Book of Mormon
Mosiah 27:18-37
*How does it feel to have your soul "redeemed from the gall of bitternness and the bonds of iniquity?"
- Who among us has not felt the dark abyss, the remorse of conscience from our sins and mistakes, those awful feelings of guilt? Those feelings of pain to our spirit can be harder to bear than physical pain. I liked how Alma explained what the atonement of Christ did for him, and can do for us. Boyd K. Packer states: "The Atonement of Christ is an ever-present power to call upon in everyday life. When we are harrowed up or tormented by guilt or burdened with grief, he can heal us. If Christ hadn't made his Atonement, the penalties for mistakes would be added one on top of the other. Life would be hopeless. But he willingly sacrificed in order that we may be redeemed."
Old Testament
1 Samuel 27-28
27 David flees to Achish at Gath - He dwells among the Philistines for sixteen months.
28 Saul inquires of the witch of Endor for revelation - She foretells his death, the death of his sons, and the defeat of Israel by the Philistines.

Family History and Temple Work - Sealing and Healing
Elder Dale G. Renlund
"As Church members, we do have a divinely appointed responsibility to seek out our ancestors and compile family histories. This is far more than an encouraged hobby, because the ordinances of salvation are necessary for all of God's children. We are to identify our own ancestors who died without receiving the ordinances of salvation. We can perform the ordinances vicariously in temples, and our ancestors may choose to accept the ordinances. We are also encouraged to help ward and stake members with the family names. It is breathtakingly amazing that, through family history and temple work, we can help to redeem the dead."

James had three things to fix before he goes back on the job: His tractor, which is at the Wallace's and is being worked on by one of the Westbrook boys, his power steering line on the truck, and the brakes on the trailer.
This morning he thinks he found the problem with the power steering line. The hose isn't securely clamped. Brother Wallace gave him a clamp and we got some power steering fluid and now it's fixed.

This morning we went into town so James could get some supplies and I could do a little shopping at Walmart. I saw Laurann and her boys while I was shopping. I also saw my cousin Rita and spoke with her a few minutes.

When I got home from town I made a stew to take to the temple tomorrow. I also worked on my blog and did my 45 minute walking. My life is so predictable.

James made himself a green smoothie using Trina's recipe this evening. It was delicious!

We missed the YW Navajo Taco, Pie Auction dinner this evening. James just wanted to stay home and relax. We ended up keeping the lemon pie and we are each going to have a piece after we weigh in on Sunday morning.

We watched the episode of "When Calls the Heart" where Elizabeth is told that Jack is dead. Tomorrow night we will watch the finale.

Jesus Christ Authority of
Alma 5:50
Yea, thus saith the Spirit: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, for the kingdom of heaven is sson at hand; yea the Son of God cometh in his glory, in his might, majesty, power, and dominion. Yea, my beloved brethren, I say unto you, that the Spirit saith: Behold the glory of the King of all the earth; and also the King of heaven shall very soon shine forth among all the children of men.
Book of Mormon
1Nephi 17:31-47
*What message do you think Nephi wanted Laman and Lemuel to get out of verses 17:36-43?
*What can we learn from the story of the Israelites being bitten by the serpents in the wilderness? Why did Nephi choose to share this story with his brothers?
Old Testament
Exodus 9-10
9 The Lord destroys the cattle of the Egyptians, but not of the Israelites - Boils and blains are sent upon the Egyptians - The Lord sends hail and fire upon the people of Pharaoh, but not upon the people of Israel.
10 The Lord sends a plague of locusts - This is followed by thick darkness in all Egypt for three days - Moses is cast out from the presence of Pharaoh.
Old Testament Scripture Mastery
Ezekiel 37:15-17
15 The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,
16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it. For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.

Apart, But Still One
Elder Joni L. Koch
" We had seen families in our ward who had become weaker in the gospel and had stopped attending meetings because they could not be one with those who were leading. I myself also witnessed many of my friends from Primary not remaining faithful in their youth because their parents were always finding fault with those inside the Church."

James left this morning to buy paint and then went to work at the Howard's. He worked until about 3:30 this afternoon. I had a stew on the stove waiting for him when he got home. He went outside to take a 15 minute walk before eating.

I scheduled our timeshare today for May 27th-June 3rd so we will be down in the valley for Ben's  graduation and our anniversary.

Sister Hunsaker asked me if I would come in on Sunday and talk to the Beehives about what I have done in my life to know Christ.

It is 4:40 p.m. and I still have to hem James's temple pants, and make cookies for the temple tomorrow. We leave our house at 5:30 tomorrow morning. We get home between 2:30 and 3 in the afternoon and then we have to be back and seated in the chapel by 6:15 p.m.

"Home should be an anchor, a port in a storm, a refuge, a
happy place in which to dwell, a place where we are loved and
where we can love.  Home should be where life's greatest lessons are taught and learned."
-Elder Marvin J. Ashton

The boys had a soccer game this morning.  Trina, Lola, Addy, Ruby, Stacy, Paul, Michael, and Bob & Suzy Case along with Kreed and Kayla were all there to watch.

Evan going after the ball.
Rowan on the run.
Joshua kicks the ball.

Joshua was a little sad because he missed two goals when he was playing goalie.  I think he is doing great for this being his first year of playing

On the way home from the game I stopped at Deseret Book to do a little shopping.  I bought a book for Stacy for her birthday by John Bytheway called: "Lifestyles of the Great and Spacious Building."  I also bought a book for Karen Schneider's birthday: "The Miracles of Jesus."  I also went to Costco which is right next door to Deseret Book.  I got lemon bites and brownie bites for the Robo bake sale today.  I also got some Honey Crisp apples, pork chops, toilet paper, and brownie mixes.

It was 84 degrees this afternoon during the Robo bake sale.
Robo is Evan's company.  Rowan, Joshua,
and Max all work for him.
Sheri made chocolate chip cookies,
chocolate peanut butter cookies, and
snickerdoodles.  They were all delicious!
Making a sale to Joe's friend Amanda.
Ruby and Sheri having a little fun.
Trina brought cookies and goodies from Paradise Bakery.  The sale was a huge success.  The boys took in $60.  When Evan asked whe they could do it again Sheri said: "In November, for your birthday."
I think it was a little stressful for her.
After the sale was over Rowan stayed to play with Evan and Joshua.  Trina came back later this evening to get him.

James and I watched a good Hallmark movie this evening starring Jason Priestly and Teri Polo called "Expect a Miracle."

We had stew for dinner and then James painted while I read to him.

"On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your spiritual confidence before God?  Do you have a personal witness that your current offering as a Latter-day Saint is sufficient to inherit eternal life?  Can you say within yourself that Heavenly Father is pleased with you?"
-Elder Jorg Klebingat

I put a stew on this morning before leaving for church.  James was late getting back from high council.  I guess on the way home he stopped at the Vernon ward and attended ward council.

Kelly, one of our young women, gave her first talk in sacrament meeting and did a great job!  Tina and Steve Allen also spoke.  In Sunday School we studied Isaiah 54 and in Young Women Sandra gave a lesson on the Word of Wisdom to the Mia Maids.

Our stew tasted so yummy on this cold wintry day!  We offered some to Robert but he declined.  He left to go home to eat and never returned to finish the truck.  James is taking my car to the valley tomorrow and I guess I am going with him.

Darrel got home around 6:30 this evening.  We are sad that he has to work on Sundays but the other pharmacist is LDS too.  They work 3 Sundays and then are off 3.

We had a meeting with Bishop Miller today to tell him about our plans to move back to the valley for a few months to get our house ready to sell.  He thought it was a good idea to have our memberships moved.
