"Not As The World Giveth"
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
So, in a world "tossed with tempest, and not comforted," as Jehovah said it would be, how do we find what He called "the covenant of ... peace"? We find it by turning to Him who said He would have mercy on us and "with everlasting kindness" would grant peace to our children. In spite of frightful prophecies and unsettling scriptures declaring that peace will be taken from the earth generally, the prophets, including our own beloved Russell M. Nelson, have taught that it does not have to be taken from us individually! So, let's try to practice peace inl a personal way, applying the grace and healing balm of the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ to ourselves and our families and all those we can reach around us. Fortunately, even astonishingly, this soothing salve is made available to us "without money and without price."

Restoration Proclamation
#3
In humility, we declare that in answer to his prayer, God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph and inaugurated the "restitution of all things" (Acts 3:21) as foretold in the Bible. In this vision, he learned that following the death of the original Apostles, Christ's New Testament ?church was lost from the earth. Joseph would be instrumental in its return.

Inklings
"I speak of hope in Christ not as wishful thinking. Instead, I speak of hope as an expectation that will be realized. Such hope is essential to overcoming adversity, fostering spiritual resilience and strength, and coming to know that we are loved by our Eternal Father and that we are His children, who belong to HIs family."
- President M. Russell Ballard

I listened to Act in Doctrine this morning. Here are some things that I learned:

I found this quote in the Redheaded Hostess notes:
"Teach your students to see with the eyes they possessed before they had a mortal body; teach them to hear with ears they possessed before they were born; teach them to push back the curtains of mortality and see into the eternities." - Boyd K. Packer

I ordered another mattress cover for our bed. I also ordered a box of Built bars and some notebooks. I listened to Sheri Dew give a fireside for the Sunland England stake. I started a new audio book by Sarah Eden called "A Glimmer of Hope."

James is still working on the front planter. He is filling in the dirt. I finished polishing the wood floor in the family-living room. I also did the kitchen, dining room, hallway and entry floor. I read to James from "Love on Pointe."

James fixed the oven today quite by accident. He had already installed the new igniter but it hadn't worked. He pushed a reset button and walla! The oven works!

One last quote this one about the Sons of Perdition:
"The sin against the Holy Ghost requires such knowledge that it is manifestly impossible for the rank and file to commit such a sin." (Spencer W. Kimball, "The Miracle of Forgiveness" pg. 123).

Alma 28:9-29:7 According to Alma what is the remedy to eliminate sorrow? (29:2) A-Everyone should repent and come unto God. That's why missionary work is so important.

"I Love To See the Temple"
President Henry B. Eyring
Second Counselor in the First Presidency
President Russell M. Nelson made clear for us that we can "see" the Savior in the temple in the sense that He becomes no longer unknown to us. President Nelson said this: "We understand Him. We comprehend His work and His glory. And we begin to feel the infinite impact of His matchless life."
If you or I should go to the temple insufficiently pure, we would not be able to see, by the power of the Holy Ghost, the spiritual teaching about the Savior that we can receive in the temple.
When we are worthy to receive such teaching, there can grow through our temple experience hope, joy, and optimism throughout our lives. That hope, joy, and optimism are available only through accepting the ordinances performed in holy temples.

Restoration Proclamation
#2
Two hundred years ago, on a beautiful spring morning in 1820, young Joseph Smith, seeking to know which church to join, went into the woods to pray near his home in upstate New York, USA. He had questions regarding the salvation of his soul and trusted that God would direct him.

Inklings
"The personal growth one can achieve now while waiting upon the Lord and His promises is an invaluable, sacred element of His plan for each one of us."

Sheri cooked lots of yummy things while she was here and she did it all in our tiny oven. Also, I forgot to mention something that Lola did before the Trezise's got here on Friday night. She did this to Ian's and Sheri's bed. She wrote a note saying that she had put $5 under their pillows. When they lifted up their pillows there was a play $5 bill with a Post it that said, "Psych." She thought she was so funny, and so did they.

Today I listened to "Follow Him". The special guest was Steven C. Harper who wrote the book, "Making Sense of the Doctrine and Covenants." I liked how he closed with his testimony and feelings about Joseph Smith. He said: "I love Joseph Smith because he opened the door to Jesus Christ. The Savior is my study and I get to Him through the texts He gave to Joseph Smith." Brother Harper also used the term, "Relentless Repentance" and said, "Pondering is, in my feeling, a form of prayer."

Here are some other notes I took while studying this morning. "Meditation is one of the most secret, most sacred doors thought which we pass to gain entrance to the Lord." -David O. McKay

I also listened to "Don't Miss This" with Emily and Dave, and "Book of Mormon Central" with Tyler and Taylor and Casey. This is from BMC:
Celestial Kingdom - Those who are fully committed to Jesus Christ
Terrestrial Kingdom - Sins of Omission
Telestial Kingdom - Thou shalt not...

I ordered a plaque removed called Sonic Smile and some more Thrive mascara and eyebrow liner this morning.

The Trezise's and Rowan left for home this morning around 10:30 after Sheri ran and we had two breakfasts, venison steak and gravy with biscuits, and pancakes, bacon, and sausage. Sheri, Ian, and Ben also played Yahtzee, a family favorite. I told them that was my Mom's favorite game.

Thanks for coming!
Let us know when you get home.

James is having his biopsy a week from today so beginning today he can't have aspirin or vitamins and a few other things I don't remember. He works in the planter this morning. He finally found the waterline and fixed it and now he has to fill everything back in.

James got his check from Lake Park Village, $29,400. James went into town to deposit it and to pick up two of my prescriptions, Tramadol and Hydrochlorothiazide. Before he went he heated up some butterfly shrimp for lunch. I also had a biscuit.

This evening we watched the Suns-Bucks game. This is game 1 of the finals and Chris Paul was on fire in the second half. The Suns won 118-105.

Happy Birthday Cid!

"Room in the Inn"
Elder Gerrit W. Gong
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
As our hearts change and we receive His image in our countenance, we see Him and ourselves in His Church. In Him, we find clarity, not dissonance. In Him, we find cause to do good, reason to be good, and increasing capacity to become better. In Him, we discover abiding faith, liberating selflessness, caring change, and trust in God. In His Inn, we find and deepen our personal relationship with God, our Father, and Jesus Christ.

Restoration Proclamation
#1
We solemnly proclaim that God loves His children in every nation of the world. God the Father has given us the divine birth, the incomparable life, and the infinite atoning sacrifice of His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. By the power of the Father, Jesus rose again and gained the victory over death. He is our Savior, our Exemplar, and our Redeemer.

Inklings
"Hope in Christ"
I hope in Christ with expectation because I know His promises are sure. Even in the waiting, I life my gaze and extend my reach towards others while we work and wait together.

Sheri asked me if I had any pancake mix. I told her I had Kodiak cake mix and Ben was excited. I also gave her some Hungry Jack and some Bisquick. She said that pancakes is Max's favorite breakfast. She also made bacon and sausage. James had brought me oatmeal and watermelon earlier so I wasn't hungry.

After breakfast we played a game of Five Crowns. When I say we I mean Sheri, Ben, Max, and I. We played last night and Ben won. Today when we played, I won. When Sheri asked Ben if he wanted to play Five Crowns later in the day, he said no.

James's phone has not been working so he went to Verizon in town to fix it. They said that something was wrong with the touch pad senser and they couldn't fix it. They told him of a wireless place that would fix it, but it was closed, so he came home.

On Sunday Sister Brown told me she could not teach this Sunday because she would be out of town. I told Tamara I would teach but she wanted me to try to get someone to teach. Today I texted Sister DeWitt and asked if she would be able to teach and she said she would be glad too. I was so grateful.

The boys went on more Razr rides today but we told them to please leave the snakes alone. We have gotten some rain and hopefully they will open the forests up again.

This evening we read the first 40 verses of D&C 76 for "Come Follow Me." We had some discussion and Ian disagreed with James on something. James handled it well and bore his testimony.

James built a fire in the firepit and the kids roasted marshmallows.
