3 Nephi 15:9
Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life.
Book of Mormon/"Come Follow Me"
Alma 54 - Ammoron and Moroni negotiate for the exchange of prisonsers - Moroni demands that the Lamanites withdraw and cease their murderous attacks - Ammoron demands that the Nephites lay down their arms and become subject to the Lamanites.
Alma 55 - Moroni refuses to exchange prisonsers - The Lamanite guards are enticed to become drunk, and the Nephite prisoners are freed - The city of Gid is taken without bloodshed.

Few of us have an experience as dramatic as Alma's, yet our transformation can be equally profound. The Savior pledged anciently:
"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart ... , and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit with in. ... And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God."

James and I had family prayer before he left this morning for the valley. He always calls or texts me when he arrives safely.

I wanted to share something from my "Hear Him" book that I read this morning:
"Our Father in Heaven knew that in mortality we would face challenges, tribulation, and turmoil; He knew we would wrestle with questions, disappointments, temptations, and weaknesses. To give us mortal strength and divine guidance, He provided the Holy Spirit, another name for the Holy Ghost."
-Elder Ronald A. Rasband, Led by Divine Design, 4

After finishing catching up on my blog I went outside on the front porch and planted the petunias I got for the pots in the corners of the porch. I still have enough potting soil to plant in the empty planters on the back patio but I need to buy more flowers. So far I have all purple flowers. When I go back, I need to get some different colors, maybe.

I made Rice Krispy treats to send to Ben today. He only has a few more weeks to serve and I want him to have the energy to endure to the end. I also sent Autumn a graduation card and mailed the two books I sold merchant fulfilled. At the post office I picked up four books that I had ordered. The post office is deinitely the hub of activity here in Vernon. I guess you could say the post office and the library.

I tried to buy my three books for the day but I couldn't find any good deals. I did buy one book and then I was tired of looking at the computer and decided to walk instead. I finished my audio book, "The Enemy Between Us," and started another book, "CopyCat." I've decided that Deseret Book Plus needs to add some more proper romances to their audio library.

When I went out to feed Luna this evening she was by the driveway. She followed me back to her corral and I gave her a can of feed and locked the corral door behind me. When James got home he asked me if I fed her some hay and took her mask off. Oops. He got out of bed and went out and took her mask off so she wouldn't have to wear it all night. There are no flies buzzing around at night.

James got home after dark. I was working on my Book of Mormon Study Guide but stopped to read to him from "Aunt Dimity and the Widow's Curse." We only have a couple of more chapters to go. He brought home my new whiteboard and he also delivered Joshua's birthday gift directly to Joshua.

We were in bed before ten but sleep did not come easily. James had a cough and I was restless as I normally am at night.

2 Nephi 10:14
For he that raiseth up a king against me shall perish, for I, the Lord, the king of heaven, will be their king, and I will be a light unto them forever, that hear my words.
Book of Mormon/"Come Follow Me"
Alma 53 - The Lamanite prisoners are used to fortify the city Bountiful - Dissensions among the Nephites give rise to Lamanite victories - Helaman takes command of the two thousand stripling sons of the people of Ammon. About 64-63 B.C.

"A Living Witness of the Living Christ"
Bishop Gerald Causse
Through His Atonement, Jesus Christ not only washes away our sins, but He also provides enabling power through which His disciples may "put off the natural man," progress "line upon line," and increase in holiness so that one day they might become perfect beings in the image of Christ, qualified to live again with God and inherit all the blessings of the kingdom of heaven.

Inklings

I texted Rowan this morning wishing him a Happy Birthday. It is so hard to believe that he, Joshua, and Evan will all turn 14 this year. Where does the time go?

Everything Trina says about Rowan is true.
He is one of the kindest young men I have ever met.
If we forget to say a blessing on the food, you can see him
with his arms folded and eyes closed, saying his own prayer.
He is a great brother to his sisters and is always willing to help his grandpa when he comes to visit. We love you Rowan!

I worked on my blog and bought four books this morning. After lunch James and I went to town. We went in the truck because James wanted to get some hay as well as some horse feed. James dropped me off at Walmart while he went back to Tractor Supply to get the horse feed.

I had to go to Walmart to get an ink cartridge for the printer. We are out of ink and the new cartridge is on it's way but didn't arrive today. I have two books I sold merchant fulfilled that I need to mail and I can't print labels without ink. I also bought a birthday card for Andy Wilhelm. James was on his way to pick me up but I told him I would just walk to Home Depot and meet him there.

We went to the garden section and I picked out some purple and white petunias for the front planters on the porch, and some dark purple petunias and another type of purple flowering plant for the back containers on the back patio. We bought four bags of potting soil and $10 a bag and James bought 4-5 bags of steer manure for the grass. Now we don't have enough room to go get hay for Luna. I guess it's a good thing we have been letting her out to graze.

We stopped at Taco Bell on the way home for dinner. We also went to the bank to deposit a check James received from the City of Chandler, and to get three twenty dollar bills to put in cards.

Back at home I got my books ready to mail and also wrapped Joshua's birthday present for James to take with him to the valley tomorrow. I then went out on the back patio and began planting my flowers. I need to get more flowers because I miscounted the pots that need to be filled. Back to Home Depot soon as Walmart has closed the gardening section, at least for the time being.

James cleaned the pinecones off the grass and spread the steer manure. He also went for a ride on Luna this evening.

We love Monday's because that is the day we get to hear from our missionary. It seems he is doing well in spite of restrictions.

"Come unto Christ - Living at Latter-day Saints"
Elder John A. McCune
Our ability to help others come unto Christ or return to Christ will largely be determined by the example we set through our own personal commitment to stay on the covenant path.
If our true desire is to rescue those we love, we ourselves must stay firmly with Christ by embracing His Church and the fulness of His gospel.

"We are all Enlisted" was the opening song for our home church meeting today. It makes one stop and think, what are we enlisted for? We are enlisted in the Lord's army and we do his work.

I love our little group that meets together on Sunday mornings. We had the Crane's and the Peeler's here today but the Goodman's were at home with family visitors. We missed them. We celebrated Pierce's birthday by having strawberry sour cream cake with whipped cream for our dessert after our lesson. We got a little rain this morning. It stopped just as our visitors were leaving.
Our lesson today covered Alma 43-52 "Stand Fast in the Faith of Christ." Captain Moroni is my hero for this week. What an amazing, well-rounded man. He was spiritual, practical, and prepared. We need more men like Moroni.

While I was getting the strawberry shortcake ready Brother Peeler came over to the kitchen and told me: "Sister Lambson, I don't think I've every enjoyed studying the Book of Mormon with anyone more than I have with you." I thanked him and told him I loved the Book of Mormon with all of my heart.

I got an e-card from my friend Karen today. I think she thinks that my birthday is on the 9th instead of the 19th. This e-card featured Donny Osmond singing, Happy Birthday Karen! It was so fun and I loved it so much I signed up to send e-cards to people I love.

This evening for our Lambson Study Group we discussed :"Trust in the Lord." Here are the talks Kim asked us to study:
1.) "Fear Not; I Am with Thee"
Jean A. Stevens
2. Has the Day of Miracles Ceased?
Elder Donald L. Hallstrom
3. It Is Better to Look Up
Carl B. Cook
4. Choose to Trust the Lord
Michalyn Steele
5. "Do We Trust Him? Hard is Good?"
Elder Stanley Ellis

Kim lead the discussion. Those attending:
Kim, Brian, Sheri, Stacy, Paul, Kacey, James and Karen. Jared had taken Molly home and didn't make it for most of our meeting. Oh yes, Charlie was there too and she was so good!

This evening James and I both wrote letters to our missionary, Elder Trezise. I told him to count his blessing instead of the days he has left to serve.
