Allow me to share several observations I made as our family has passed through trials.
First, many people will mourn with us; they won't judge us. Due to severe panic attacks, anxiety, and depression, our son returned home from his mission after just four weeks. As his parents, we found it difficult to deal with disappointment and sadness because we had prayed so much for his success. Like all parents, we want our children to prosper and be happy. A mission was to be an important milestone for our son. We also wondered what other people might think.
I woke up at 4 am but after looking at the clock I went back to sleep until 5:30. I have decided that I need at least 7 hours of sleep or at least 7 hours in bed.
Yesterday at the Grapps' Cammy was holding Malea and Malea had her fist wrapped around a small object. Cammy said, "Do you remember the nativity set you gave us last year? Well, we put it out and Malea took the baby Jesus and will not let go of him. She carries him everywhere." I love this and wish I had taken a picture.
James made summer sausage with his elk meat today. He went over to the Grapp's and used their grinder and then brought the meat back here to stuff in rolls and bake in the oven. I helped him stuff the meat into the sausage roll bags. He added some pork to it because elk meat has no fat. It tastes pretty good if you add a slice of cheese and a cracker. It does smell strong so I had him put it in the refrigerator out in the garage.
I actually did two blog posts today, one for last Wednesday, December 1st and one for Thursday, December 2nd. I'm still more than a week behind.
I watched two Christmas movies today and one of them made it to my top 5 list. "The Eight Gifts of Hannakuh" starring Jake Epstein, one of my very favorite actors, made my top 5. The other movie, "Snowed in for Christmas" was good but not Top 5 good. Kayla Wallace, Fiona on "When Calls the Heart" was the actress.
Owen Taylor came over today to borrow something from James. He is pouring concrete up here for his house and he needed a tool. James had him try his summer sausage and Owen loved it. I wish James would have given him some but I guess Owen made his own so he doesn't really need anymore.
James always wants to listen to our book when he walks so that's what we did this evening. I have to get up at 4 a.m. to work in the temple tomorrow so we went to bed a little after 9.
