"Remember What Matters Most"
President M. Russell Ballard
Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
When my wife Barbara passed away, our children put on her headstone several lessons that Barbara wanted them to remember. One of those lessons is "what matters most is what lasts longest."

James left at four this morning for the valley. He is working on the 51st Avenue job. I guess Armando wasn't through sanding the drywall and he had to breath that dust most of the day. He tried to make it home in time to go and help clean the temple.

He left early and was making good time when just outside of Payson traffic was backed up. He forgot it is a holiday weekend and half of the valley is heading for the mountains.

We were to be at the temple by 8 p.m. He called me in Show Low and said he wasn't going to make it. I did not want to go by myself, driving at night, so I texted Brother Miller and told him we would not make it and explained to him what happened to James. He said it was okay. I didn't know at the time but the Miller's, our temple cleaning co-ordinators, didn't make it either. Something was wrong with Cress and they spent the evening in the hospital.

I had a good day. I read my scriptures, blogged, worked on my puzzle and walked. This afternoon I did some errands. I am making a birthday cake for Janna Grombach tomorrow and I needed to go to Walmart to get some cream cheese and buttermilk.

My first stop was at the post office where I picked up a package which had James's new Stanley tumbler in it and a potassium supplement that I ordered. Everything was fine on my way into town as I listened to my book, "Petticoat Spy" until I got to the hill by the Taco Bell. Just like James said happened to him, traffic just abruptly stopped. It took forever to go a mile. Mind you, that mile has three lights. As I was approaching the last light, the one between the hospital and Walmart, I decided to take a short cut. I was going to Circle K which is across the highway from Walmart. I turned into the Walgreen's parking lot and cut across to the Circle K. I probably saved myself five minutes. I saw the reason for the traffic holdup. There had been an accident in front of Walmart and they were just cleaning it up and had one lane blocked. They finished while I was getting gas. Before I purchased a carwash I looked over and saw that the carwash had a rope pulled across the entrance with a big closed sign on it. Darn! I will have to go to the Splash and Dash on the way home.

Walmart was busy but not the busiest I've ever seen it. The first thing I put in my basket was a bag of cherries. I know that James will love them. I got two boxes of frozen shrimp, butterfly shrimp for James and coconut shrimp for me. As I was going down the aisle to get some Coolwhip I happened to pass by the ice cream and noticed that Bluebell had pint-sized cartons of Dr. Pepper Float ice cream. I had to try one so I put one in my basket.

When I was finished in the grocery section of the store I headed over to get a new broom. I want a broom and dustpan in my entryway closet  to use on the wood floor that gets so dusty. I only notice the dust in the afternoon when the sun is shining through the front door and side windows.

The last thing I bought was cards, one for Barbara and Terry's wedding, Emmy's birthday, Pam's birthday, and Janna's birthday. When I went to checkout I noticed a cashier with no line. I hurried over and began placing my items on the counter. No self-checkout today!

As I left the parking lot I had my pint of ice cream in my lap. I am out of the plastic spoons I normally have in my glove compartment. Oh well, I will use the metal straw from my tumbler. The ice cream was good but I'm not sure if was worth the calories and if I will buy it again. I needed to try it once.

There were two or three cars ahead of me at the Splash and Dash. I finished up my ice cream and listened to my book, "Petticoat Spy", which I love by the way. ( I looked through my "Books I Have Read"
and realized I read this book back in 2017. It doesn't matter because I don't remember the details, although I did think it sounded a little familiar). I bought the more expensive package and spent $12. Everything was fine until it was time to move forward for the drying. I couldn't get my car out of park. I panicked and tried several times but it wouldn't move. I was afraid something was wrong with my transmission. I got out of the car and went to the woman behind me and told her I couldn't get my car to move. She was very kind and understanding. I went to get a worker to see if they could help. Brother Skousen, from our high council was the worker I spoke to. His Brother Christ is in our ward so I know he is a good guy. As we walk over he says if you can't get it out of park, I can't push you. I sat down and tried again when Brother Skousen said to me, put your foot on the brake, which I did and the gear slid into drive. I was so panicky I didn't realize I wasn't stepping on the brake. I was embarrassed and relieved at the same time. Thank you Brother Skousen! I was on my way. Of course I missed getting my car dried.

James got home around 7:30. He was so sad about not living up to his commitment to clean the temple. We walked and listened to our book, "When Dreams May Come" which honestly, I am a little bored with, especially compared to "Petticoat Spy."

Kacey's post: I had forgotten just how stunning all the stained glass is in the San Antonio temple. And so nice to go back to the place where we sealed the deal. It's been an exhausting couple of days but some of my favorites.

The Teachings of Jesus Christ
President Dallin H. Oaks
First Counselor in the First Presidency
We are given the scriptures to direct our lives. As the prophet Nephi taught us, we should "feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do."

Today was a good day. Beautiful weather and I felt good. I am grateful. James is still holding off going to the valley until Armando and his crew are finished with the drywall. It will probably be tomorrow.

I love President Eyring. He is the sweetest man. I love the story in his talk about meeting someone while traveling and asking her to tell him about her family. She tells of her daughter who is struggling and wondering if God had any message for her. President Eyring asks if he can have her email address and sends her this email:
The Lord loves you. He always has. The Lord wants you to come back. Your promised blessings are still in place."

He is a member of the First Presidency showing us how to minister.
He starts the conversation with a stranger by saying, "Tell me about your family." I love this man.

My blood sugar was a little high today so I had a protein breakfast, ham cheese, cottage cheese, a protein shake and some black berries.

After breakfast and scriptures and prayer with James I went in to my 20 minute routine. Twenty minutes at the computer or studying, 20 minutes walking and working on my puzzle, 20 minutes back to the computer.

James and I walked and listened to our book, "What Dreams May Come". I have one problem with this book. One of the main characters has been in a coma the entire time.

I started a new book about the American Revolution called, "Petticoat Spy." I also listened to President Nelson's talk, "Peacemaker's Needed."

James got an email from Advantage Medical asking him to sign a lien release for the work on 51st Avenue. James signed with the stipulation that he get paid! $50,000 is a lot of money!

James used the Cat to level the backyard today and then drove it back over to Barbara's. He called me to come and get him. This is the third time and I may have murmured a little. I felt terrible when I drove up and he looked so sad. I will never complain about picking him up again!

I found a great recipe for a red velvet cake for Janna Grombach's birthday. All I need to do is add chocolate chips per her request.

"Peacemakers Needed"
President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Anger never persuades. Hostility builds no one. Contention never leads to inspired solutions. Regrettably, we sometimes see contentious behavior even within our own ranks. We hear of those who belittle their spouses and children. of those who use angry outbursts to control others, and of those who punish family members with the "silent treatment." We hear of youth and children who bully and of employees who defame their colleagues.

I felt good today. In my morning prayer I prayed that I would be organized and be able to accomplish my goals. It worked.

I made time to study for my lesson which I will be giving on Sunday. I caught up on my blog and walked over 12,000 steps. I read from the Book of Mormon and Come Follow Me lesson.

I made taco casserole for lunch and listened to "The Sergeant and the Girl Next Door" while walking.

James came home from working outside at Barbara's and said it was 90 degrees outside. We have hardly used the heater and have not yet turned on the AC so hopefully our electric bill will come down this month.

I paid White Cap today and an Empire Cat bill that is due tomorrow. I can pay White Cap online but James had to take the Empire Cat bill to town with him to mail.

Brother Miller called and reminded us that we signed up to clean the temple on Friday night. This weekend is going to be stressful for me. I have a cake to make, a lesson to prepare, a wedding to attend and a temple to clean. Oh yes, and I need to go grocery shopping to buy the ingredients for the cake and to get some cards.

Hopefully Emmy got the gift I sent her for graduation.

A Voice of Gladness!
Elder Kevin R. Duncan
Of the Seventy
"Now, what do we hear in the gospel which we have received? A voice of gladness! A voice of mercy from heaven; and a voice of truth out of the earth; . . . a voice of gladness for the living and the dead; glad tidings of great joy."
Brothers and sisters, it is almost impossible to hear these words from the Prophet Joseph Smith and not break out into a great big smile!

I have a tight knot in my back causing me to sleep restlessly last night. It finally got so bad that I went to sleep on the recliner. Laying in one position on my back helped me to get some sleep.

I had a waffle and a glass of milk for breakfast and then took three Tramadol. I was sitting at my computer and began feeling a little woozy. I went over to the recliner to sit down. As I sat there I decided maybe I didn't eat enough when I took the Tramadol so I went in and got myself a bowl of cereal. I ate about half of it and felt like I was going to throw up so I got up and went into the bathroom.
I felt better afterwards but laid back down on the recliner.

After taking a quick nap I called James at 12:30 to remind him of his appointment for his truck at 1:30. He came home and asked if I was going. I had told him earlier about my nausea and that I just needed to rest a little more. As he left he said, "I'm going to be gone the next three days to the valley." I thought about that. I got up and seemed to feel better. My nausea was gone after my trip to the bathroom.

I began getting ready. I took a shower, got dressed, put my makeup on and did my hair. I called James and told him I felt much better and was on my way.

I picked up James at Horne Auto where he is getting the oil changed in his truck and his tires rotated for free. We were going to lunch. I wanted to go to Carl's Jr. to get a Santa Fe chicken sandwich. I told James when he ordered to ask them to cut the sandwich in half. He also ordered some chicken tenders, fried zucchini and a medium drink. Along with the sandwich our total was $25.36. James mentioned that it was more than they would have paid at LaCasita.

The Santa Fe chicken sandwich was delicious with cheese, lettuce, and a green chili and some kind of sauce. I ate half and gave the other half to James who was eating chicken tenders and zucchini. I had one chicken tender and a couple of zucchini's. We ate everything except all of the chicken tenders which we boxed up and James took with him. He was going over to Home Depot to get another brick while I got some bread here at Walmart. I got bread, whole wheat muffins, gum and a double Almond Joy candy bar, and a bag of pistachios.

Our timing was perfect. James picked me up as soon as I stepped outside. James went over to Barbara's and laid the brick or block he bought at Home Depot. He rode the Razr over and brought the Cat back so I had to take him back to get the Razr. He worked on the fence and did some work on the road, digging some drainage ditches.

We had whole wheat muffins and beets for dinner. We walked and listened to our book before going to bed. I worked on my lesson.

Jesus Christ, Testimony of
JS-H 1:26
I had now got my mind satisfied so far as the sectarian world was concerned-that it was not my duty to join with any of them, but to continue as I was until further directed. "My Mind Caught Hold Upon This Thought"
Elder Neil L. Andersen
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
In Alma's deep despair, he remembered being taught in his youth about "the coming of one Jesus Christ, a Son of God, to atone for the sins of the world. As my mind caught hold upon this thought, I cried within my heart: O Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me." As he appealed for the divine power of the Savior, something miraculous happened: "When I thought this," he said, "I could remember my pains no more." Suddenly he felt peace and light. "Nothing was so exquisite and sweet as was my joy," he declared.

I didn't get to sleep last night until almost 1:30. I think it's because I took some Tramadol a little too close to bedtime. Because I couldn't sleep I woke up late and it put me behind all day long.

James had a low tire this morning and his compressor is in the valley. He called Pierce and asked him if he was home, thinking he would use Pierce's compressor. Pierce said, "Well, sort of. We are hiking Mt. Montoso." This was about 7:30 this morning. I guess they got an early start and are practicing for hiking in Peru at the ruins.

James was a wonderful, almost perfect husband today. He helped me finish the cupcake puzzle.

Hardest puzzle I have ever done. Too much pink and white.

He fixed lunch and watched two movies with me, one this morning and one this evening. "The Engagement Plot" and "Garage Sale Mystery" were the two movies.  He may have felt like he was wasting his time but he was making me happy and I don't think he thinks that is a waste of time.

He ran an errand in town and brought me dinner, two tacos from Taco Bell. He prayed with me and studied the scriptures with me which is something we normally do but on this day because of his attention to me, our prayers and study meant more to me.

It was a great day and the weather was gorgeous!
