"Trusting the Doctrine of Christ" by Elder Evan A. Schmutz

It was a beautiful, cool morning. James even put on his jacket. Jared started around 5:30 because it was still dark at 5. JA worked on the deck and James worked on the tree. I fixed breakfast and it was ready a little after 8. I made Jared a cheese omelet and James a fried egg and ham. I also cooked some bacon and hashbrown.

I just keep thinking about sweet little Charlie singing the songs from "The Little Mermaid" and how she knew all of the words. She is such a smart little girl!

I watched a couple of movies today while I was working in my bedroom and walking. The first one was one I had seen before, "The Wedding Veil: Inspiration." Autumn Reeser played the main character in this one and she is my favorite.

The other movie was the sequel to a movie I watched this week, "Big Sky River." This one was called "Big Sky River: The Bridal Path."
I loved it.

JA didn't stop working today to take a nap because the weather was so nice. After lunch and after James went to the dump, he and I went into town on our "Saturday" date. He dropped me off at Walmart so I could do some grocery shopping while he went across the street to Circle K to wash my car and get some gas. He also made a quick stop at Lowe's. When he got back to Walmart he picked up my prescription and met me at the registers. We did the scan and go with him scanning and me bagging the groceries.

While shopping at Walmart I got a text from my friend Sue:
Tabitha has left this mortal world and is at peace and free of pain, being caressed by our Heavenly Father.

Me: Thank you Sue for letting me know. May the Lord bless you and your family.

Before going home we stopped at Firehouse to get subs for James and JA. I'm not eating because it is after 3.

While we were gone in to town Jared rode Luna around the perimeter of our field. He said she behaved herself very well but she seemed really tired when they returned. She is out of shape. We are grateful to Jared for helping her get some exercise.

James was in the dining room indexing and I was in the bedroom walking and blogging and watching a new Hallmark movie, "A Safari Romance", when James came in and asked if we could walk and listen to our book. I was a little annoyed because we had read several chapters going to and from town and I wanted to watch my movie but obviously he didn't. We listened to a couple of chapters and then it was time for bed. James is exhausted and both of his thumbs hurt. After prayer he went to bed and I took a shower and then joined him. A beautiful day but we had no rain.

"There Can Be Nothing So Exquisite and Sweet as Was My Joy" by Elder Craig C. Christensen

Part of my gospel study today was listening to Jared Halverson on "Unshaken Saints," a podcast where he goes verse by verse through the scriptures in this week's "Come Follow Me" lesson. This week we are studying Romans 1-6. Here are a few notes that I took:
Over swing on the side of Grace. Are Jews better than others because they have the oracles of God? No!
We are goners without the grace of God.
2 Nephi 10:24
Works - retrain our will - reconcile my will to God's will.

James left at 4:15 this morning. He has a concrete pour at the Casa Grande airport this morning. He left me in charge of the kitties. I went out to feed them and when I opened the door to come back in the house, Tom ran in. I was cool about it. I just let him do his exploring. He even went upstairs. I called James and told him and he was worried about him looking for a place to go to the bathroom. I told him I hoped he chose his office.

Soon Tom came back down. I was working on my puzzle and he began to rub up against my leg. When I started to pet him he laid down and rolled over for me to rub his stomach. That's his weakness and he was caught. I scratched his tummy and then picked him up. He is huge compared to Tabby and compared to what he was like when we first got him.  Outside you go big boy.

James called me when he arrived in Casa Grande. He had to tell me he missed hitting a Highway Patrol car by like one second. He said his tire monitor started beeping and what with all of the flat tires lately he began pulling off the road and just missed the patrolman whom he didn't see.

The Highway Patrolman was pretty upset and scared and told James he could give him more than one ticket for the things he did wrong.  One thing he did was cross into the "suicide" zone when he left the highway. Once James apologized and explained what happened the officer just gave him a warning and told him to fix his tire monitoring system.

Jared Ammon called me today. He explained that he wanted to come back up to help Grampa but he needed to be back down in the valley before the 17th to help his roommate cleanup their apartment as their lease is up. He wanted to know if he could borrow a vehicle to come back down to the valley if he came up with grampa today. I told him he could use my car. He said he would pay for his gas and that he was very grateful.

I have a semi-annual car insurance payment due in March and September. In March the six month premium was $747.00. I just got a notice that it was due on September 8th and the premium is no $981.50. I have $753.00 saved. I told James and he is going to look in to getting new insurance. Just another example of how everything has gone sky high since Covid and just keeps going up.

It started raining around noon and rained pretty solid until 2. Afterwards it was heavenly, wonderful smells, cool breezes, and sixty degrees.

James and Jared Ammon arrived around 3:30-4. They ate at Arby's in Show Low so I didn't have to fix dinner. While James was outside JA asked me when we were going to get another horse. I think he wants to ride but can't make Luna do anything. Speaking of Luna, Kathy Crane and her granddaughter Kacey and her son Zepp who is probably two, came over to see her the other day. She was in front and came over to the fence so they could pet her. When they started to leave she followed them along the fence. Yes, she does have some endearing qualities, but she is still a stinker.

James was in a good mood when he got home. He used my new portable charger. I told him I wish I would have held out for the Clutch charger because it's thinner and more magnetic. He said I could order one for my birthday and he would pay for it, so I did.
Of course he pays for everything since I don't work outside the home but when he says he will pay for it that means it won't come out of my budget.

Jared Ammon brought his guitar. I can hear him playing it downstairs.

"Your Patriarchal Blessing - Inspired Direction from Heavenly Father" by Elder Randall K. Bennett

Today is my favorite 17 year old's birthday. Rowan is a sweetheart with a heart of gold and the personality to go with it.

My neck pain makes it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. Thank goodness my knee is better.

This on the Maui fire this morning.

I sent this to Darrel and this is what he said and how our conversation went:
D: I saw this. I fear that our airbnb is burned because it is in the part where the fire is. I'll give it a few days and message the guy.

Me: I am so sorry.

D: Well it's worse for the people there.

Me: Yea, fires move so quickly. Those people who fled to the ocean and had to be rescued...

Jared had back surgery this morning. He was doing so well after the surgery that the doctor said he could go home. I hope he doesn't regret that decision after the drugs wear off.

Rio and Katie led the discussion on Elder Gong's talk "Ministering."
It was really good. I especially enjoyed Katie's comments. Here are some of my notes:

Instead of the visiting teaching message in the Ensign we now share our own experiences living the gospel.
Ways to meet needs, fill in the gaps.
Trust assignments.
Higher and holier way.
"Dropping things off" vs. conversations
Consistency brings miracles - L. Tom Perry
Church is the scaffolding - no one is forgotten.
Loving touching points - smiled at, walked with..
Marco Polo
Use our gifts to minister
Create an Ecosystem - basement flooded - 20 people showed up to help
Branches and roots connecting
Inspired action, ripple effect
Some relationships take time, it's the long game.
Everyday better
Becoming a part of someone's life
We're all just walking each other home
A covenant walk with Jesus
There are many diverse ways to minister.
What more can I do?

Willie, Ralph and Roger came over today to do some more welding on the stable. They stayed until noon. James left about 15 minutes before they did to come in the house and get ready for his doctor's appointment with Dr. Moppat. He left for town a little early so he could go by Discount Tire and get a new tire for his truck.

I had almost 9,000 steps when we left for the temple at 3:45. Terry Tignor, Barbara Bartels Tignor's husband, is going through the temple to get his own endowments today. We arrived at the temple the same time as Barbara's son Tim and his wife Alana. Barbara was sitting upstairs in the common area and she looked so happy. We greeted her and she said she was so glad we came.

Other people who attended from our ward: Jim & Linda Diewald, Bob & Kristine Hipps, and Cope Reynolds who was Terry's escort.
We attended the five o'clock session. James and I were in the prayer circle with Barbara and Terry. We gave Terry a hug in the celestial room. He is such a humble guy. I really do like him.

On the way home James stopped at Sonic to get something to eat. It was passed my eating time so I declined. James was impressed.

The skies towards Vernon were dark but we couldn't see an indication of rain in our area. It rained hard in Snowflake and Taylor.

Back at home we walked finishing our book, "An Unwitting Alliance." I also finished my book, "A Heart Worth Stealing."
James and I started a new book, "Chiara's Choice." My new book is called "Love and Lies".

Yes I did.

In April my score was 846.
I'm not sure why it is down so much.
Maybe because my accounts were compromised
3x in the last few weeks.

"He Could Heal Me"! by Elder Peter F. Meurs

Sometimes the hardest part of the day is getting out of bed for both James and I.

It was a beautiful morning. James went out after prayer and scriptures to chop and haul branches. He came back in with a bloody and bruised arm and even a bloody scratch on his nose. He said a branch stuck on the roof fell on him and he probably has pine needles stuck in his arm. He cleaned it up and I helped him put big bandages on it.

I asked Darrel today if he had heard about the fires in Maui and the Big Island. I know he and Trina are planning on going there in September. He said no he hadn't. We chatted back and forth and said we hoped the fires were over by the time they were planning to go. I'm not sure when that is. I know he and Trina are going somewhere on September 6th but I thought they were taking the family so I don't think that is when they were planning on going to Hawaii. I guess I should ask.

James and I went into town this afternoon to mail Rowan's and Joshua's birthday cards. We also got some lunch at Panda to take home and eat. Wow. The difference between Panda and Pei Wei is startling. Panda doesn't even compare.

Dark clouds and lots of rain today. This afternoon it was too wet to work on the tree or the deck, so James decided to work on the front bees. The back bees seem to be gone.

Spent time with Tabitha and Tom on the front porch. They sneak in the house whenever they can and they are hard to get out.

James called Collin DeWitt today to find out how he got his temple recommend renewed before the scheduled night. Collin is in the Denali wilderness in Alaska, fishing. James was jealous.
Collin he said he called Brother Corwin Ellsworth, the stake executive secretary, and he arranged an appointment for him. James thanked him, hung up, and called Brother Ellsworth. Brother Ellsworth said he would look at the schedule and get back with him, which he did. James needs to be at the stake center tonight at 7:45 and President Beeler will work him in.

James went and now he has his temple recommend so we can go with the Tignor's tomorrow when Terry gets his endowments. Not only is James friends with Barbara and Terry, he is their ministering brother.

I walked 15,223 steps today. I made up for Monday when I got 7,600.

Some notes I took today:

President Nelson: Six Ways to Disagree in a Christlike Way:
1. Express feelings with love.
2. Don't think you know best.
3. Don't compete.
4. Don't rigorously defend your position.
5. Let the Spirit guide your conversations.
6. Be filled with charity, the pure love of Christ.

Dallin H. Oaks ( p. 338 New Testament Student Manual)
"...the issue is not what we have done, but what we have become. And what  we have become is the result of more than our actions. It is also the result of our attitudes, our motives, and our desires."
