Gratitude
Gratitude is the beginning of civility, of decency and goodness, of a recognition that we cannot afford to be arrogant. We should walk with the knowledge that we will need help every step of the way.

Inklings
"We are all infants compared to the beings of glory and grandeur we are designed to become. No mortal being advances from crawling to walking to running without frequent stumbles, bumps, and bruises. That is how we learn."
- Dieter F. Uchtdorf

James left for the valley around 5:30. He brought me my breakfast before he left. Rowan drove to Chocolate Lake by himself this morning.

On our way to the Grapp's I dropped a birthday card off to Rosa because I knew today was her birthday and I was afraid the RS would be late with her card. Come to find out Paula had already sent her a card so she got to cards from the RS presidency. Oops.

It was overcast when we got to the Grapp's. Benson was waiting for us at the gate. The first place the Benson and Emsley take Ruby and Lola is to the rabbit pen. Liana and Tildy are brushing their horses, getting them ready for Ruby and Lola to ride. Cammy, Thomas, Malea, Leland and I sit on a bench to watch the show. Cammy has cinnamon rolls in the oven so when her timer goes off she runs inside to take them out. The cinnamon rolls are for us to take home. She also made us a loaf of bread.

We get a few sprinkles but not enough to make us go inside. Here are some pictures of Ruby riding Liana's Welch pony, Rocky, and Lola riding Tildy's horse, Raisin.

This picture was for Rowan because he
didn't come and he loves huskies.

After riding horses the girls played on the two trampolines with the Grapp kids. Lola and Emsley were on one, and Benson, Liana, Tildy and Ruby are on the other. All of the kids like Ruby and Emsley loves Lola. The girls had a great time and on the way home Ruby says to me: "Thank you so much gramma for taking us to the Grapp's."

James was home when we got back a little after 3. He brought each of the kids a bean burro from Burger House and he brought me a mixed green burro. We were all happy.

James took the kids on a Razr ride. When they returned I asked Lola if they saw any animals. She said, "all we saw was a dead coyote."

After dinner, Lola, Rowan, Ruby and I had some ice cream. The girls are excited that Sheri and her family are coming this evening. The girls went out on the porch and waited for awhile but finally came back in. The Trezise's didn't get here until after 9. They brought Ziggie and Ollie with them. Ollie climbed the stairs for the first time. Lola was so excited to see Sheri she just followed her around talking to her. We went to bed, some of us anyway, around ten. I think Evan and Rowan stayed up much later, but the girls and I and Sheri went to bed at ten, along with James.

I understand better now what He meant when He said, "Behold, I will hasten my work in its time." Over and over again I have rejoiced as He has directed and executed the hastening of His work - even during a global pandemic.

"God Among Us"
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
When we feel insignificant, cast off, and forgotten, we learn that we may be assured that God has not forgotten us - in fact, that He offers to all His children something unimaginable: to become "heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ." What does this mean?
That we will live forever, receive a fulness of joy, and have the potential to "inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers."
It is so humbling to know that this magnificent and supernal future is possible - not because of who we are but because of who God is.
Knowing this, how could we ever murmur or remain embittered? How could we ever keep our eyes on the ground when the King of kings invites us to take flight into an unimaginable future of divine happiness?

Thrift and Industry
I commend to all the virtues of industry and thrift, which I believe go hand in hand. The labor and thrift of the people make a nation, a community, or a family strong. Work and thrift make the family independent.

God Among Us
There are going to be wanderer's and that's why there are gatherer's.

I left this morning before 8 a.m. for Walmart. I wanted to do my shopping early. I got home before 10:30 and put all of the groceries away. Lola and Ruby were so happy that I got apples and carrots for Luna. They went out to feed her right away.

I began to clean to get ready for our Tea Party with the Grapp's at 3 p.m. Ruby and Lola helped. Ruby made teapot name placecards for everyone.

Best helper ever!

Lola was a good helper too. She asked me if I had a clipboard and a piece of paper for her to write on. She wrote down everyone's name so Ruby wouldn't forget anyone. Why didn't I take a picture? I guess I was too busy cleaning.

When we were finished cleaning Ruby and Lola helped me bake some strawberry "baby cakes." (mini-cupcakes). They also put up the signs they made. Ruby frosts the baby cakes and then she cuts up strawberries. The entire Grapp family arrive at 3p.m as scheduled. We forgot to make a placecard for Brother Grapp so Ruby hurries and makes one.

I had everyone sit down and introduce themselves and tell one thing that they like. I tell them why a tea party is called a tea party, because of the English. Liana says a blessing on the food. Everyone gets up and goes through the tea party buffet line. I noticed that Benson waited until everyone else went through the line before he got a plate and his food. I was impressed. He has been taught well.

Here is a list of the foods we served: Sausage links cut in bite-sized pieces, black olives, cheese, crackers, carrots, pink baby cakes, pink donuts, powdered donuts, mini-muffins, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, peanut and plain M&M's, peanut butter and honey sandwiches, cheese sandwiches all cut in fourths, and two drinks.
Malea loved the plain M&M's.

Emsley was so happy to get to know Lola. She really doesn't have a lot of friends. I heard her telling Lola about her "filly". I told her that Lola probably didn't know what a filly was. Emsley told her it was a baby girl horse. The kids played upstairs and had a contest to see who could catch the most bouncy balls. They finally went outside to see Luna and to play hide and seek. They found a dead coyote and heard some coyotes on the hill. The Grapp's were here for about two hours and when they got ready to leave I noticed that Benson's hair was still in place and looked exactly the same as when he came. I asked him about it. He said it's because he uses Gorilla Snot. Cammy said it's the best product. I guess I'm going to have to get some for James.

James helped the kids ride Luna while I fixed dinner. We had spaghetti and green beans for dinner. All of the kids like spaghetti.

James got ready to go to the valley tomorrow. He hooked up the trailer to his truck. He's going down to pick up his Cat.

After we had family prayer the girls and I watched the last part of Boss Baby and part of Despicable Me 3 before going to bed. We will have to finish the movie tomorrow.

Happy 18th Birthday Max!

Jesus Christ, Prophecies about
Daniel 9:26
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Book of Mormon
Alma 24:19-30 What happens to those who turn away from a great knowledge of things pertaining to righteousness? *When your heart becomes hardened to the truth, everything about you changes. Your countenance, attitude and even your personality. We can be found responsible for driving others from the truth. Little by little they become instruments of the devil. . . .

Learning, understanding, and living gospel principles strengthen our faith in the Savior, deepen our devotion to Him, and invite a multitude of blessings and spiritual gifts into our lives. Principles of righteousness also help us to look beyond our personal preferences and self-centered desires by providing the precious perspective of eternal truth as we navigate the different circumstances, challenges, decisions, and experiences of mortality.

Forgiveness and Mercy
The willingness to forgive is a sign of spiritual and emotional maturity. Imagine a world filled with individuals willing both to apologize and to accept an apology. Is there any problem that could not be solved among people who possessed the humility and largeness of spirit and soul to do either - or both - when needed?

Inklings
John 6
Jesus feeds the five thousand - He walks on the sea - He is the living manna sent from God - Salvation is gained by eating living bread - Jesus explains how men eat His flesh and drink His blood - Peter testifies that Jesus is the Messiah.

Happy Anniversary to Stacy & Paul
32 years and 5 boys

The girls and I worked on puzzles this morning and while we were working I explained the Plan of Salvation to them. I told them about Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden and how Satan tempted them to partake of the forbidden fruit. When they partook they were cast out of the Garden of Eve and could no longer be in the presence of God. They had fig leaves for clothes and then skins of animals when they were cast out. I told them that because they had fallen from the presence of God they could not return to be in His presence without a Savior. Heavenly Father sent Jesus to be our Savior. If we repent and if we are baptized and receive the Holy Ghost we can get on the Covenant Path and follow Jesus. Later I asked Lola when we got together to have family prayer what she remembered about the story of Adam and Eve. She said Satan talked to them and they ate the bad fruit so they go kicked out of the garden. Love this girl!

Ruby, Lola, Rowan and I drove over to the Halcomb's this morning to pick up the sisters birthday cards for July. Rowan drove on the way back. This was his first time driving the Razr.

We had macaroni and cheese for lunch. Rowan also made a ham and cheese sandwich. He and Ruby went for a walk after lunch down to the tree where Ian built the bench. I told them about Aaron's kids climbing that tree. I told Ruby to be careful and watch where she walks because of snakes. That's actually when Rowan decides to go. He turns over an old board and finds a small rattle snake. He took a video of himself playing with the snake and sent it to Trina. She said she almost had a heart attack. He killed the snake afterwards and then felt bad that he did it.

The girls and I watch the movie "Away and Back", one of my favorites about migrating trumpeter swans in Washington state. Now Ruby and Lola love it too. After the movie we went to Dollar General. We decided we are going to have a tea party tomorrow for the Grapp's. We invited them and they are excited to come. Rowan went with us and picked out his favorite cereal, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It was a fun trip and Lola got some costume jewelry for her birthday. I gave Ruby and Lola each a set of Doodle Dazzle markers. They write glittery silver and are outlined in another color. The girls made signs for the tea party. We are having it tomorrow at 3 p.m.

For dinner I made biscuits and bacon, and Kodiak waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. The kids loved it. After dinner we turned on the Suns game for Rowan and I to watch. While watching I played Clue with Lola, Ruby, and James. I thought I had won and went to the center of the board to make an accusation but I was wrong because the knife card was missing and so was the rope and a room card. We found all of the missing cards except the knife so I made a knife card. We had no winner. On the other hand we did have a winner of the Suns-Clippers game. The Suns won 133-103 and are the Western Conference Champs. Chris Paul had 41 points. He got shoved by Patrick Beverly and Beverly was ejected from the game.

Chris Paul and Devin Booker
