'The Exquisite Gift Of The Son'
Elder Matthew S. Holland
Of the Seventy
When asked: "What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?" John received the answer: "These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."
Brothers and sisters, suffering in righteousness helps qualify you for, rather than distinguishes you from, God's elect. And it makes their promises your promises. As John, you "shall hunger no more, neither shall the sun light on you, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed you, and shall lead you unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from your eyes."
"And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain."
'The Culture Of Christ'
Elder William K. Jackson
In the culture of Christ, there is perspective - and eternal focus and direction. This culture is concerned with things of lasting worth! It comes from the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is eternal and explains the why, what, and where of our existence. Because this culture results from the application of our Savior's teachings, it helps provide a healing balm of which our world is in such desperate need.
What a blessin it is to be part of this grand and noble way of life! To be part of this, the greatest of all cultures, will require change. The prophets have taught that it is necessary to leave behind anything in our old cultures that is inconsistent with the culture of Christ. But that doesn't mean we have to leave behind everything. The prophets have also emphasized that we are invited, one and all, to bring our faith and talents and knowledge-all that is good in our lives and our individual cultures-with us and let the Church "add to it" through the message of the gospel.

The earth will never again be the same, as God will "gather together in one all things in Christ" (Ephesians 1:10).

We testify that He will someday return to earth.
Today was a busy day for me. I started out by indexing 200 names then worked on my blog for awhile until it was time to get ready to pick up Catherine for lunch. Today is Catherine's 87th birthday.
James's Covid results came back around 10 a.m. this morning. Negative. I told Catherine if it was positive I wouldn't be picking her up. She agreed. James still believes he has a bladder infection and tried to get an appointment with Dr. Moffat but couldn't get in until Tuesday. He didn't want to wait that long to get on an antibiotic so he called Pierce. Trina and Stacy were both upset that he got an antibiotic from a dentist without seeing a doctor. Anyway a big controversy ensued and Stacy even said he probably got the infection from me and I should go see a gynecologist. I have no symptoms whatsoever. Something about older women who are not on estrogen passing an infection to their partner. I thanked her for her concern but choose to ignore it.
I picked up Catherine a little before 11 and we drove to Show Low without having to stop for the roadwork. Catherine had made sure I knew on Sunday that she wanted to go to Sonic for her birthday lunch. As we approached Sonic I asked her if she was sure. I mentions Licano's and she said, "Oh you would have to mention Mexican food. Let's go to Licano's."
We both ordered a chicken enchilada with rice and beans. I ordered mine with red sauce and Catherine ordered hers with green. We enjoyed our food and I mentioned to our waitress that it was Catherine's birthday. She said she wouldn't sing to us but she brought us some fried ice cream. Our fried ice cream was so frozen we couldn't cut into it. We both used our knives and tried cutting into it. It was like a block of ice. After it melted a little it became easier. When we told our waitress our problem she apologized and said they had been putting the ice cream in a colder deep freeze thinking it would thaw out when it was fried. Obviously it did not.
James asked me to stop at CVS and pick up his prescription. He called them and they said it was ready. When I got to the drive-thru the tube was broken so I had to go inside. I went up to the counter and they told me it would be 10 minutes before it was ready. Here we go again CVS, this is why I don't like you. When I got back in line 10 minutes later there were 10 people a head of me. This took longer than I wanted with Catherine waiting for me out in the car. I got the prescription and it only cost $5.00 so I guess I should be happy.
Catherine and I have a special friendship and I enjoy her company so much. She is a little hard of hearing so I have to make sure I speak loud. She is excited about going to the valley tomorrow to see her great granddaughter be baptized on Saturday.
James was doing indexing when I got home between 1:30 and 2. I have an appointment with Pierce to get my teeth filled at 3 so I wanted to take a nap. I changed in to my comfy clothes and laid down on the recliner. I set my timer for 45 minutes which seemed way too short.
When I got to Pierce's dental office he was there waiting for me. I asked for a drink of water and while he was out getting it I took a picture of this plaque:
Pierce an amazing dentist but he is one of the most kind
and generous people I have ever met. He's never too busy to
help someone!
It was almost five when I got home. Pierce filled six out of 10 cavities which means I will be back again next week. The biggest miracle he performed was fixing my chipped tooth in the front of my mouth. You can't even tell it was chipped and filling in a tooth in the back with a huge hole. It looks like a brand new tooth!
This evening after getting my 10,000 steps James and I watched a couple of episodes of "Anne with an E." In these episodes Diane, Cole, and Anne attend at party at Aunt Josephine's mansion where they meet all kinds of interesting people. Diane is shocked to realize the relationship of her Aunt Josephine and her friend Gertrude who recently passed away. Cole is inspired to begin using clay as an art medium. Anne is delighted with expanding her horizons. Marilla makes a trip to see an oculist and gets glasses. Sebastian meets Mary and Gilbert arranges to become an apprentice to a well-known doctor. Things are changing in Avonlea and everyone is growing up.
