'Let Patience Have Her Perfect Work, And Count It All Joy!'
Elder Jeremy R. Jaggi
When we exercise patience, our faith increases. As our faith increases, so does our joy.
P1 S2
God the Father has given us the divine birth, the incomparable life, and the infinite atoning sacrifice of His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
We woke up to snow this morning, more than I thought we would have. It snowed most of the day today. James built a fire this afternoon. Everything looks so fresh and clean when it is covered with snow. I listened to Inklings, Nourish the Body, regarding food storage. One of the recipes given was a black bean taco with sweet potatoes. When I told James he said it did not sound good to him. I would have liked to try it but not if he doesn't want to.
I put a stew in the crockpot this morning. I knew it was going to be a busy day and I didn't want to have to worry about dinner later in the day. I also made two loaves of pumpkin bread.
This afternoon around 2:30 the Grapp family came over to help me can the 40 lbs. of chicken I bought. The kids played upstairs, except for cute little Malea. I got to hold her and actually put her to sleep on the couch. She finds comfort in sucking her thumb so she is easy to put to sleep. She is not quite three months old.
Thomas began cutting up the chicken and so did Cammy while I put it in the jars. This process didn't take long at all. I ended up with 19 pints and 7 quarts of chicken. We had to make sure the edges of the jars were clean before putting the lids on. Cammy let me use her jars and she also had lids for me. I should pay her for the lids because they are not reusable. I will do that. They brought two pressure canners. We put water in the canners and then Thomas put the lids on. Cammy said she was glad he was here because she doesn't like to do the big canner. We had to wait for the pressure to build to 15 lbs. which took an hour or so. Once it reaches 15 lbs. of pressure you let the chicken cook for an hour and a half. The Grapp's left somewhere between 5 and 5:30. The chicken will not be through cooking until 6:30. We are supposed to be at the Peeler's for "Come Follow Me" at 6:30. We were a few minutes late. It was us, the Peeler's, and the Goodman's. Kathy Crane wasn't feeling well so they didn't come.
When we got home we took the jars of chicken out of the canners. They were still quite hot. All of the cans sealed! I'm excited about adding this much chicken to our food supply. James and I had the stew for dinner. It was delicious. I wish I would have had enough to feed the Grapp's too. My heart is filled with gratitude for the service to us today.

I told Addy, she wants to go get the book!
