"Taking Upon Ourselves the Name of Jesus Christ"
Elder Robert C. Gay
"His grace is sufficient. He alone descended below all things. The power of His Atonement is the power to overcome any burden in our life. The message of the woman at the well is that He knows our life situations and that we can always walk with Him no matter where we stand. To her and to each of us, He says, 'Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but shall have a well of water springing up into everlasting life.'"

James left for the valley around 5:30 this morning.

At 8:00 I watched the Book Profits webinar which featured Jim and Herman. They

I left the house around 10:30 to pick up my friend Jean to take her to lunch for her birthday. On the way to Show Low the low tire icon came on so we stopped at Discount Tire for air. The young man who put the air in said he was giving each tire 32 lbs. I said that was fine.

Jean wanted to go to Mountain Thai and get some noodle soup because she was cold. We each got our soup with shrimp and then we added the sweet chili sauce. It was delicious. We ordered fresh mango and sticky rice for dessert.

On the way home we stopped at Walmart so I could pick up my tramadol prescription. Jean waited for me in the car.

After taking Jean home I went to the post office to pick up the mail One of the books I had ordered was there.

In Chandler James is staying at Kim and Brian's. They were told they had mold in their laundry room and had someone come to tear up the walls to treat it. Once the walls were torn up they discovered there was no mold. Now they want James to put everything back together and their insurance will pay for it. James also need to do a little job for Reed and Janis Willis.

I am listening to a new audio book on my phone. It's called Squint. The title reminds me that is what Trina and Darrel sometimes call Rowan. The main character is a middle school boy with an eye disease who has to wear big, thick glasses and everyone calls him Squint.

I texted Rita and got Aunt Gene's phone number and made an appointment to go see her on Thursday, which is her birthday.

James visited his mom today. Both Aunt Gene and Lois are 91.

Abby turn 8 and will be baptized on Saturday.
When she was 6 the Primary president asked the Primary children
what is meant to be reverent. I will never forget Abby's answer. She said: "It means to be quiet and respectful."

Jesus Christ, Crucifixion
DC 53:2
Behold, I, the Lord, who was crucified for the sins of the world, give unto you a commandment that you shall forsake the world.
Book of Mormon
3 Nephi 7:1-14
*Why and how is Satan trying to divide people today?
- When there is division the gospel, or any message really, cannot move forward. It stops progress. It stops every good thing. It stops love and kindness. We have been counseled that when we are not one, then we are not His. Satan knows his time is running out and that in the last days even the elect will be deceived. There is no strength in division. We become weak and find our hearts seeking other treasures than God's Kingdom.

Sisters' Participation in the Gathering of Israel
President Russell M. Nelson
"I'm extending a prophetic plea to you, the women of the Church, to shape the future by helping to gather scattered Israel."

I have made a commitment to get up before 5 am. Today is was 4:39. Instead of snow outside, we had fog. It finally lifted mid-morning.

Today was the end of my ten day media fast. My impressions:
I don't need social media as much as I thought I did. I used to look on Facebook and Instagram the first thing in the morning. Now, I say my prayers and plan my day instead. I do like to see what people I know are doing but there are definitely more important ways to spend my time. I wonder if President Nelson was hoping we would read more from the Book of Mormon instead of looking on social media. I have enjoyed reading the Book of Mormon from the beginning again.

I read an article in the Ensign today under the title, "What Can We Learn From the Fall of King David." Here are a couple of quotes from that article: "Idleness leads to evil." President Ezra Taft Benson said: "It is better to prepare and prevent than to repair and repent."

Elder Quentin L. Cook says that the new multi-volume history of the Church will help us keep our covenants by enlarging our memory of what the Savior has done for us.

We are still overdrawn in our business checking account. James did finally work out his differences and they mailed us another check yesterday but it probably won't be here until Friday.

James has so many aches and pains. I feel so bad for him. My arthritis is pretty much under control right now but James struggles on an hourly basis with his leg and his back.

No wonder his back hurts. He fixed
our leaky faucet!

I really miss Charlie and her parents. I felt really sad and depressed today about it. I always feel better when Kacey or Jared sends me a picture or a video. I hope we get to see them again before Charlie gets too much older.

I worked on my 2019 calender in my dot journal. We also did a session in our book arbitrage business on search filters.

Did I feel the Spirit today?

Jesus Christ Atonement through
Romans 3:25
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Book of Mormon
Ether 2:13-25
The Lord wants us to grow and learn as we make our own decisions. He also wants us to take our conclusions to Him frequently for His confirmation. When the brother of Jared asked the Lord about the matter of light for the vessels, the Lord answered with a question of His own: "What will ye that I should do that ye may have light in your vessels?" According to President Harold B.Lee, the Lord's question was similar to saying the following: 'Well, have you any good ideas? What would you suggest that we should do in order to have light?' Then the Lord went away and left him alone. It was as though the Lord were saying to him, 'Look, I gave you a mind to think with, and I gave you agency to use it. Now you do all you can to help yourself with this problem; and then, after you've done all you can, I'll step in to help you.' After considering the possibilities, the brother of Jared demonstrated his great faith by asking the Lord to touch 16 stones and supply lights. The Lord answered this plea and not only provided light for the vessels but gave this faithful man a vision unlike any other. President Harold B. Lee concluded: "This is the principle in action. If you want the blessing, don't just kneel down and pray about it. Prepare yourselves in every conceivable way you can in order to make yourselves worthy to receive the blessing you seek" (Stand Ye in Holy Places, 1974, 243-44).

And by your hands I will work a marvelous work among the children of men, unto the convincing of many of their sins, that they may come unto repentance, and that they may come unto the kingdom of my Father.

Value Beyond Measure
Joy D. Jones
" Let me point out the need to differentiate between two critical words - worth and worthiness. They are not the same. Spiritual worth means to value ourselves the way Heavenly Father values us, not as the world values us. Our worth was determined before we ever came to this earth. God's love is infinite and it will endure forever. On the other hand, worthiness is achieved through obedience. If we sin we are less worthy, but we are never worth less!"

This was not your typical Sabbath day for me. I did not study my Primary lesson and I did not attend my meetings. Sister Kuffer taught my class and used my handouts that I sent with James.
Today was our fast and testimony meeting and I was not able to fast. James didn't fast either because he forgot.

I stayed home and slept and watched Christmas movies. The right side of my throat is really sore and it is hard to swallow. Drinking hot liquids and carbonated liquids feels good.

James went to tithing settlement by himself. This evening we forgot about the 1st Presidency Christmas Devotional, which was pretty sad.

I really do not like missing my Sunday meetings. Being sick on the Sabbath day is the worst!

So beautiful

Atonement
1 Peter 3:18
Jesus Christ
Ether 2:12
Alma 36:25-37:10
*Can you think of some small and simple things that have made a big impact in your life?
*How has God delivered you from your trials?
God delivers me from my trials everyday. When I turn to Him and follow His ways my anxieties, doubts, and fears disappear. God is love, peace, and hope. God is everything good in my life. When I stop focusing on worldly things and focus on God, my life is happy.
DC 103:29-40
29-40, Various brethren are called to organize Zion's Camp and go to Zion; they are promised victory if they are faithful.
Why is it hard sometimes to do the Lord's will?
*Because often the Lord's plans are not what we believe to be our plans. To do the Lord's will, we have to exercise faith, knowing that He knows what is best. Often taking the first step is hard. Often times we are prideful or stubborn and just don't want to. Sometimes it takes us out of our comfort zone. Each day I pray for His help and the strength and courage to do it.

The Power of the Book of Mormon
President Thomas S. Monson
" If you are not reading the Book of Mormon each day, please do so. If you will read it prayerfully and with a sincere desire to know the truth, the Holy Ghost will manifests its truth to you. If it is true - and I solemnly testify that it is - then Joseph Smith was a prophet who saw God the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ."

A Sin-Resistant Generation
Sister Joy D. Jones
"We must understand our - and their - divine identity and purpose before we can help our children see who they are and why they are here. We must help them know without question that they are sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father and that He has divine expectations of them. Second, understanding the doctrine of repentance is essential for becoming resistant to sin. Being sin-resistant doesn't mean being sinless, but it does imply being continually repentant, vigilant, and valiant. Perhaps being sin-resistant comes as a blessing from repeatedly resisting sin. As James said, 'Resist the devil, and he will flee you.'"

I decided to go to the temple this morning to do initiatories. I left around 9 a.m. My first stop was at the Vernon post office where I mailed the package to Texas with Emmy and Anna's things that they left here.  The post office girls, Debbie and her friend told me my box was too big and they could save me money by repackaging my stuff. Long story short, we repacked and saved me $14. I would never have gotten that service at a city post office. I also saw my neighbor Chuck and Owen before leaving the post office.

My next stop was the Book Barn where Brother Rhoton put names on scriptures for Wyatt and Marlie in my Primary class.  I got a necklace for Ruthie W. because today is her birthday and James is her home teacher. I had to get gas and my car washed before going to the temple. By the time I got to Snowflake I was hungry and stopped at El Cupido's for a bacon breakfast burrito.

At the temple I did initiatories for three Ballentine relatives and a Rachel Allman Spoon.  I had a nice visit with one of the temple workers. Her husband was good friends with James in high school. Also, Blaine C. was the greeter when I came in. He is in our ward in Vernon.

The rain arrives in Vernon around 2:45 this afternoon. I open the dining room windows and it feels like heaven.

James got home from the valley around 4 p.m. He brings me two burros, a bean and cheese and a green chili. We go out on the porch and read from "A Lady Unrivaled."

Today's Christmas movies:
"Christmas Land" and "Sleigh Bells Ring."
