"The Covenant Path: The Way To Eternal Life"
Elder Adeyinka A. Ojediran
Of the Seventy
I testify that covenant keepers are promised "peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come" (D&C 59:23). I bear witness that as you regularly partake of the Savior's emblems through the sacrament, you will have His Spirit to guide you on the covenant path and stay faithful to your covenants. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

"Valiant Discipleship In The Latter Days"
Elder Jorg Klebingat
Of the Seventy
"True disciples of Jesus Christ," President Nelson taught, "are willing to stand out, speak up, and be different from the people of the world. They are undaunted, devoted, and courageous."

James is not going to his meetings today. He is in too much pain. At first he told me to go and come directly home so I could take him to the ER. A little later he said he needed to go to the ER now. Instead of getting ready to go to church, I got ready to go to the ER, wearing a sweater and skirt as if I were going to church. We had to stop at the church. I gave the two talks for the RS lesson to Natalie Robles and gave Gary Thompson the new ministering assignments to hand out in Elder's quorum. I hurried in and out before sacrament meeting.

Thank goodness the ER at the Show Low Hospital was not busy this morning. Here is a picture of James waiting to be called back:

Looks normal except for the sock
and of course the walker

When we go back we aren't in the room very long when a paramedic with a mask on walks in. She says hello and I look up and see a pair of eyes that look like Trenda Wilhelm Ellsworth and at first I think it is Trenda. I soon see the tatoo on her arm and I realize that it is Alice, Trenda's sister whom I remember is studying to be a paramedic. It is great to see Alice, a former Young Woman of mine and someone James was a home teacher to. We had a nice visit with Alice, we both love her and her family. It was great to see her!

A X-ray is taken and Dr. Lesonbe comes in to tell James that is left ankle is broken on one side and is sprained on the other. He is to wear a boot and use crutches for about six weeks. This isn't good news for James who is trying to finish up the Peeler job and is getting ready to start the Glendale Airport job. We have a boot, and crutches at home. The nurse said they called in a prescription to CVS for Tramadol, so when we leave we head to CVS. Of course it is not ready but they say they can have it ready in 30 minutes. I don't believe them so we head for home. About 7 miles out of town James gets a text that his prescription is ready so I turn around and go back. 20, 50mg Tramadol pills doesn't seem like enough, but we will take what we can get.

I get lunch for James and myself, give James some Tramadol and he goes in to take a nap. I try to rest but sleep doesn't come so I try to work on my blog. When James gets up it's almost dinner time. We have shrimp, cottage cheese and pineapple for dinner. I also make some pumpkin cheesecake muffins that are delicious! James says, "I'm having one of these for breakfast."

We watched an Up movie this evening called, "Plus one at an Amish wedding." Such a cute movie and I feel it was appropriate for the Sabbath.

"Divine Love In The Father's Plan"
President Dallin H. Oaks
First Counselor in the First Presidency
In many relationships and circumstances in mortal life, each of us must live with differences. As followers of Christ who should love our fellow men, we should live peacefully with those who do not believe as we do. We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father. For all of us, He has destined life after death and, ultimately, a kingdom of glory. God desires all of us to strive for His highest possible blessings by keeping His highest commandments, covenants, and ordinances, all of which culminate in His holy temples being built throughout the world. We must seek to share these truths of eternity with others. But with the love we owe to all of our neighbors, we always accept their decisions. As a Book of Mormon prophet taught, we must press forward, having "a love of God and of all men."

James has been trying to pay his sales taxes since the 19th on the states automated sight. The last message he got said he needed to get security on his computer and change his email address. He spent most of the morning doing this but he still has not been able to get on their site to pay his taxes. He really doesn't owe any taxes but if he doesn't register they will charge him $50 for being late. To bring a little joy into his life I made him a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup for lunch. Food has a way of bringing joy into an otherwise stressful day.

This afternoon James went to the dump. He called the Crane's and took their trash too. Chuck's knee is giving him grief and he asked James if he would go to ward council for him in the morning and then conduct Elder's quorum and hand out new ministering assignments. James is happy to do this for his friend.

While I was in the bedroom painting James was outside drilling holes in the house to fish the Starlink cable through. I get a phone call and see that it is James. I answer the phone and he asks me to please come outside to the back of the deck. This is what I see:

I never wanted to see this again
in my life!
I go downstairs and get the walker and he is able to get up and make it back in to the house. I give him some Tramadol and he seems to be okay. His left foot hurts and is a little swollen. We go into town to get Panda and he says I am going to have to drive. When we get home we watch part of a movie and then go to bed. He is in a little pain but not too bad. He calls Chuck and tells him he probably won't make it to ward council but will still conduct Elder's quorum.

"The Power Of Spiritual Momentum"
President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
My dear brothers and sisters, with all the pleadings of my heart, I urge you to get on the covenant path and stay there. Experience the joy of repenting daily. Learn about God and how He works. Seek and expect miracles. Strive to end conflict in you life.
As you act on these pursuits, I promise you the ability to move forward on the covenant path with increased momentum, despite whatever obstacles you face. And I promise you greater strength to resist temptation, more peace of mind, freedom from fear, and greater unity in your families.

James left for Globe this morning by himself after I offered a family prayer. He says that my prayers inspire him. I'm not sure why but I'm grateful that he feels that way.

A couple of weeks ago we had a signup sheet go around in Relief Society. The signup was for rolls, salad, or desserts to bring to the ward campout, which is tonight. We had 17 sisters signup and Tamara asked if anyone could call and remind them of what they said they would bring. I said I could do it.

One of the sisters was Sally Sedig. She was supposed to bring rolls but she is going to have to be excused. She broke her leg and is in rehab in Tucson. I mentioned it to Cheryl, her daughter-in-law, who signed up to bring dessert hoping she might agree to bring rolls for Sally. I don't know if she did or not.

I contacted all of the 16 other sisters via a phone call, text, or leaving a message. Ruth Wilhelm was asked to bring Dutch oven potatoes so she won't be bringing a dessert. Also, Paula Johnson, who signed up to bring a dessert said she would not be coming. I gave this report to Tamara and she said that the bishop had asked Jimmie, her husband, to please bring two fruit cobblers. That should makeup for the desserts, but I'm not sure about rolls.

I also sent out an email to all of the sisters who have their emails registered through the church regarding Sunday's Relief Society lesson.
I finally finished all of my Relief Society assignments for the day and moved on to something else.

This afternoon at 1:00 I participated in Dawn's card-making Zoom meeting.  Carmen just arrived from Pennsylvania. She is at Lois and Dawn's and will be a part of the meeting. She is here to celebrate her mother's 95th birthday which is on October 2nd.

Others at Lois and Dawn's: Cathi, Laura, Rebecca, and over course Lois and Dawn. Connie is on too from San Angelo, Texas.

Connie sent all of us in the mail instructions on how to make a card with several different folds. She had in her package a finished card, which was very helpful. Here is what it looked like:

Pierce had asked James to help with the plumbing on his brother-in-laws home. James thought it was tomorrow but Pierce called him while he was still in Globe and asked if he was coming over. He needed him today.  James apologized and told Pierce he thought it was tomorrow and said he would leave right away and should be able to be there at 4:30. When James got to Show Low it was 4:00 and he still could have made it to Pierce's around 4:30 except that he got held up by the Antique Car Show parade through Show Low. By the time he got to Vernon it was raining like crazy so he came straight home. He felt terrible that he misunderstood Pierce on the time and day.

I had a couple of people call me asking if the campout had been cancelled. When I called Lynda Price back she was at the campout eating so I guess they found shelter from the rain. It rained really hard for quite awhile but eventually stopped.

James and I walked and listened to our book and then watched at episode of "McBride."

James took these photos on the
way to Globe.
