Jesus Christ, Divine Sonship
Alma 12:33
But God did call on men, in the name of his Son, (this being the plan of redemption which was laid) saying: If ye will repent, and harden not your hearts, then will I have mercy upon you, through mine Only Begotten Son;

Careful versus Casual

"As the influences of the world increasingly embrace the evil, we must strive with all diligence to stay firmly on the path that leads us safely to our Savior."

James was frustratingly trying to send a message to all of the parents of the children in his Primary class regarding this week's "Come Follow Me" assignment. I was compelled to help him and I entered each of the parents names into his contacts and then he dictated the message he wanted to send to me and I texted it into the phone and sent the message.

Book Profits webinar led by Jim and Herman again today. While James was listening I was listening in the background as I made chocolate cupcakes for my friend Kerri's birthday.

At 10 a.m. I met with Catherine, Kerri, and Maxine at Catherine and Kerri's house. I came with a platter of unfrosted cupcakes. I felt guilty and brought a can of frosting. Catherine said, "You may as well take that can of frosting home because we won't be using it."

Our purpose for being gathered at the Halcomb's besides bringing Kerri cupcakes, was to work on family history.

Maxine helped Kerri who had a notebook full of PAF papers. Maxine did not even know what PAF was. PAF was the last great family history endeavor, Personal Ancestral File.

I helped Catherine, using the plan I made in the consultant planner. I then asked what else she wanted to do. She wanted to do her stepmother's temple work. She was not in the system. We entered her but because she has not been dead 110 years, Catherine needs permission from her closest ancestor to do her temple work. Catherine says she is the closest living ancestor, so she sent an email to herself asking for permission. Sometimes Salt Lake requires certain things and we have to jump through the hoops.

When I returned after an hour James was buying books. He spent a great deal of time buying books today. He called about getting a wheel for his skidsteer but there is not one available at Cat. I don't know how he's going to get the old one off and lift it anyway.

I spent most of the afternoon paying personal and Lambson Construction bills. I am grateful we have the money to pay our bills. James made more money on the Chacon job than he had planned. All of that waiting, and pulling of hair, was worthwhile.

I called Amazon seller support today. They showed us selling two copies of our most profitable book. Our profits were up past $200 because of this. I wanted to make it right. When our conversation was over, Nathan, the Amazon seller support member, said to me. "Thank you for your honesty. We need more sellers' like you."

I am in the process of stripping the wax off the wood floor in the family room. It is a long, and tedious, and messy process and won't be done any time soon.

I was not feeling well later this afternoon/evening so I took a shower, got a shake and tramadol, and relaxed in my recliner and watch some Hallmark after finishing my 12,000 steps.

Her name should be Joy because that's what she brings.

This is the book that Amazon sold twice when we
only had one.

Jesus Christ, Appearances, Postmortal
Luke 24:36
And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
Book of Mormon
3 Nephi 12:1-24
*How do you make sure you aren't putting your light under a bushel?
"The Savior's message in the Sermon on the Mount is of critical importance to all of us. 'But seek ye first to build up the kingdom of God, and to establish His righteousness' (JST, Matthew 6:38).
"This message needs to penetrate into our hearts and souls. As we accept this message, we are taking our personal stand in this life." (President James E. Faust, Ensign, May 2007, 67).
President Harold B. Lee taught that the Beatitudes embody the 'constitution for a perfect life;' 'Four of them have to do with our individual selves, and four have to do with man's social relations with others.'
Elder Spencer J. Condie of the Seventy explained how the Beatitudes may be viewed as a recipe for righteousness with incremental steps, beginning with the poor in spirit who come unto Christ.' (3 Nephi 12:3). The next step in the celestial direction is to mourn, especially for our sins, for 'godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation.' (3 Nephi 12:14-16).
Elder Robert D. Hales referred to a personal experience in emphasizing the importance of being a light for others:
"Growing up on Long Island, in New York, I understood how vital light was to those traveling in the darkness on the open sea. How dangerous is a fallen lighthouse! How devastating is a lighthouse whose light has failed! We who have the gift of the Holy Ghost must be true to it's promptings so we can be a light to others. 'Let your light so shine before men,' said the Lord, 'that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.' (Matt. 5:15-16). We never now who may be depending on us. And, as the Savior said, we 'know not but what they will return and repent, and come unto me with full purpose of heart, and I shall heal them; and ye shall be the means of bringing salvation unto them' (3 Nephi 18:32), (Ensign, May 2002, 71).
Doctrine Covenants Scripture Mastery
DC 130:20-21
20 There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated-
21 And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.

Apart, But Still One
Elder Joni L. Koch
"In the Church, in spite of our differences, the Lord expects us to be one. He said in the Doctrine Covenants, 'Be one; and if ye are not one ye are not mine.' "

An update for last Friday night's football game between the Show Low Cougars and the Snowflake Lobos. Show Low won 42-8. Even though I am an alumni of Snowflake High School, I am so happy for Monte and his Cougars!!

James's friends, Paul and Janelle, who came all the way from Oregon to go hunting, are coming to site in their rifles this morning so I moved all of my study materials to the bedroom. They were here all morning and came in and visited with James for awhile.
I left to go grocery shopping around noon.

The first thing I did when I got to town was go to Aliberto's for my tacos. It looked so crowded that I got in the drive-thru line. I ate my tacos in the Walmart parking lot and saved the rice and beans for later.
I thought I was being frugal with my spending until I got up to the register and saw the total. Wow groceries are expensive!

I was so tired when I got home. James was tired too. He took a nap and then went out to work until dark. I sat in my recliner and watched a new movie Hallmark movie, "Darrow and Darrow." I also finished taking my steps for the day and worked on my blog.

This evening James and I watched the new episode of "Gourmet Detective: "Eat and Drink."

Feelin' guilty we weren't there.

Hilarious!

9 - The Nephites caped outside Cumeni for many nights.

11 - The Nephites send the Lamanite provisions to Judea and their prisoners of war to Zarahemla.
12 - The Lamanites eild up Cumeni to the Nephites.
13 - The Nephites have a huge amount of Lamanites prisoners of war.
14 - They had to slay 2,000 of them because they fought with stones and clubs to be free.

GC: "Refuge from the Storm" by Elder Kearon.

I finished reading "The Lincoln Hypothesis."

It was a beautiful overcast morning with rain.  James and I were both so tired from being out late last night that we went back to bed.  We slept a couple of hours or so.  It was after ten when we got up again.  I studied and fixed pesto flatbread and a salad for lunch.
Eltz Castle, not sure where.

We left for the valley around 4:20.  We stopped for gas and to get our car washed again and then to Walmart to pick up my folic acid prescription.  I also got a big almond Hershey bar for Addy for her birthday tomorrow.
This picture was taken a couple of years ago at
Chino Bandido's in Chandler.
James, Molly, and Ruby.

Lola is at it again, following Evan around.

James and I stopped at Burger House in Miami for dinner.  We ate in and then ordered some burros to go for lunch tomorrow for us and Terry and Cathi.  Tonight I had a chicken enchilada and some refried beans.  Good, but not as good as La Casita's use to be.

Guest/playhouse

We arrived at Cathi and Terry's around 9pm just like I told her we would.  We talked a little while with Cathi about the 25 million name marriage project FamilySearch has been hired to do by FindMyPast.  Cathi of course is working on it.

Saturday, February 23, 2013

I gathered up a total of five bags of leaves from the yard counting what I did yesterday and then this morning.  I couldn't work long because I have another lunch date today.  This one is with Adam.  His birthday is February 26th.  He will be 23 years old.  I can hardly believe that.

He asked if Joshua could go with us and who can refuse Joshua.  We went to one of Adam's favorite restaurants, Red Lobster.  Adam and I had shrimp scampi, (this is the 3rd day in a row I have had something with shrimp in it), James had the tilapia, and Joshua had popcorn shrimp and broccoli.  I might add that Joshua ate everything on his plate.  Afterwards the boys went home and played with their pets.
Adam, Skittles, Joshua and Lightning.
After lunch we packed up my ten boxes of books and headed for home.  I was so sleepy.  I had to have a diet Dr. Pepper, M&M's and some jerky.  On the way home I stopped at Safeway to get some groceries, including ice cream and stuff for punch for New Beginnings.  James will be here on Wednesday so he is making his famous punch for us!
After unloading and putting things away James and I had our weekly date in front of the TV.  One of his favorite shows is Person of Interest so that's what we watched first.  I usually like it but I hated this episode because it was so violent!  We also watched one of my favorite shows, The Mentalist.  Simon Baker, now that's more like it!
Our goal was to be in bed by 9.  Just as I was getting in bed I got a text from Natalie asking me if I could attend ward counsel in the morning at 7am.  Sure, why not.  James has an early morning high council meeting in Show Low so he will be leaving a little after five.
