Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Moroni's introduction of the Book of Mormon to Joseph Smith initiated the work of salvation and exaltation for individuals on this side of the veil in the dispensation of the fulness of times.
Moroni's teachings in September of 1823 about the Book of Mormon and the mission of Elijah established the doctrinal foundation for the work of salvation and exaltation on both sides of the veil.
"It is not where we start but where we are headed."
-Elder Clark G. Gilbert
I woke up this morning thinking about Joseph F. Smith and his vision of the redemption of the dead and how happy it must have made him considering his personal situation and the situation in the world at the time. Nine million people were killed in World War I, 50 million had died because of the Spanish influenza, and he had lost 13 members of his family to death. October 1918, when the vision was received, was the most deadly month in the history of our country and remains so to this day. I had an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for Heavenly Father and the Savior for their plan for the human family and for President Smith and his desire to know more and understand the plan. He received revelation because he was pondering on spiritual things. Early mornings are a good time for me to feel close to the Spirit.
I left to go Christmas shopping around 10. I have to be back by 12:30 so James can make it to his appointment at the urologists.
My first stop was at Hobby Lobby where I wanted to get a big roll of cellophane paper. As a Relief Society presidency we are thinking about making "sock cupcakes" to give to the sisters.
tire a bow on top.
They did not have a big roll of cellophane like I have bought in the past so I got a smaller one. I also bought a couple of puzzlies, a nativity scene for the Grapp's and a trailer scene for Pam Giles.
Just down from Hobby Lobby there is a TJ Maxx. Since I need more gift blankets, this was my next stop. I bought several blankets and when I went to check out the clerk talked me into getting a TJ Maxx credit card to save 10%.
Next I went to Ross which is just across the street and down a few stores. I bought some blankets here but still need a few more.
Sandra Wilhelm had asked me if I could stop by Dick's and pick up wrestling shoes for Ruthie. Ruthie is 11 and she is on the varsity wrestling team according to Sandra. Girls wrestling is becoming a thing. I'm not sure about it. Anyway, she called Dick's and ordered and paid for the shoes and all I had to do was park outside and let them know I was there and they brought me the shoes. I noticed on my way to Dick's that there was a Marshall's on Market St. near Sam's Club so I went back to see what they had. I'm glad I went because I found a SeaHawks blanket for Michael and a couple of other good blankets.
I got home right around 12:30 and James left for his doctor's appointment at 12:40. Darrel was home and I told him that I was going for a walk. I left and walked over to the Safeway parking lot where there is a Jack-in-the-Box for some lunch. I ordered a butter burger and some fries and a drink. I could not eat all of the burger. It was too greasy and I did not like it. I late most of the fries and some of the drink. I walked back to the outside seating area outside of Safeway to eat and then I walked back to Darrel's. I guess he didn't see me when I came back. I went upstairs to take a nap. Later he texted me and asked when I was coming back. I said I was hiding upstairs and he said, "Oh, I didn't know."
James called me and said his cancer is in remission and let's get something to eat. He asked me to be ready to go when he got there so I began packing up. Just before James got here Darrel and Lola left to go pick up Ruby in Prescott. She is leaving science camp early because she has her last cross country meet tomorrow. Lola said she thought I was staying until Christmas because it would be a lot easier than going back and forth. I told her I would be back and she seemed happy with that answer. I watched a show with her last night and we bonded again.
We left Darrel & Trina's around 4:30 or so and when we were half way to Payson I realized that we had forgotten our two cakes. James said there wasn't room for them anyway and I said, we could have made room. We got our celebratory meal at the Subway in Payson. My sandwich paled in comparison to the one I get at Jersey Mike's.
We stopped at the Wilhelm's to give Ruthie her shoes and Curtis his birthday present, a blanket.
Happy Birthday Paul!
When we got home James went out to feed Luna, his baby and I began taking blankets downstairs. I got lots of steps!
