President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The General Authorities and General Officers of the Church who speak will focus their messages on our Savior, Jesus Christ, His mercy, and His infinite redeeming power. There has never been a time in the history of the world when knowledge of our Savior is more personally vital and relevant to every human soul. Imagine how quickly the devastating conflicts throughout the world - and those in our individual lives - would be resolved if we all chose to follow Jesus Christ and heed His teachings.

When difficult things are asked of us, even things contrary to the longings of our heart, remember that the loyalty we pledge to the cause of Christ is to be the supreme devotion of our lives. Although Isaiah reassures us it is available "without money and without price" - and it is - we must be prepared, using T.S. Eliot's line, to have it cost "not less than everything."

I was so tired this morning when I got up. Maybe I'm not getting good rest at night and I need to go to bed earlier. Instead of doing anything productive, I went in to my recliner on the couch and turned on the TV to watch one of my favorite Christmas movies, "Mistletoe and Menorahs." I learned why 8 candles are lit on the Menorah. The Persians destroyed the Jewish temple. Through several miracles, the Maccabees rebuilt the temple in 8 days. Such an amazing story!
James wanted me to go to town with him but I was just too tired. I took a nap and ate ice cream instead. I made a schedule this morning but obviously it fell by the wayside.

James cleaned the chimney flue. For awhile the house smelled like burnt creosote. This afternoon I paid bills, redid our budget, and finished my Thanksgiving day blog post.

At six this evening I went down to the church and helped Kathy and Ruth W. decorate the Christmas trees in the two foyers. Kathy has to have things done a certain way. She redid much of what I did. I was a little frustrated but then I realized that's just Kathy. She gives so much service to the ward and I am grateful for that service.

While I was at the church I did get to give Pierce a hug! I left for home around 7:30. I walked and watched the movie, "Christmas Is You," starring Becca Tobin and Matthew MacCaul.
