"Conversion Is Our Goal"
Mark L. Pace
Sunday School General President
Consider this profound statement from the introduction to Come, Follow Me:
"The aim of all gospel learning and teaching is to deepen our conversion to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. ...
"... The kind of gospel learning that strengthens our faith and leads to the miracle of conversion doesn't happen all at once. It extends beyond a classroom into our hearts and homes. It requires consistent, daily efforts to understand and live the gospel. Gospel learning that leads to true conversion requires the influence of the Holy Ghost."
Left for Globe and the valley with James around 5:30 this morning. Gas is still $4.99 in Show Low. It's the same in Globe. In the valley it's $5.59.
We listened to Greg Madsen on CWIC talk to a group of people in Provo about Critical Social Justice and what some professors in college, even BYU are teaching that goes against what we believe. It was enlightening but I'm not sure what I can do about any of this. James says he is going to talk to Addy and Max about it or write them a letter. I think that's great.
When we got to Globe it was before 8 a.m. Ace Hardware, where James needed to get something, was not open. I dropped James off at the Peeler's and was on my way, driving the rest of the way to my infusion on my own.
I arrived at AARA 45 minutes early. I thought I would get my chest xray but when I told the girl at the desk she said there was no order for a chest xray for me. Okay, that's fine with me, I didn't necessarily want to get one anyway. I sit down and start filling our paperwork when I am called back for my infusion. That want to start me early. Yiipee!
I went in to see Dr. Kumar with my infusion still in. She ask me some questions and poked around a little and that was it. No mention of a chest xray.
I went back into the infusion room and finished up before leaving and heading for Stacy's. She has a father's day gift for James and my mother's day gift too. She got James a container of pinions, dark chocolate covered almonds, and some candied pecans. She gave me one of her purses. I chose the Winnie-the-Pooh one.
I didn't stay long at Stacy's but Joshua answered the door and I got to give him a hug. The only dog who barked at me was Sophie. Vader and Shipley were happy to see me.
I got an email from Paula Johnson today. There is an investment company who wants to buy part of the old "Ranch" and put in an RV park. This old "Ranch" is just down the road from us and would cause lots of traffic on 3261. James and I discussed it over lunch at Chalo's where I had a green chili chimi and James had two tacos. James did not like his tacos, my chimi was "ok." Chalo's is in Globe and my friend Jackie Hall told me years ago that's where she and Elliot always eat when they are going through Globe.
On the way home we listened to Steve Young's book, "The Law of Love." I love this book and feel like Steve gives some really good advice on how to show greater love in our lives.
We hit a huge rainstorm near Forestdale. It was raining so hard and James was having a hard time keeping the car on the road. If I would have been driving I probably would have stopped.
We stopped in Show Low and filled up with gas. Who knows when the prices will go up again. When we got home I rested and James did some indexing. He went to "Come Follow Me" at Pierce's this evening. I was too tired to go. James said they got started late because there was a discussion about the proposed RV park. Here were a couple of comments: Chuck - "I'm putting my house up for sale and moving." Pierce - "Let's buy the property." James laughed at Pierce and told him we didn't have the money to do that. I love that Pierce wants to buy the property. I think that's his answer to most problems.
I made plaques for Sue and Pam this evening of Luke 1:37.
With God nothing shall be impossible.
With God nothing shall be impossible.
James wanted to get some more steps and I needed them to so we walked while listening to "Yorkshire Carol."
