He Is Risen With Healing In His Wings: We Can Be More Than Conquerors
Elder Patrick Kearon
Of the Presidency of the Seventy
Dear friends who have been so terribly wounded - and for that matter, anyone who has borne the injustices of life - you can have a new beginning and a fresh start. In Gethsemane and on Calvary, Jesus "took upon Himself ... all of the anguish and suffering ever experienced by you and me," and He has overcome it all! With courage, patience, and faithful focus on Him, before too long you can come to fully accept this gift. You can let go of your pain and leave it at His feet.

What a privilege it is to be studying Isaiah, one of the greatest seers of all time.

Queen Elizabeth II died today at the age of 96 at her home in Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

At 10:30 this morning we left for town. We had to stop for construction at the Y. We made it to Persnikkity's at 11:00 for lunch. Our friends, Owen and Donna Peeler joined us for lunch.  I had the Chipotle chicken and Quinoa salad and James, Donna, and Owen all had sandwiches. I had this particular salad for two reasons. Number one, Paula Johnson recommended it on Facebook and the second reason is I wanted to try quinoa. It was good, but not as good as the Chines chicken salad.

I'm glad we came early because they really started to get busy before we left. We saw two sister missionaries sitting with four other younger women and we wondered if they were non-members.

James went to Home Depot, while Owen and I went to Walmart. Owen picked up Donna's prescription and I picked up my tramadol and then went shopping. Owen and Donna met up with James at Central Arizona Plumbing where they picked out a kitchen sink for their home in Globe.

James called me just as I was headed up front to check out. He said he would meet me at the scan and go registers. He checked me out and never even complained about how much money I spent. Darn! I forgot to get the movie, "Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris." I guess I will have to get it the next time I am in town.

On the way home I got a text from a neighbor and one of the sisters I minister to, Chelsea MacArthur. She said she had a parent-teacher conference with Peyton's teacher this afternoon at 4:30 and was wondering if I could watch the kids. I told her I would be glad to.

Chelsea got here around 4:15 and dropped the kids off, including the baby, Boone. Boone was fine as long as he could see the girls. When they went upstairs to play he seemed to get a little worried, but nothing too serious. I was nervous about walking upstairs while carrying him so I tried to find things to entertain him when he seemed like he wasn't happy. I took him outside on the porch for a few minutes but he wasn't impressed so we went back inside. Here he is getting to know Yoda.

Chelsea was gone about an hour. When she returned she was holding a small white paper bag. She said, "I brought you a ribeye steak and some ground beef to see if you are going to like it." I thanked her and Chelsea went upstairs to help the girls cleanup. When they were finished the girls both came downstairs with a bouncy ball. They were having so much fun I told them to take them home with them.

James was outside working on the back yard and I asked him if he would turn on the grill. I grilled the frozen steak and after it was done I let it rest for 10 minutes. I guess you do that so the juices don't leak out when you cut it. Food Network, educational TV.

The steak was delicious and I left half for James. He said he couldn't eat steak at night or it will plug him up when he tries to sleep. He made a spinach, banana, pineapple shake instead.

James did something I asked him to do while he was working in the yard and I am grateful. There were two pieces of equipment sitting in the backyard and he moved them up on the hill, I assume. Thank you honey!

I listened to part of Inklings and Book of Mormon Central today.

Scarlett's first day of school
was September 6th.

"Fear Not: Believe Only!"
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
To any of our youth out there who are struggling, whatever your concerns or difficulties, death by suicide is manifestly not the answer. It will not relieve the pain you are feeling or that you think you are causing. In a world that so desperately needs all the light it can get, please do not minimize the eternal light God put in your soul before this world was. Talk to someone. Ask for help. Do not destroy a life that Christ gave His life to preserve. You can bear the struggles of this mortal life because we will help you bear them. You are stronger than you think. Help is available, from others and especially from God. You are loved and valued and needed. We need you! "Fear not: believe only."

Serenity now, Insanity later! I started taking note for my talk. There are three ways I can go: Cease contention, care for and serve others, and missionary work. I think I will go with missionary work.
I finally had to tell Sheri I wouldn't be coming down on Friday. I would love to come and support Nancy but I just don't want to go by myself and risk falling asleep. I'm not good traveling alone, especially in the afternoon. Now I need to tell Stacy.
James worked at home today. He worked on a contract for Glendale Airport, which they accepted, and he also worked outside leveling and smoothing out dirt for the backyard.
I made veggie soup with beans for lunch. James loved it and I thought it was quite tasty.
I painted a little today but I need a ladder, tape, and a paint roller. James said I was wasting my time painting with a paintbrush and I got a little upset with him and quit. I wasn't pretty.
I got out a birthday card and we signed if for Kim Anderson, Greg's wife as her birthday is tomorrow. James will take it to his elder's quorum meeting tonight and give it to Greg. Greg is the ward mission leader and he will be at the church tonight too.
Charlie and Kacey had their first day of preschool today. Kacey works with the 18 month olds and was pretty tired by the end of the day. Charlie said she liked everything but learning about letters wasn't her favorite.
I got a text from Darrel today thanking me for the birthday card. He said he really appreciated it. I did write some nice things about him in that card.
James and I watched "Marry Me In Yosemite." I never did see the crying woman on the Half Dome rock. I also watched a repeat Hallmark movie, "High Flying Romance" starring Jessica Loudes and Christopher Russel. Here's a quote: "Everyone is just waiting and working to become something more."

"Steady In The Storms"
President Henry B. Eyring
Second Counselor in the First Presidency
I bear you my solemn witness that the Lord Jesus Christ has given you the invitation "Come unto me." He invites you, out of love for you and for those you love, to come to Him for peace in this life and eternal life in the world to come. He knows perfectly the storms you will face in your test as part of the plan of happiness.

James said I woke up in the middle of the night and said:
"Have you seen the necklace I bought? I can't find it." I have no idea what I was talking about, but I do remember doing this.

James and Greg leave for Globe this morning. James empties the dishwasher before he leaves. Thank you, honey.

Catherine Halcomb and I attended the 11:00 endowment session at the Snowflake temple this morning. Our friend Barbara Bartels is there and we sit by her. Maxine, who is usually here didn't come today, but she gave us two of her names to do.

On the way home Catherine and I stop at our favorite after the temple restaurant, Sonic. Catherine always reminds me that Sonic started in Oklahoma, her home state. Catherine buys us lunch, two diet cherry limeades, an All-American hot dog for Catherine, and a chicken slinger for me. I should have paid for the drinks because I could have gotten them half price and they come to over $6. Next time.

After dropping Catherine off I go to the post office. I got Addy's scrapbook and now I just need to wait for the decals I ordered to take it to her in Flagstaff.

I got a text from Sheri asking if I would be coming down on Friday. She wanted someone to go to Nancy's grandson's funeral with her. I told her I would talk to dad and get back with her. I would like to go but if James can't go with me, I don't know if I trust myself to not fall asleep.

Stacy called and said that Joshua is in a play next week. She says he has a really big part in one of the scenes and would like for us to come if we can. I talked to James and we will have to see. Stephanie Likes, someone who went to school with Stacy and Paul, is the theater teacher. Stephanie's been in some commercials herself, and her son is starring on Broadway right now.

James worked outside on the yard this afternoon when he got home from Globe. He is like the energizer bunny, always going and going.

James loved the "Love's Portrait" movie so much he agreed to watch "Marry Me in Yosemite" with me. We started watching it but only got about halfway through before we had to stop and go to bed.

I am grateful for uplifting, happy ending movies.
