Happy Birthday Brian and Dallin. It's funny because Adam and Joe share a birthday and so do Brian and Dallin.

Happy 49th Birthday Brian!

Happy 29th Birthday Dallin

Brian and Dallin are so lucky. The each got a birthday cake made by Kim.
Dallin's is strawberry cheesecake

Brians' turtle cake with butter

Yummy!

Brian sent us a thank you for his birthday card.

James went all the way in to town to rent a saw to cut out concrete at the Hipps's. When he got back on the job he realized it did not have a blade so he had to go all the way back in to town.

He worked until around noon. Kristine Hipps invited him inside to have lunch with them but he declined.

He came home and he and I had a hotdog for lunch. Not just any hotdog, but a Hebrew National!

Armando was is behind schedule on the barbershop job and we have still not received the $30,000 owed to us on the Chacon job. The insurance company is demanding a break down for all money spent.

James is going down on Monday to help Armando at the barbershop.

My arm is still giving me grief. I suppose I should go to the doctor and get it x-rayed. I just keep thinking it's going to get better.

One of our longtime friends from Chandler, Barbara Ellsworth, passed away. Her husband Dean was our first home teacher when we moved to Chandler and James built their home as well as Dean's brother Bill's home. They lived next door to each other.

Listened to "Flat Deception" while walking.

We have a couple of pigeons that are trying to roost under the eaves of our back deck near our bathroom window. Every time I go out on the deck I hear wings flapping as they fly away. It's a little disconcerting and I wish they would go somewhere else.

James has picked up a stomach bug. He thinks it's from the cabbage soup he ate last night. He was in bed most of the morning and part of the afternoon until he felt better.

The swelling in my face has gone down, still not normal but so much better. In other news, I am having difficulty using my right arm and still can't lift my arm to do my hair. Good thing I'm not going anywhere.

Tom is following me everywhere. I think he's afraid I'm going to leave him again.

Today was Aunt June's graveside service. I am sorry we were not able to go.

And that all their works may be brought to naught, and be swept away by the hail, and by the judgments which thou wilt send upon them in thine anger, that there may be an end to lyings and slanders against thy people.

James left early this morning to do some painting at his mom's house. He is painting under the eaves and the trim in the front of the house where he and Armando do some repair work. Now Lois and Dawn have decided they want the entire house painted. Oh dear.

Back at the resort I slept a couple of more hours then got up and took a shower. We are going home today and I have lots to do.

Stacy's family is coming this afternoon after we leave. They are staying the rest of the week.

James brought Whataburger Juniors home for lunch. We ate lunch together and then James took a nap on the bed without sheets, they were in the dryer, while I began packing up.

James made four trips to the car carrying things down. We didn't go straight home. We had to go to Chandler to Chandler Eyecare to drop off Ian's and Max's birthday cards. Today is Ian's birthday and Max's is July 1st and they will still be in Europe.

While we were in Chandler we stopped at the Sonic on Ray Rd. to get cherry limeades for the ride home. We went the Payson way and got stopped for roadwork just outside of Heber where they are widening the highway.

We got home around 6-6:30. James fed the horses and watered plants and trees. Tom followed me around the house meowing. He would flop down in front of me and I would stop and rub his back. He still kept meowing. Finally I held him on the recliner where he took a cat nap while I pet him. When he woke up, he wanted to go outside. I guess he missed me and just needed a little lovin'.

We finished "A Proper Scandal" and now James and I are both reading "Flat Deception."

Tom jumped up in my chair with me.
He never does this. I went over to
the recliner and he climbed up in my lap.
He missed me and is afraid I'm going to leave him.

'All things work together for our good to them that love God.'
D&C 109:29
We ask thee, Holy Father, to confound, and astonish, and to bring to shame and confusion, all those who have spread lying reports abroad, over the world, against thy servant or servants, if they will not repent, when the everlasting gospel shall be proclaimed in their ears;

When I woke up this morning the left side of my face was swollen so badly I couldn't see out of my left eye. Even though it is hideous, I am going to post a picture.

When Ben was little and I had cellulitis in my face
he said: "Gramma, don't look at me with that face."

We had a meeting with the resort this morning at 8:30 about our ownership. We both had to come and if we did, we would have received a $200 Visa card. I had to cancel. James told me I could take an extra $200 out this month for my personal draw. Thanks Honey.

Dawn had asked me to come over this afternoon to make cards with her and Lois. I had to cancel and I sent this photo to Dawn so she would see that I was legit.

I also cancelled my eye appointment and James's with Chandler Eyecare. We were going in tomorrow morning. I also sent the photo to Sheri. She kept texting me and insisting that I call the doctor. I guess she has never seen my face like this before.

I told Stacy and she said I needed to go to the doctor and get an epi pen. She said that if my air passages became blocked having an epi pen could save my life. I guess that is a reason to go to the doctor.

James went to the store and got me some extra-strength Benadryl, which seems to help. BTW, I still can't use my right arm. It looks like I have been in a fight. I guess I could say, "Why me?" but what good would that do?

We still have $100 left on our Cheesecake gift card. Today I ordered, at least I thought I did, Thai chicken lettuce wraps. James ordered stuffed mushrooms. When James went to pick up our order there was no chicken with my lettuce wraps. James called to complain. He spoke to the manager who said he had our order right in front of him and that I had ordered avocado lettuce wraps which have no chicken. I checked and he was right. It was my mistake. James was on his way to see a doctor about having surgery on his thumb. The manager told him to call and they would have an order of Thai chicken lettuce wraps waiting for him to pick up, no charge. What a nice gesture!

The chicken lettuce wraps were good but nothing compared to the ones I love at Pei Wei. Oh well, they were free. Oh yes, I also bought a piece of my favorite cheesecake. Plain cheese cake with fresh strawberries in a glaze. Yummy, creamy, and delicious! I better get to walking!

Listened to "Flat Deception" and "A Proper Scandal."

Monday, June 10, 2024: Hurt my right arm doing my hair, now I can't lift it, Lois & Dawn, Cheesecake Factory, Costco, Fry's, Chikfila, "Walk with Him" Testimony of Jesus, Elder Christofferson

"Jesus Christ is the Center of Our Lives" by Elder Jose L. Alonso
Walk with Him
"The Testimony of Jesus" by Elder D. Todd Christofferson

James made an early morning, before breakfast trip to our local Fry's Food Store here in northern Scottsdale.

I had yogurt and toast for breakfast and then settled in to watch and listen to "Walk with Him" with Barbara Morgan Gardener, and Elaine Dalton. Today they discussed Elder Christofferson's General Conference talk, "A Testimony of Jesus Christ." Here are a few notes that I took:
Invite the Spirit to teach you.
Prophetic Priorities. With President Hinckley it was Retention. With President Monson it was the One and with President Nelson , staying on the Covenant Path.
Word Cloud
The Doctrine in this talk is The Plan of Salvation
Jesus is the heart of the temple
Honorably hold a Name and a Standing
"Receive" agency involved
Our Homes should be as Temples with should treat each other with kindness and charity
Am I doing what I covenanted to do?

I got this text from Kim about 8:22 this morning:
Luna is in the front of the cabin. How did she get out of the gate and how do I get her back in. Have Brian call dad. Brian is still sleeping.
When he wakes up have him call. He probably just needs to get a bucket of grain and lead her back in. I can do that. Where do I lead her back in? Dad's going to call you. ...... How did it go?
Good. By the time we got Luna, Apollo was out too. But they were both excited to come back in for food. Thank you!

I hurt my right arm while doing my hair today and now I am unable to use it. We are going to Lois and Dawn's and I asked Dawn if she had an arm sling. She said that she didn't and I didn't think anything more of it. When we arrived at their house Lois had a clean dish towel wrapped as an arm sling. I put it on and it fit perfectly. James says he remembers using dish towels when he had a hurt arm as a kid.

Lois gave me another quilt. I'm not sure why but it's beautiful.

Dawn fed us a little lunch. We didn't eat much because we are going to Cheesecake Factory later. She did give each of us a piece of chocolate coconut cake. Dawn doesn't eat sugar and Lois eats very little so when company comes we get the sweets.

Aunt June passed away a few days ago.  Uncle Paul is coming. He and Aunt Faye and Lois are having a graveside service on Thursday. We will not be here because James thought it was going to be on Wednesday and he scheduled an appointment in Vernon on Thursday. I spoke with Lois a little about June. She said she has had Alzheimer's and has not recognized anyone for a long time. How sad. I wish we were going to be here for the service.

We did some shopping at the Costco in Chandler to the tune of $187 and then we went to Cheesecake Factory for our second lunch. We ordered off the appetizer menu. I ordered crab bites and he ordered crab wontons. We enjoyed the sourdough bread and then we shared our wontons and crab bites. We both agreed that we liked the crab bites best, especially with the mustard sauce. I also got a diet Coke but paid $4.95 for it so I got one to go.

Back to our room at the resort. Crank up the air conditioner and nap time. After napping we walked around the room. For dinner we both got three chicken strips from the local Chikfila. We asked for Chikfila sauce but they gave us no sauce. James called and complained but he said the person didn't seem to care.

I forgot Charlie's Sunday pictures so I went back and posted them along with one of Mason.

Dawn is on a special diet to help her memory.
She tries not to eat sugar or meat. This is a meat
substitute that is really quite good.
