Jesus Christ Is The Strength Of Parents
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
God has given parents the "sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to . . . observe the commandments of God."

After breakfast this morning James went out to the Wallace's for the ward service project at their place. He was gone two or three hours.

When he got home he changed his clothes and went into town to do some grocery shopping for me for Mother's day. He also gave me some money to spend on myself. I'm already being spoiled and the day isn't even here yet.

I read on Instagram that Greg and Florence Hatch have been transferred to Tongo. They are doing a service mission. Greg is a dentist and I believe that Florence is his assistant. They were originally called to Tongo but because of Covid the country has been closed. It was just recently reopened. Susan and Pierce Goodman are also going there and doing a service mission for the Church. Pierce is a dentist too. I wonder if they will get to meet.

We missed the ward potluck party at the Wallace's this evening. I just didn't feel like going and James actually forgot. We spent a quiet evening at home. I am becoming a bit of a recluse or as Jared would say, socially awkward.

Charlie and Lovie love each other

The Work Of The Temple And Family History - One And The Same Work
Elder Benjamin De Hoyos
Of the Seventy
After the Lord restored the sealing keys to Joseph Smith, the work of salvation on both sides of the veil began in our dispensation.
President Boyd K. Packer taught that "this signal event went unheeded by the world, but it would influence the destiny of every soul who has ever lived or will live. Things began quietly to happen. The Church became a temple-building church.

Up at 4:56. I woke up with swelling on the right side of my face. I had an appointment with Pierce at 10:30 to have him check my teeth for cavities. My swelling wasn't too bad so I consented to go. Wouldn't you know it, I have cavities. Five little ones in the front. Pierce grinded, drilled and filled for about an hour and a half.
We paid him $150 for me, $30 a cavity and the extra $50 was for him to fix James's chipped tooth before he leaves on his mission for Tonga.

When I got up out of the chair and tried to walk I was a little woozy. It was all that drilling I am sure.

James drove back home to get me some Benadryl to take. We think I may have some kind of an allergy. We then made our way into Show Low. We stopped at Sonic for lunch and then went to CVS so James could pick up his prescription. He also went to Lowe's to order something for Barbara's job. My face is swollen on the other side now and is very noticeable. My lips are droopy and I look like I had a stroke. I waited in the car for over 30 minutes. I didn't even want to get out to walk.

Next stop was Walmart. James had the assignment to bring 50 hotdog buns to the Fathers & Sons outing tonight. We stopped at the gas station going out of town for five gallons of gas for the gas container.

The post office in Vernon had three packages for me. One was an Amazon gift card from Sheri, another was some small notebooks I ordered and the last was a set of six little sleeping dolls I ordered.

My first Temu order. I am a sucker for
cute toys. I got this car at Walgreen's
the other day:

I've always had a thing for 57 Chevies. My cousin Dan Strickland had a red 57 Chevy and I wanted to buy it from him. He said it was too souped up for me to drive. He used to race it a Dag's Raceway on Beeline Highway. I was so disappointed. I thought it was such a beautiful car. Red and white on the outside with white leather seats and a red steering wheel and dashboard.

I forgot to mention that this morning before going to Pierce's we went by to see the tile job Chelsea MacArthur needs done in her bathroom. James said he would do it for her at no cost. All she would need to do was pay for the materials. He will probably do it on Monday.

Chelsea says that Alice Wilhelm is going to rent her house. I asked if she was going to live alone and she said no, she is getting married to someone named Trace from Round Valley. We will be happy to have Alice as our neighbor.

James went to the priesthood commemoration program, and cookout at the Wallace's this evening. He took his 50 hotdog buns with him.

I stayed home and ate some of the cherry dessert I made. It was soo good. I also listened to "Divine Signatures". When James got home we did some walking and listened to "Coming Home to Bellingham."

These prescribed burns make everyone nervous.

She is cute!

"There Can Be Nothing So Exquisite And Sweet As Was My Joy
Elder Craig C. Christensen
Of the Seventy
My desire today is to strengthen the connection between joy and repentance - more specifically, the joy that comes when we repent and the feelings of joy we experience as we invite others to come unto Christ and receive His atoning sacrifice in their lives.

Trusting The Doctrine Of Christ
Elder Evan A. Schmutz
Of the Seventy
Preach My Gospel summarizes five important elements of the doctrine of Christ. It says, "We invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end."

I was up at five this morning which gave me an hour by myself, which I need. When James got up an hour later as soon as he was dressed we had prayer and family scripture, reading from the Book of Mormon and the Come Follow Me lesson for this week.

After a little breakfast James left to work at Barbara's. He is working alone today and tomorrow because Greg is gone to the valley.

I am determined I am going to accomplish more today than I did yesterday. I erased all of the episodes of Reba off of the TV. I listened to three conference talks instead of watching TV. I made the chili I've been going to make all week. I made it before noon so James could have it when he came home for lunch.

After lunch James and I took a nap. We are so predictable! I also started a new puzzle. This one is called "Words of Wisdom."

I've never done so many puzzles in my life. I guess they are filling some kind of void or need that I have.

I did three loads of laundry today and made a cherry cream cheese dessert with a walnut crust I have. I haven't tasted it yet but I am sure it is going to be delicious.

James and I walked this evening. I was finished with my 12,000 steps before 8 p.m. It was a good day.

This is a cake. I'm not sure about the antlers.

Your Patriarchal Blessing - Inspired Direction from Heavenly Father
Elder Randall K. Bennett
Of the Seventy
Our beloved President Russell M. Nelson has repeatedly taught about the importance of a patriarchal blessing, that it gives each recipient "a declaration of lineage back to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" and that each blessing "is personal scripture to you."

I did not get to sleep until after 2 o'clock this morning so I slept in until 7.

James went to work at Barbara's complaining about his thumb and how his tools got wet out in the rain. The weather report never said rain.

Today was a slow day, even for me. It's the last day we can pay for the concrete James got last month for the Glendale Airport job and get a discount so I wrote a check and James stuck it in the mail. The problem is, they never sent us an invoice so James had put it on the back burner. I reminded him today and I am glad I did.

I received a handmade Mother's Day card from Lois today and I sent hers off today with the Amazon gift card inside. We also re-mailed Autumn's birthday card. I guess I put the return address in the wrong corner.

After walking, James and I watched a Hallmark movie starring Erin Cahill. She is a publicist to a big league pitcher who just happens to be her former high school boyfriend.

He Could Heal Me!
Elder Peter F. Meurs
Of the Seventy
"My father particularly loved the account of the Savior's visit to the people of Nephi. This sacred account is of the resurrected and exalted Lord Jesus Christ. He had drunk of the bitter cup and suffered all things so that we would not suffer if we would repent. He had visited the spirit world and organized the preaching of the gospel there. He had risen from the dead, and He had been with and received commandments from the Father to share scriptures with the Nephites that would bless future generations. He was exalted and had all of His eternal power and capacity."

I didn't get up until 7 this morning. What's with that?
Kim and Brian are getting ready to leave. James went to work early and then returned and told Brian he had a flat tire on his Bronco. Kim says they don't have a jack to change the tire and she tells Brian that should be a priority.

Dad uses the compressor to fill the tire, then comes in the house and asks me to borrow the Rubber Cement. I guess it worked because they made it home safely. They did miss their one o'clock appointment though.

Love these two!

Kim gave me a card before she left and told me not to open it until Mother's Day. I hope I can resist opening it until then.

I did some vacuuming and dusting and worked on putting the pieces in my Childhood Stories puzzle.

At 2:00 my ministering sisters, Donna Peeler and Stefani Hunsaker came for a visit. They looked at my puzzle, we talked about it for a few minutes and then we went in to sit down. It's funny how we always sit in the same places when they come. We talked about family and then the topic of Barbara Bartels wedding came up. I guess she wants carrot cake. Stefani asked me if I had ever baked a carrot cake and I told her I had for Cammy Grapp's birthday a couple of years ago.
November 2, 2021

After Donna and Stefani left, they brought me "popcorn, popping on the apricot tree", James and I went to town.

On the way to town we listened to "Coming Home to Bellingham."
James dropped me off at Walgreen's while he went to Home Depot.
I wanted to get an Amazon card for Lois for Mother's Day. Walmart doesn't have Amazon cards. I picked up a $50 card and ended up spending $93.

Before going home James and I drove over to Lakeside to see what I am calling the Hamblin mansion. Here is picture:

I wonder how many children they have

I did not feel well this evening. I had beets and toast for dinner.
James and I did some walking before going to bed.

Brian got me these flowers for
Mother's Day 2015
I love them

I love the color of the frosting on this cake

So sad that there is a piece missing. I emailed the company.
Let's see if they send me a new one.

Accessing God's Power through Covenants
Elder Dale G. Renlund
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
"Like the Amazon, we have a natural flow to our lives; we tend to do what comes naturally. Like the Amazon, with heavenly help we can do seemingly unnatural things. After all, it is not natural for us to be humble, meek, or willing to submit our wills to God. Yet only by doing so can we be transformed, return to live in the presence of God, and achieve our eternal destiny."

I got up at 5:30 and had prayer with James before he left for the valley. He has a meeting with Frank and Samantha of Advantage Medical. Frank didn't show so James had to talk to him over the phone. Funny thing is James asked him if they could do a phone meeting and Frank said no so James had to make a special trip to the valley for this "meeting."

I had the perfect breakfast, cake and milk.

I worked on my puzzle this morning. At 12:30 I left with my ministering partner Kathy Crane to visit Chelsea MacArthur and Catherine Halcomb.

The MacArthur's are moving to Alaska in July. They either want to lease or sell their place. Kathy thinks it would be perfect for Amy and Cope Reynolds who are looking for a place to rent.

Scotty, the little four year old calls me Lambson. I think it's because her sister Peyton told her not to call me sister. Chelsea says they won't be taking their dog Ernie to Alaska and Kathy Crane really wants him. She already had two dogs but I think she feels sorry for him.

Catherine was at home and already had the dogs put in the backyard because she knew we were coming. Catherine has been sick with a cough but she is feeling much better.

The main topic of conversation with Catherine was Barbara Bartels wedding. Kathy said that Barbara has not reserved the church yet. I asked her if she would call Barbara and talk to her about reserving the building. Catherine is making Barbara's dress. They are going to the valley on Friday to pick out material.

As we were leaving Catherine said her husband gave her a blessing. He passed away 10 years ago. She is always telling me that she talks to him. I know that she misses him very much.

When I got home I got the two pieces of boxed up cake out of the refrigerator and delivered them to the Thompson's. Maxine had been out working in the yard. Gary was nowhere to be found so Maxine gave me a tour of the house by herself. It is a modular home but is very nice. I especially loved the huge island in the kitchen and the shower in the master bedroom. There was a chair in the shower and she says Gary takes extra long showers and sits in the chair.

When I got home I told Kim I needed to take a little nap. While I was resting, James came home. We had a little something to eat and then Kim, Brian, James and I all played Five Crowns.

James was ahead the first half of the game but he slowly lost his lead. I actually ended up winning, something which rarely happens.

James and I said good night to Kim and Brian and went into the bedroom to walk and listen to our book before going to bed. Our book is called, "Coming Home to Bellingham."

These files are filled with names that Maxine
Thompson has ready for temple work.
