The back side of water.

Alma 13:10-20
Brigham Young's definition of sanctification:
"Overcoming every sin and bringing all into subjection to the law of Christ. God has placed in us a pure spirit; when this spirit reigns predominant, ..., and triumphs over the flesh and rules and governs and controls . . , this I call the blessing of sanctification."
Alma 13:16 "The Rest of the Lord"
Joseph F. Smith: "To me it means that through the love of God I have been won over to Him, so that I can feel at rest in Christ, that I may no more be disturbed by every wind of doctrine, by the cunning and craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; and that I am established in the knowledge and testimony of Jesus Christ, so that no power can turn me aside from the straight and narrow path that leads back into the presence of God, to enjoy exaltation in His glorious kingdom; that from this time henceforth I shall enjoy that rest until I shall rest with Him in the heavens."

Evan and Rowan played a game of Tenzi this morning before we went down to the pool.

 I love their summer hairdo's.
I thought this post on Facebook by Michael was pretty funny.
Sounds about right.
Pool time this morning for a couple of hours.  Rowan, Max, Evan and I had to take a snow cone break.  This time Evan got grape instead of sour apple.
Not sure what Ben is doing. I hope he isn't texting.

After we finished swimming we went back to the suite for lunch.  I fixed quesadillas for Ben and Max and cheese crisps for Evan, Rowan, and Joshua.  Joshua had two.  I guess he was really hungry.

Michael worked a few hours and then James brought him back to the resort.
He fits right in with the rest of the crew with the
last name of Gonzales.

Trina brought Addy and Ruby this afternoon to spend the night.  Of course Lola came with them.
Who cares if it's 100 degrees outside and you have a jacket
on when you are this cute!
I had promised Ruby we would go to the mall for her birthday shopping so we headed for Chandler.  Our first stop was to take Michael home.  Trina took Ben, Evan, Max, and Joshua home with her.
After dropping Michael off Ruby, Addy and I headed for the Chandler mall.  This is the gift that Ruby picked out at Fuzziwigs.
Cookies 'n' Cream and baby Oreo.
She was so excited and because she bought Panda's, we had to eat at Panda Express for dinner.
Addy found this at Barnes and Noble and I just had to buy it for her.  She is a huge Harry Potter fan.  I was afraid if I waited until her birthday it would be gone.
Harry Potter in his quidditich
uniform.
Ruby wanted to take a picture in the photo booth but it cost $5.  I had the girls get in the booth and I took my own picture.
Two cuties!
Back at the resort grandpa was finally home.  He played Tenzi with the girls while I did some shopping at Fry's.
I took the girls down to go swimming and they had a great time.
I love Ruby's swimsuit.  She has Lola
has one just like it.
Addy is such a great sister!
The snowcone place was closed so we had to get smoothies instead.
Addy got lemonade and Ruby and I got strawberry with
whipped cream.
Ruby is quite a poser.
After the smoothies the girls were cold so we had
to go over to the hot tub for awhile.

We went down to the clubhouse and picked out a movie, "Maleficient".  Grandpa watched it with them while I fixed some refreshments and put clean sheets on their bed.
Addy had seen it before but Ruby and
Grandpa had not.  It totallly changes the
story of Sleeping Beauty.
Cookie 'n' Cream and Oreo liked the movie too.
Cookie is the mom and Oreo the baby

In other news, Muhammed Ali's funeral was today.  I posted this picture of him with my brother Dennis in 1976.
Muhammed is holding Dennis's son Eric.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today would have been my mom's 84th birthday.
She died On March 31, 1999, and
I still miss her everyday and I always will,
until I see her again.

It was Florence Cluff's funeral and I am afraid I missed it.  She was a dear friend and a great influence in my life.

I went to lunch with James at Chili's and then did some shopping at Bath & Body Works.  That place is amazing.  I was on sensory overload while I was there.

At 3pm this afternoon we attended Rowan's baptism at the Val Vista Lakes stake center in Gilbert.  What a special day for Rowan's baptism.  Not only was it my mother's birthday but it was the day Darrel was baptized 28 years ago.  Life really does come full circle.

Rowan and his friend Nate.
Love these faces!

Rowan was baptized and confirmed by his dad Darrel Kay Lambson.  One of the most special parts of the program was Addy and Ruby singing "I Like to Look for Rainbows."  Addy has a beautiful voice, and Ruby certainly is not shy.  The neat things is that on the way home this evening I saw the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen.  It reminded me again about how special this day was.  The only way it would have been better is if Jared and his family were here.
Sheri & Evan entertaining Lola
I love her hair!
Trina and Darrel had a get together at their house after the baptism.  I only had time to grab a brownie and a few bites of watermelon, change my clothes and head for home.  James was in such a big hurry and although we weren't traveling together he was helping me put air in my tire before leaving.  Here are some pictures I took at the party before I was whisked away.
Kylie and Kayla, Rowan's cousins, made him a
replica of the Gilbert temple out of Legos.
What a great idea and didn't they do a good job!
Welcome to the Gilbert Temple
Someone was just too tired to party.
Kim got Rowan a Harry Potter
scarf, robe, and glasses to go
with the wizard's wand I got him
for his birthday.  He loves Harry Potter!

It was late when I got home around 10pm.  I love my family so much but it's always good to be home, especially when James is here too.

"The commandment 'thou shalt not kill, nor do anything like unto it' is founded upon spiritual law that protects all of God's children, even the unborn.  Long experience suggests that when we ignore this law, immeasurable sorrow results.  Yet many believe it is acceptable to terminate the life of an unborn child for reasons of preference or convenience."
-Elder Robert D. Hales
Ponytails by Addy
Our fast and testimony meeting was mostly gratitude that the fire was out and that the rains have come.   Shelly and Tamara Applegate talked about their trip to Palmyra and doing family names at the Palmyra temple.  Our bishop has been gone for over a month now and we all miss him.  Oh yes, we sat in the very front row while Kim, Brian, Joseph, and Alex sat in the very back row.

My new book and sacrament journal
Wendy DeWitt was the teacher in Sunday School today.  Brother Wilhelm is on vacation for the third week in a row.  The lesson was on the friendship between David and Jonathan.
Sandra Wilhelm gave the lesson in young women's about ordinances and covenants.  Those attending: Alice, LeeAnn, Shelly and Jordyn.  We also had two visitors from Gilbert, Olivia and her sister Vanessa.

Back at home the kids were excited to go up to the clubhous and go on a Razr ride to chase rabbits.
The clubhouse needs alot of work.
Addy is hopeful that Emmy and Anna will be
here later in the month to help clean it up.
Ruby is ready to go, goggles and all.
The weather has been rainy and cool and so enjoyable.
Addy and Rowan watched Harry Potter 5 today.  Not exactly a Sunday movie but Addy has been reading the books and Rowan was so excited to watch it with her.

For dinner we had steaks and burgers.  Brian cooked a burger for Addy and we cooked a steak for him.  Of course Ruby had mac and cheese and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  After dinner grandpa made a fire for them to cook smores.  We used the giant marshmallows but they were so messy and gooey.
The kids all took a bath in our big tub, first Rowan and then Addy and Ruby together and then I read them one of my favorites stories about two little pigs named Toot and Puddle.  Rowan and Ruby watched the Curious George movie.

Alex took us to the girls(Michael's cross country team) clubhouse.  It was really cool but too far away.  I need to go back in the daytime and take some pictures.
