"Followers of the Prince of Peace" by Elder Ulisses Soares
Read about the ancient welfare system in 2nd Corinthians today.
I actually made breakfast for everyone. James and Jared Ammon were outside working on the stable. I made hashbrown patties, sausage links, biscuits, and fried eggs for the guys. After breakfast James and I had scriptures and prayers. James invited Jared Ammon the other day to join us anytime but so far he hasn't. Maybe we should ask again.
I took my blood sugar this morning and it was a little high. James shouldn't have bought me that box of cherry Dilly bars.
Paul posted a snip of Joshua's play on the internet and I was very disappointed in the language.
James went into town to get some more lumber and stuff to finish the oil change on the Razr.
I confirmed with The Pasta House for next Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. for 8 people. I hope it's as good as everyone says it is.
This evening James took the lumber he bought today over to Willy's and I went with him. It was a nice evening for a ride. Willy has a nice shop as so many guys do here in Vernon. He and James got to talking about their pets and Willy told us about Grizz, his big dog, bringing a rat into the house to play with. Yikes! It's bad enough that they are outside! We didn't get to see Janna. I guess she was probably in the house.
I made no dinner at James's request. He said we have enough leftovers. Jared had some of the chicken I made yesterday, saying that he loved it.
I started reading a talk by Brother Lynn G. Robbins in this month's Liahona about virtues and how in excess, every virtue becomes a weakness. I needed an example and he gave several:
* Boldness in excess becomes overbearing (see Alma 38:12)
* Diligence becomes burnout or running faster than you are able (see Mosiah 4:27)
* Honesty in excess becomes crass and tactless. This is excusable with children but not with adults who lack the virtues of being thoughtful, kind, and empathetic.
* Frugality in excess becomes selfish, stingy, miserly.
* Tolerance in excess becomes permissive, lax, laissez-faire.
* Love in excess becomes pampering, stifling, crippling, enabling.
Such a good article!
