Jesus Christ, Testimony of
Mosiah 18:9
Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life -

Prayer, scriptures, and breakfast before I get ready for stake conference.

As we walked in to the stake center in Lakeside we saw Collin DeWitt in a white car I'd never seen before. Wendy wasn't with him.
We sat in the overflow so we could see the screen setup in the back, next to Doug and Cindy Brown from our ward.

The stake choir sang the prelude music. It was so good Elder Hyatt made a joke about telling President Nelson he found a replacement for the tabernacle choir.

I would say about half of the choir is young people. Sister Alder, President Alder's wife is the choir director. We were so far back I could only see choir members who showed up on the screen back by us, Jennifer Golly, and Tamara Applegate. I think maybe Wendy DeWitt was in the choir because she left with Collin after conference and so I assume maybe she got a ride with someone to come early.

The opening prayer was given by an Apache sister who started out speaking in Apache and ended in English.

President Smithson conducted the sustainings. Ed Miller from the Vernon ward was released from the stake high council and Travis Tesarek again, from our ward, was called. He is also the first counselor in the stake young men's presidency.

President Beeler was the first speaker in this session. Since he didn't speak last night I was happy to hear him this morning. He is one of my favorite speakers. He mentioned that General Conference opened with Elder Stevenson saying for Easter he and his family were reading 3 Nephi 11:1-17 and he encouraged everyone to do likewise.
At the end of conference President Nelson encouraged everyone to read 3 Nephi and the words of the Savior. This is hallowed ground. Exercise agency and you will receive revelation. You must have eyes to see and ears to hear.
(I saw several teenage boys with pink pants and pink ties on.
Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
President Beeler told the story of his grandfather's prize winning Belgian horses named Bill & Jim (Beljim)He shared the story later on Facebook:

Jesus can lift you above the pull of the world. He will work forever and His mercy never ends. The covenant path is the path of love.
Paige Flake, after she was released as a missionary helped a woman having car trouble and then invited her to a Relief Society activity. President Beeler said helping the woman with her car was a terrestrial activity while inviting her to attend a meeting at the church was a celestial activity.

My take away from President Beeler's talk was Keep your covenants, Receive Revelation, and Invite others.

Sister from Lakeside ward. I didn't catch her name. She was probably around 40-45. Put Heavenly Father first. She had an accident on the way to her baptism and was put in the hospital and had to set another date. The next time, the stake center flooded. Finally on September 3, 2005 she was baptized. She held the Book of Mormon in her hand during her talk and bore testimony of it. She said it was "eye opening." She said Alma 32 changed her life and quoted verse 27 - But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to belive, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.
Allow Him to heal your heart and let His grace work in your life.

Nathaniel Owen - Called to the Prove-Orem Utah Mission
I had need for divine intervention to find safety for my soul. After prayer and my patriarchal blessing I decided not to go on a mission.
The Spirit is stronger than Hercules. God speaks to and guides those who want to be better. We can't expect the fruits of Zion if we keep a summer cottage in Babylon. (NAM) Trust God, walk in faith. There is always a way back.

Skyler Rigg Return missionary from Bentonville, Arkansas. I learned so much on my mission. I am ALL IN. Know the why and let Jesus change them, that is the way we serve others. Live so the Holy Ghost can speak to us. Let go of the world so we can hold on to Eternity.

Karen Gilliland (My friend who visited me in my home when I was the counselor in RS and she was the stake counselor over me. Her husband was the president of the Phoenix temple ).
We are gathering Israel on both sides of the veil. The Savior is in charge and He only requires the heart and a willing mind. She and her husband served a mission in Ohio. They had new convert firesides once a month in their home. Sister Gilliland said a prayer that she would forget about herself and focus on others. She went up to a woman who looked lonely and became friends with her. Her name was Kathy. Through their friendship Kathy returned to the Church, and eventually, ten years later, returned to the temple. Karen is such a great example of a true friend. Invite everyone on both sides of the veil to come unto Him.

Kim Seaman Matron of the Snowflake temple. She bore her testimony and testified that Heavenly Father knows each one of us.

President Mike Seaman  President of the Snowflake temple. His kingdom will stand forever. Bore testimony.

Elder Hyatt truly brought the Spirit to our conference. He told several stories of the Holy Ghost prompting him to do certain things that were difficult and what the results were. They were always good. We are grateful for his messages and feel blessed that he came to our stake conference. Of course, President Beeler's message is always a highlight for me.

Our ward was in charge of putting chairs away after conference. James stayed to help while I went out to the truck to have a snack and read my book. I didn't wait long. We headed for home and James fixed us tamales for lunch.

I worked on my puzzle then went in to take a nap.

After my nap I worked on my blog while James did some indexing.

James called Pierce to ask him something and found out he and Susan are going to Okinawa tomorrow morning. One of their kids lives their and a grandson is having a mission farewell. When they return they will be here two or three weeks and then they will be going to Tonga for a humanitarian service mission.

The Lord Jesus Christ Teaches Us to Minister
Elder Juan A. Uceda
Of the Seventy
"With our Savior's help, we can love His precious sheep and minister to them as He would."

Up at 4. James thinks I should sleep in until 5 but in order to get in two hours of gospel study before 7 I have to get up at 4. I love the quiet. It is a time to ponder and pray.

James and I went to town this morning in the truck. Our first stop was Sonic for lunch, then on to Walmart. James dropped me off while he went to Home Depot to look for a laser. They didn't have any so he went to Circle K to wash his truck and get gas. He came back to Walmart and helped me check out then we headed to Tractor Supply where James went in and got horse feed.

We listened to our book on the way home. We stopped at Rosa's in Vernon for tamales. James took the $20 I got from Walmart to pay Rosa. When we got home he helped me put things away and we both had a tamale. They are good. It was time for James to get ready for his stake leadership meeting at 3 o'clock at the stake center.

He left in the truck, a little late, 2:30 for the stake center which is about 40 minutes away. It's time for me to have some rest and relaxation.

At 5:00 I left for the stake center for the adult session of our stake conference. James called me and asked me to bring his spray bottle he used to soothe his throat but I had already left. I told him I had cough drops. I told him to go get us something to eat, which he did.

When I got to the stake center in Lakeside I parked next to James and got in the truck with him. He handed me a soft taco which I gobbled up while James at most of the bean burro he got me. I told him to save me some and I would have it for breakfast tomorrow.

At 5:55 we walked into the stake center sitting back in the overflow behind the Vernon row, saying high to Cheryl Sedig, and the Halcomb's who were on the back row in the chapel.

The visiting authority is Elder Brock Hyatt of the Seventy. The meeting tonight went something like this:

Special Musical Number:
Young People, President Alder's daughter and a young man. Another young man playing the violin. "Shalom" It was beautiful.

Brother Riley from the Fort Apache Branch:
Baptized in 2017. He said he has been a follower of Christ all of his life. When he was a non-member in the hospital the elders gave him a blessing. He said he felt the Holy Ghost from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. He came to a point where he knew "it was time" to be baptized. Being a member is wonderful. Without Heavenly Father I don't think I would be alive today. I love my beautiful wife. She has helped me so much.

Lannie Gillespie  Primary President in the Vernon Ward -  Increase faith of the rising generation. 1) Look for spiritual experiences in our lives, 2) Acknowledge faith, now matter how small 3) What can the Savior do with a small amount of faith. He takes what we have and adds to it. (Feeding the 5,000) Alma 32:23
Never underestimate the faith of little children.

President Alder  Family plays Alexa Jeopardy.
Revelation 1:8 - I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Christ is the answer to every problem. Peter walking on the water. Do we turn to Christ when we have problems?
Matt 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Christ can cleanse, heal, restore, identify, strengthen and transform us.

Sis Smith from the Scottsdale Mission  I love learning about Jesus.
Matt 22:36 - 40
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
We have opportunities to love as Jesus loved every day. Love - Share - Invite. Our ancestors pray for their posterity to join the Church so they can do their temple work.

President Smith of the Scottsdale Mission Thank you for caring for our missionaries. Through Jesus Christ we are saved from sin and death. We need to share this with others.

Elder Brock Hyatt   You can trust the priesthood keys that President Beeler holds. He receives revelation for this stake.
The answer is always Jesus. Testify of the Savior. Elder Hyatt and his wife fasted and prayed for someone to share the gospel with. He asked Brother Riley to come up and share how his life has changed since joining the Church. He then asked Brother Riley what goals he has for the future regarding the Church. Brother Riley said he wants to get his patriarchal blessing and then wants to go to the temple.
Elder Hyatt then calls Sister Riley up from the audience. She is an Apache woman and is very articulate in English. She shared her conversion story as well as her husbands. She says she has been waiting for years for him to come to the temple with her. I told James I enjoyed her comments as much as anyone else's so far in the meeting.  As soon as I said that Elder Hyatt said, "You've all just heard the sermon for the evening." Obviously I agreed.
Elder Hyatt finishes his talk with comments about 3 Nephi 17:7, 9
Every one, not everyone. One by one. That's the way the Lord works.
Listen to the Holy Ghost and receive revelation.

Have I Truly Been Forgiven?
Elder K. Brett Nattress
Of the Seventy
"The promise of complete and perfect forgiveness is made to everyone - in and through the infinite Atonement of Jesus Christ."

I woke up early enough today to read my patriarchal blessing before my prayers. It is always good to review those blessings given to me so long ago while I was in college and before I got married.

I listened to Elder Nattress' conference talk this morning and I do believe it is my favorite. The name of the talk is "Have I Truly Been Forgiven."? You will have to read it or listen to it to see why I love it so much.

James worked all day getting records ready for Frank, Jerrod Bowen's attorney and part owner in Jerrod's tenant improvement business. It seems like James went up the stairs 50 times or more. I did help him by typing one paper. Whoopee.

Today I worked on my blog, got my steps, prayed, studied the gospel, and made cabbage soup, which we both love. I did nothing on my list of long-term goals such as working on our will, cleaning my closet, doing family history, etc. I just don't seem to have the motivation or energy. I am a little discouraged that I don't get more done. I do pray everyday that I will do the important things and be receptive to the voice of the Spirit.

I listened to my book, "The Ruby" and James and I listened to "Scotland's Melody." James is also reading the book Kerri Halcomb loaned us.

A line from my patriarchal blessing that I like to focus on:
You will be a Savior on Mount Zion to your family, both the living and the dead.

I got up at 4 a.m. to have my quiet time and say my prayers. James got up at the same time which he rarely does. He didn't disturb my quiet time because he went into the other room.

I am still studying the Mt. of Transfiguration to find out who was there. I found this in the BYU Religion 211-12 student manual:

Thank goodness for Elder McConkie! Now I know what happened on the Mount of Transfiguration. Kim led me in this direction. She really does a lot of studying for her Gospel Doctrine lesson.

I listened to about half of Inklings today. It wasn't Emily as she is in Israel with David Butler. It was Rio and someone else. The talks were President Nelson's closing address, "The Answer is Always Jesus", and President Oaks' talk, "The Teachings of Jesus Christ."

James went to Barbara Bartels to work and he mailed Alex's birthday card and picked up the mail. I got this in the mail today:

The purple one is new

I paid bills today both personal and business. James was supposed to pour concrete at Glendale airport tomorrow but he had to cancel because Armando failed an inspection. He couldn't order again from Rock Solid because he has cancelled so many times so he ordered from Desert Ready Mix and scheduled for this coming Tuesday.

I started a bird puzzle I bought for Ruby today. It is only 500 pieces which is about all I can handle right now. I also started a new book called "The Ruby." The main character in the book is Charlie Mae.
I am also reading "Your Endowment" by Mark A. Shields. James and I finished reading "The Reluctant Baronet". We both really liked it.

Stacy called again today to talk about her business. She will be having surgery on her foot on May 11th, right before Mother's Day.

This reminds me of the cupcakes my
