Let Doing Good Be Our Normal
Elder Rafael E. Pino
Of the Seventy
I pray that our normality may allow us to experience that state of "never-ending happiness" (Mosiah 2:41) that is promised to those who keep the commandments of God and that, while doing so, we may be able to say, "And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness" (2 Nephi 5:27).
The Eternal Principle Of Love
Elder Hugo Montoya
Of the Seventy
I believe that the supreme demonstration of God's love for us happened in Gethsemane, where the Son of the living God prayed, "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."
I have noticed that the small portion that I can understand of the Atonement of Jesus Christ increases my love for the father and His Son, decreases my desire to sin and to be disobedient, and increases my willingness to be better and do better.
100 Favorite Verses - "A Light Unto My Path"
Psalms 119:105 - Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
John 8:12 - Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Happy Sabbath! James had to be at the church by 8:30 we we left at 20 after 8. I went in the nearly empty chapel and sat in the second row, left side of the podium. James insists that if I let him sit on the aisle seat he will be able to hear. My friend Sue Hubble came and sat by me. Brother Bach, our High councilman came and introduced himself to us. He is from the Wagon Wheel ward.
Sue and I decided we are going to go with the Relief Society sisters on March 15th to the temple. Sue was finally able to get her recommend signed by the stake. Here are the testimonies that were born today:
Bishop Hunsaker - Grateful for the temple and the things that are taught there.
Chimi Tesarek - Jesus died for our sins
The Beals' children
Christy Bowen
Greg Anderson - When the Spirit directs you, act on it. I didn't and a 24 year old died of a Fentanyl overdose I may have been able to prevent.
Charlotte South - The Lord can help you to reach out to others. Little things make a difference. I've had both successes and failures bringing others to the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Mel Wilhelm - We have a great bishop. He really cares for our ward. To me, the celestial kingdom is being with family. The Lord has sent soo many good people to Vernon.
James Lambson - I have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. James talked about Joe Vaal who is here today. A wonderful testimony!
Becky Skousen (YW President) - We have such strong young women in our ward and they help to strengthen my testimony of Jesus Christ. I love my husband Chris, he treats me like a queen.
Lindsey Shaw - I have a testimony . . .
Paula Johnson - I am thankful for . . . There are a lot of people searching for the peace of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We need to be more friendly, outgoing, and inviting.
Tamara Applegate - It's hard to get up when you are already crying. I have a testimony of the power of prayer. Shut the world out when you pray to your Heavenly Father.
Right after sacrament meeting was over I said goodbye to Sue who attends the new members Sunday School class that Tamara teaches, and James took me back to meet Joe Vaal. He is being baptized into our ward but will attend the ward in Snowflake with his granddaughter and her husband. They were here with him and I met his granddaughter Rikki. Joe is a nice looking older man that wore a big brown wooden cross around his neck. I am fine with people wearing crosses because I am assuming they do it to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that was made for them.
I sat by Barbara Bartels during Sunday School and Barbara Sayer sat on the other side of her. After class was over Barbara Sayer had some questions about where and what hell was. I tried to help her but I'm not sure I did any good.
Collin wasn't at church today but Wendy was. James asked her to have Collin call him when he gets home from the valley, which Collin did. James wanted him to come over and give him another blessing but Collin is sick with a sore throat. He gave himself a Covid test and it came back negative. Collin called Owen Peeler and asked him if he could get someone and go over and give James a blessing, which he did.
Pierce came with Owen and anointed James while Owen was voice for the blessing. It was a simple but powerful blessing basically telling James he would be healed of the cancer. Pierce was talking to James as they were leaving and Owen came over to me and handed me two $100 bills. He said it was for some work James had done at the house in Globe.
Barbara Bartels dropped by today to give James a thank you note. When he opened it there was a check for $100 inside. When he told her she didn't owe him any money she said, I like to give bonuses to people who do a good job for me, take it while I still have it. This has been a blessed Sabbath Day!
Chuck Crane left after sacrament meeting today with a sore throat. He did a Covid test and it came back positive.
I did some indexing this evening and watched part of "Don't Miss This" for next week. James packed his suitcase for our trip to the valley tomorrow. I will pack in the morning.
