Mark 14:21
The Son man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

"Helping the Poor and Distressed"
President Dallin H. Oaks
First Counselor in the First Presidency
My subject today concerns what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members give and do for the poor and distressed. I will also speak of similar giving by other good people. Giving to those in need is a principle in all Abrahamic religions and in others as well.
Up at 5:50. James went to work at Bartel's. Deven Crane helps him today. The mechanic he called never showed up. I left for the temple at 9:30. I stopped at the church to pick up Ruth Wallace and then we drove on to Dollar General where Sue Hubble was waiting for us. Catherine Halcomb isn't coming today. She said she was just too busy.
The first person Sue and I saw when we entered the upstairs of the temple was Pierce. He had his head down but he lifted it up looked at us and smiled. When I got into the dressing room I was greeted by two friends, Donna Lundgren and Jani Huso Johnson.
When we got into the endowment room I looked around and realized there were nine people in our ward in this session: Maxine Thompson, Debra Martin, Donna & Owen Peeler, Chuck & Kathy Crane, Ruth, Sue, and I.
On the way home we put in our Sonic order. Ruth gave me $5 for her order and $5 for gas. We all ordered chicken slingers. I also ordered one for James and Sue ordered one for her dinner. She likes them as much as I do.
Some things I learned about Sue and Ruth today. Sue is going to Silver City, New Mexico on Thursday. She has two sisters that live there, one is her twin sister who is mentally handicapped. Her other sister, who is 61 takes care of her twin. Her sister is a barrel racer and has some big rodeo to go to so Sue is going down to stay with her other sister.
When Ruth found out I had rheumatoid arthritis she said that the reason her family moved to Arizona was because her mother had rheumatoid arthritis. She said her feet were so misshapen she had to order specially made shoes. Ruth also said who is her husband is struggling with his health. I do enjoy my time with these sisters but I must say, I missed Catherine. I do love temple days!
I told James I had a chicken Slinger sandwich for him. It just so happened it was right when he was bringing a load of dirt from Barbara's. He came in to get it and told me thank you, he hadn't had any lunch. It was almost 2:30.
I kept walking until I had over 12,000 steps. I'm back! I also finished last Wednesday's blogpost. I hate to be this far behind and it seems to happen more than I like.
We had chicken tacos for dinner again. Afterwards I talked to Stacy about coming down with Dad next Wednesday and while he has his meeting in Glendale, he could drop me off at her house and we could go to the temple. She liked that idea except for the fact that she really isn't a morning person.
I studied Come Follow Me with kristenwalkersmith and posted a picture of what I thought was an old picture of Joshua and Evan but turned out to be a picture of Joshua and Max. I forgot how much they looked alike when they were younger.
Watched "A Jolly Good Christmas" starring Will Kemp. Why in the world did they take someone from England, and make him a New Yorker without his English accent. The story was set in London but Will did not have his usual English accent and I was a little put off. So was Kim because I talked to her about it.
