"Never Give Up an Opportunity to Testify of Christ" by Sister Bonnie H. Cordon
I got up and took a shower before James and I left to go to Walmart and the afterwards breakfast at Whataburger. I had the honey chicken biscuit which was delicious and James had the scrambled bowl but he was disappointed because his bowl had gravy in it. We dined it, still no eating in my new car.
By the way, I loved the Walmart in Longview. It was clean and well-stocked.
We got back to Jared's just before the Mermaid party started at 11. Those attending: Tanner and his girlfriend Kate, Summer, the Cardon family, Shawn, Tracy, Jonathan, Ezra, Olivia and cute baby Caleb. Charlie, Scarlett, Autumn, Jared, Kacey, James and I.
While waiting for Jared to bring home the pizza, Tanner carried a chair into the bedroom for me so I could setup my computer. I was very grateful.
Jared was late bringing the pizza home. There was some kind of mix up at Pappa John's and he ended up going to Dominoes instead.
While the adults were waiting for pizza the kids were outside swimming in the blowup pool setup in the backyard.
After pizza we had cake and ice cream. Autumn made the cake.
while Autumn served up the cake.
One of Charlie's gifts was this swingset.
The kids played pin the fin on the mermaid. Charlie was first.
exactly in the right place.
Charlie, Olivia and Scarlett looking on.
Charlie opening her gifts. She was a little shy about it.
Charlie got a jewelry making kit from the Cardon's, Ariel from Summer, she got the new one and the old one, and I'm not sure who gave her the old one. Picture frames she can paint from Tanner and Kate. My favorite gift was the Monster trucks she got from Autumn and Scarlett. Charlie got other gifts but these are the ones I remember. Oh yes, a mermaid blanket and a Sorry game.
Here are some outside photos. I didn't go outside so someone else took these:
Go Scarlett! Her dad and grandpa have been putting it together.
They finished the tube slide. Jared asked Charlie to try
it out. When I asked her how it was she put two thumbs up!
Autumn has a Nissan Rogue over to the left. Her name is Rebecca.
My new car is on the right. Her name is Celeste.
After the party James and I took naps and then we wanted to take Charlie and Scarlett shopping for their birthdays. Charlie was playing and didn't want to come but Scarlett did so off we went with Scarlett.
We went to the Walmart and Scarlett held both of our hands when we went in. We got a basket and she asked me if we were going to do any other shopping. When I told her no, this trip was just for her she seemed happy.
Scarlett picked out a little haircare kit for herself and an ice cream tower playground with mini people and accessories for Charlie. Scarlett kept asking me if her gift was big or small. I wasn't sure what she meant. When I told Autumn she said she had told her to get something small, meaning something that didn't cost very much. Compared to the $150 Barbie dollhouse we found, our gifts were small.
Charlie seemed to like her gift and she and Scarlett played with both gifts for quite some time. We just relaxed around the house and outside this evening. The girls rode their scooters around the indoor racetrack: Through the kitchen and dining, piano area, entryway and family room back through the kitchen. We also watched the new Little Mermaid, real life, and I made friends with Love and played with her. I told the girls I felt like I was at the circus with mermaids, dogs, and girls who can do tricks and ride scooters. I took a video but I'm not sure I can post it here.
Well, it posted but now I can't get it to play. Kacey, what am I doing wrong?
We sat in the backyard for awhile and I heard this funny noise. I asked what it was and Kacey said it was cicadas. We found one of their exoskeletons. You can hardly tell that there isn't a bug inside that skeleton. Kacey said that one time her sister put the skeletons all over her face to scare the kids. Here is what the one we found looked like:
Lovie got a good workout outside. James would throw a ball and she would run and fetch it. She can run so fast! After we all went back in the house Kacey turned her over and combed/brushed through her longer hair. She loves it! Autumn said their dog, Duchess, Lovie's sister, hates it when she tries to comb her hair and she even nips at Autumn.
Here are some more photos from the day:
Kacey got her a mermaid "sleeping bag" to
carry in her backpack to school, every single day.
I am amazed how these girls can memorize songs so readily.
everything was just right for the party.
of all of the plants she has.
They used the card I sent to Charlie to copy "Gramma." The only problem is they copied "Grampa" instead.
Charlie stacked the balloons in the trash basket.
