lord touched the stones the brother of Jared presented to Him "to give light unto men, women, and children" (6:3) as they crossed the ocean. The Lord also provides light to guide us through the darkness of mortality and toward the brightness of the celestial kingdom - our promised land. Our way is lit by the light of apostles and prophets, the standard works, and inspired leaders and teachers. We too can be a light - we can light the way for others when we hearken to the Lord's counsel and keep ourselves worthy of His Spirit. Sister Ardeth G. Kapp, former Young Women General President counseled: "You have the light within. You can shine in darkness. You can light up the world. You can help dispel darkness. You can make a difference." I was privileged to travel with Sister Kapp when I went to England. She invited my friend and I to have dinner with her and her sisters. She went out of her way to be kind to us, virtual strangers. She seemed genuinely interested in us and asked us questions about our lives. I have never met a kinder or sweeter person. She truly radiates the light of Christ!

Truth and the Plan
President Dallin H. Oaks
"In the course of mortal life, we would all be soiled by sin as we yielded to the evil temptations of the adversary, and we would eventually die. We accepted those challenges in reliance upon the plan's assurance that God our Father would provide a Savior, His Only Begotten Son, who would rescue us by a universal resurrection to an embodied life after death. The Savior would also provide an atonement to pay the price for all to be cleansed from sin on the conditions He prescribed. Those conditions included faith in Christ, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and other ordinances performed by priesthood authority."

Happy Birthday Paul!

I left the hospital at 8 a.m., went to Kim's showered, and washed my hair. Tiger loves Joe's room where I am staying and comes in to visit me and tries to get in my suitcase before I shoo him out.

Kim and I left about the same time, around 10 a.m. I have an appointment at AARA for my infusion at 10:45. I wasn't in the waiting room too long when Frances came to get me. There was a different girl doing the infusions but it's always great to see Frances. They got me all hooked up and someone came to take me to a room for an appointment with Rana, Dr. Caldron's assistant. My appointment didn't take too long and I was back in the infusion room watching a show on the Discovery channel about repossessing small airplanes. I was done by noon and on my way.  I stopped for lunch at Culver's where I got a roast beef sandwich. I listened to "The Clockmaker's Daughter" on the way back to the airport.

James calls the respiratory therapist working with him a Nazi. She got very upset with him because he took his mask off without calling someone. She says he must be on oxygen at all times!  He can't do anything, including getting up to go to the bathroom, without calling someone. The only problem is that half the time when you call it takes forever for someone to answer and respond.

James is now on an antibiotic to fight the pneumonia, plus he is on oxygen.

I walked to Marshall's, Fry's, and Whataburger this evening after dark. I got the cutest mugs at Marshall's for Addy and Rowan. I also got one for me and one for James to use in the hospital.

Addy gets Mama Bear because she's purple.

Of course Rowan gets the dog.

This one is for me to use at the hospital.

This one is for James because he is a silver fox.

I forgot how much I love Marshall's. I found the coolest pink and gray Paris blanket and couldn't resist buying it.

I took James a Whataburger and he had to wait to eat it after getting back from a test. He didn't even finish eating it. He has really lost his appetite. His favorite thing to eat/drink is a Slimfast shake.

After eating the Whataburger the room smelled like onions and one of the nurses made a comment.

I like the night nurse Haley. She reminds me of my friend Ashley Umphress.

I spent the night at the hospital. James asked for drugs at 1 a.m. and then fell back asleep. At 2:30 he still hadn't got them. I complained and they were right on it.
