"Come Unto Christ - Living As Latter-day Saints"
Elder John A. McCune
In these latter days, Christ's Church was restored in order to help Christ's covenant children stay on His covenant path. In the Doctrine and Covenants we read, "Behold, this is my doctrine - whosoever repenteth and cometh unto me, the same is my church."
Through Christ's Church, we are strengthened through our experiences as a community of Saints. We hear His voice through His prophets, seers, and revelators. Most importantly, through His Church we are provided with all the essential blessings of Christ's Atonement that can be realized only through participation in sacred ordinances.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's Church on the earth, restored in these latter days for the benefit of all of God's children.

I went into the kitchen this morning when I first got up and opened the blinds on the kitchen window. Luna was standing behind the Razr, close enough to touch it, and her head jerked up when the blinds went up. She looked at me and I looked at her. I think she is waiting for James to come out and feed her. I love her so much. She has such a personality. I think she is lonely and worry about her trying to find other horses.

In other news we had cows inside of our backyard fence today. I guess the power to it was off and one of the calves climbed through the wires and knocked them down and invited his friends to come with him.

In my Hear Him booklet I studied about being yourself, your divine self. I like this quote:
"Only as we become partakers of the divine nature are we qualified to become partakers of divine power." -Elder Neal A. Maxwell

I am studying paragraph 5 of the Restoration Proclamation this week. Today was sentence 2, added to sentence 1 which I studied yesterday:
We further witness that Joseph Smith was given the gift and power of God to translate an ancient record: the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Pages of this sacred text include an account of the personal ministry of Jesus Christ among people in the Western Hemisphere soon after His Resurrection.

We had a bit of a storm pass over today, a big black cloud that dropped a little rain. It looked like Snowflake and Taylor were being pounded. Was I jealous? I was. The weather is cooling off and it will soon be autumn with beautiful falling leaves.

I was going to go shopping this afternoon but I got into repricing my books and I realized how far behind I was. Repricing is critical during textbook season. Although my Amazon balance is over $1,700, I am way behind last years sales. It think part of this is because Amazon has been so slow in processing my books because of the volume of business they are doing. Anyway, I decided to work on books this afternoon and go shopping and mail Darrel's birthday card tomorrow.

Cammy invited us to Emsley's 7th birthday party and Malea's baby blessing, and dinner, on Sunday at 6 pm. I texted all the kids and asked if we could do our study group at 4pm instead of 6. Sheri will be gone to Idaho to pick up Ben, but everyone else agreed to do this. We are grateful because we don't want to miss the discussion.

James worked on the fence today and when he came in he got the news that his electrical conduit inspection failed again. He was upset with the inspector because he listed things this time that he didn't list before. James is going to talk to the City of Mesa and file a complaint against him. That still doesn't solve his problem of a failed inspection. He and Armando talked back and forth. Hopefully Armando can solve the problem.

James went to the post office this afternoon and on the way home he saw Luna about a mile away from our property, hanging out with the cows. She started following him home but when he got here, she was no where in sight. He came in to take a nap because he did not feel well. A couple of hours later, at her feeding time, Luna was still not here. She always comes home at feeding time. We went out on the Razr to look for her. We found the cows but no Luna. James went out again on the Razr but nothing. I went in the car and found nothing. We are hoping she may be up at our new neighbors. They don't live at the property yet but they are building a home. He is a horse trainer and may have some horses that she is visiting. I went to bed with that hope and so did James.

Brothers and sisters, during times of our distress when temples are closed, you can still draw upon the power of your temple covenants and endowment as you honor your covenants. Please use this time when temples are closed to continue to live a temple-worthy life or to become temple worthy. Talk about the temple with your family and friends. Because Jesus Christ is at the center of everything we do in the temple, as you think more about the temple you will be thinking more about Him. Study and pray to learn more about the power and knowledge with which you have been endowed - or with which you will yet be endowed.

Greetings and salutations! This is what we woke up to this morning.

Unwanted invaders or illegal aliens

James had to jump on the Razr and chase these invaders away. We can hardly wait until our fence is finished!

I have been learning about Christlike attributes the past few days and how I can develop them in my life. Here is the list of those attributes:
Faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.

Each new day is an opportunity to try again to be better than we were the day before and celebrate how far we've come even while recognizing our weaknesses. When we fail, rather than dwelling on what we tripped on, it would be better for us to look beyond the stumbling block and try to picture our final eternal destination.
The small steps we take each day to be more Christlike - and thus receive more personal revelation - may seem imperceptible, as if we are only inching along on our path to eternity. But small steps in the right direction on the path of life lead to peace for us and for those we love. President Gordon B. Hinckley said, "There is room for improvement in every life. Regardless of our occupations, regardless of our circumstances, we can improve ourselves and while so doing have an effect on the lives of those about us" (Discourses of Gordon B. Hinckley: Volume 2, 164).

This morning I got my latest shipment of books ready and this afternoon I went with James to mail it at UPS. James took his truck and trailer because he was picking up pipe for the fence. We actually made six stops and I stayed in the truck the entire time. Our first stop was the UPS store where James struggled to carry in my 49 lb box of books. Why doesn't he ask for help? Home Depot is right behind the UPS store and James had to go inside for some things.
When he returned to the truck I told him I was hungry and could we get some lunch. Mind you, parking a truck with a trailer is no easy task. He parked in the parking lot behind Jack in the Box and Taco Bell and walked over to Jack's. He wasn't letting anyone in and we didn't want to go through the drive-thru so he ended up at Taco Bell. He ordered a Mexican pizza, two tacos, and a chicken quesadilla. I think the two tacos were for me but I loved the Mexican pizza and ate it first then ate one taco and saved the other one and the quesadilla for James.

Our next stop was a Tractor Supply. James must have been in there for 15 minutes and the sun was shining on my legs and making them hot. Our last stop was at White Mountain Steel on the hill at the edge of town. James and one of their workers loaded several long steel pipes onto the trailer. They stuck out a good four to five feet from the end but we had no red flag. We made it back to Vernon where James stopped at the post office and picked up several packages.

I was so glad to get home and get out of that truck. We talked about what we are going to do about my car. We can't decide until we see what it would cost to get a new engine. Should we get a new (used) car or truck. Should we ask the Goodman's if we could buy there car. What to do...

I paid lots of bills this afternoon. Many of our personal big bills are due the first of the month. I also cancelled the insurance on my car.
This took most of the afternoon while James was out working on the fence.

As I was looking through Facebook today Bishop Miller's wife posted that they were putting their house up for sale. They are trying to close on a place in Independence, Kansas. They need to sell before October 9th, the closing date on the property in Kansas. I love their family so much and I don't even want to think about them moving.

Sheri called me this evening to talk and I went out on the front porch because the evenings are beautiful right now. Luna saw me and came running. She came right up to the porch and looked at me as if to say, "What's for dinner?" I tried to walk to the back where we feed her while talking on the phone to Sheri. I chose the closest way but the roughest way to walk, by the wood pile up a little hill. I finally got there and got the horse fed while still on the phone. Grateful that I'm a woman and can multi-task.

It was getting dark and I could not get a hold of James on his phone. The Razr is still gone so he is off somewhere working on the fence. He finally came in and announced that his phone was dead.

This evening I had to walk and I also checked Keepa alerts. I have about 70-80 on my phone. I didn't finish before James said it was time for bed.
