Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son
Alma 12:33

'Hearts Knit In Righteousness And Unity'
Elder Quentin L. Cook
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
We honor our pioneer members across the world not because they were perfect but because they overcame hardships, made sacrifices, aspired to be Christlike, and were striving to build faith and be one with the Savior. Their oneness with the Savior made them one with each other. This principle is true for you and me today.
The clarion call to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is to strive to be a Zion people who are of one heart and one mind and dwell in righteousness.

He also ministered among His "other sheep" (John 10:16) in ancient America.

I had an appointment with Pierce to look at my teeth this morning. I have a broken tooth in the back and a chipped tooth in the front. James decided he wanted to go with me. I think he just likes to talk to Pierce and also wanted to look at the greenhouse. I did not wear a sweater because I knew I would be inside. When I stepped outside of the car Barbara was there to greet me and Pierce was on the Cat. It was windy and very cold. James asked if we could go into the greenhouse, which we did. A blast of warm air hit us as we entered. Pipes coming from underground are pumping this air. This greenhouse is going to have plants and trees growing inside. What a legacy Barbara and Pierce are leaving for their family.

Eventually Pierce checked my teeth. He always tries to inject a little humor into his treatment. He said to me: "Do you want the good news?" I said yes. "You only have 9 cavities!" What?? I've never had that many cavities! Pierce said that it is because of my dry mouth which wrecks havoc on teeth. He said he had a bit of an emergency this morning. The water line he put in to connect Vicky's home is not up to code, so he has to dig it up and start over. We re-scheduled for next Thursday, March 11th at 3 p.m.

Before going home James and I took Tanner's birthday card to the Vernon post office. We then went home and had some lunch and then a nap.

Kim texted me this afternoon and said they would not be coming today. She woke up dizzy and when she went to her dentist appointment and had to lie back, it got worse. She asked if they could come next week. I said, of course she could.

Sad news for Anthony who is only trying to get a check that Tom left for him. Deana says he has to have an invoice and she told him he was being paid too much. I wonder how she knows as she was not here when Anthony did the work. Because she felt like Anthony was harassing her, she place a restraining order against him. He doesn't know what to do as he owes the money from Tom to Jerry Scott.

James feels a responsibility for Anthony because he is his ministering brother so he called Cassie. Cassie had said she would mail the check that she found to Anthony. Instead of answering James's call Cassie called Deana and told her that James had called asking about the check so Deana called James this evening while we were watching our episode of "Anne with an E."

James explained that he just wanted to know if Cassie had mailed Anthony's check like she said she would. Deana said, "no she did not because I got involved." She went on to say how much Anthony had been harassing her and that he was an evil man. James tried to counter with he was a good guy. Deana said, "you just don't know." I'm sorry, but I think James knows Anthony better than she does because she has been living in the valley the last year or so. I told James I thought he should just not get involved, but Anthony keeps calling him and asking him for help. I don't think this is going to end well because Deana is determined that Anthony is a bad guy who has been taking advantage of her parents.

LeeAnn and Cody S., a young couple in our ward who has signed up to do indexing, came over for some instructions this evening. James provided most of the instruction and we had a nice visit. LeeAnn was one of the young women when I was the Mia Maid advisor and when I was in the presidency. She said she had many fond memories of coming to our house for YW activities and specifically mentions the time we made cake pops. Cody is a convert but is very interested in family history work. They are such a nice couple and we are happy that they are excited to start indexing.

Stacy shared with me that she, Paul, and Joshua are going to Disney World in April because airline flights and motel rooms are so cheap. tickets to Disney World are another story, but she has already booked the flights and rooms. I hope they have a good time.

Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son

'Eyes To See'
Michelle D. Craig
First Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency
I witness that Jesus Christ loves us and can give us eyes to see - even when it's hard, even when we're tired, even when we're lonely, and even when the outcomes are not as we hoped. Through His grace, He will bless us and increase our capacity. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, Christ will enable us to see ourselves and see others as He does. With His help, we can discern what is most needful. We can begin to see the hand of the Lord working in and through the ordinary details of our lives - we will see deeply.
And then, in that great day "when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope" is my prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Restoration Proclamation
P5 S4
As a companion scripture to the Bible, the Book of Mormon testifies that all human beings are sons and daughters of a loving Father in Heaven, that He has a divine plan for our lives, and that His Son, Jesus Christ, speaks today as well as in days of old.

The Living Christ

As Risen Lord, He visited among those He had loved in life.

Sheri went to Mason Konkle's dentist office and picked up James's check this morning and then went and deposited it in his account. Thank you Sheri!

We had a couple of cow elk walk across our field this morning. James thought they were looking for water, but they never stopped.
Just passing through.

I worked on my shopping list and menu plans this morning. We left for town at 9:00 because I have an appointment at Barnet-Delaney-Perkins at 9:50. It's a good thing we left a little early for two reasons.  First, I am totally out of gas and we had to stop and get gas. Also, there is that darn road work which slows you down anywhere from 10-20 minutes. We made it around 9:48. I went right up and checked in and they called me back in about 10 minutes. This assistant optometrist did some tests and ask me to read lines of letters, then Dr. Palmer came in and checked my eyes and said everything looked good. Next I had to go in and talk to Hope Harris in the surgery appointments department and sign a bunch of papers in order for them to do surgery on my right eye. When Hope found out I lived in Vernon she said she had a nephew who lives there. I asked what his name was and she said, "Cody Snyder." Cody Snyder is a new convert in our ward and is married to one of my former young women and our bishop's daughter, LeeAnn Hunsaker. It's a small world especially here in Show Low, Arizona.

James and I were both hungry for ribs but it wasn't 11:00 yet when we went past Grump Jake's. We couldn't think of anywhere else up here that would serve ribs. On the way home we passed a new Dickey's that just opened. We know they serve ribs and are excited to go there the next time we are hungry for BBQ. This time we went to Darbi's in Pinetop. They were still serving their breakfast menu when we got there but we found out later we could have ordered off the lunch/dinner menu. I had something called the Tombstone and James had the Stevie. Mine was steak, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and potatoes with pepperjack cheese on top. James had ham and cheddar cheese with potatoes, onions, etc. They were both quite delicious but we decided mine was the best. Steak vs. ham, duh!

I ate half of mine and took the rest home.
James didn't eat all of his either.

Walmart does not have my Tramadol ready. They said it is backordered. I will have to come back for it later in the week. James helped me shop by buying all of the produce. He also checked out and I bagged the groceries. I bought a birthday card and got some cash out for Tanner's birthday on the 10th.

I bought a piece of strawberry cake from the bakery because it looked good and I wanted to see if it was as good as the mix. It was better. Why would I by myself a piece of cake though?

We listened to "Candy Cane Caper" on the way home. When we got home and got the groceries put away it was rest time.

I indexed over 400 names today making my total for the last two days 1,039. I decided that I can't do this everyday though. I changed my monthly goal from 15,000 to 5,000.

Karen Schneider texted me today to see how I was doing. As I was answering her I realized I missed her birthday on February 24th. I apologized and we decided we would go to lunch on my birthday and by each other gifts then too.

I talked to my cousin Rita today. I couldn't remember what day Aunt Gene's birthday was. I thought it was the 26th and she says it's the 28th. Rita is in Texas right now visiting with a new grandbaby.

Meet Jolt William ... the middle name is
after his grandpa, Bill Solomon.

James talked to the Howard's daughter Deana today about trading work on a gate for their property for one of the horses. She said yes, they needed the gate, but not to the horse. The horses are down on Nate's ranch and he is breaking them. I was afraid this would happen after Tom was gone. James is a little sad. I said maybe we could board horses so Luna wouldn't be so lonely and he thought that was a great idea.

Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son
Jacob 4:11
Wherefore, beloved brethren, be reconciled unto him through the atonement of Christ, his Only Begotten Son, and ye may obtain a resurrection, according to the power of the resurrection which is in Christ, and be presented as the first-fruits of Christ unto God, having faith, and obtained a good hope of glory in him before he manifesteth himself in the flesh.

'Becoming Like Him'
Elder Scott D. Whiting
You are good enough, you are loved, but that does not mean that you are yet complete. There is work to be done in this life and the next. Only with His divine help can we all progress toward becoming like Him.
In these times, when "all things appear to be in commotion; and . . . fear is seemingly upon all people," the only antidote, the only remedy, is to strive to be like the Savior, the Redeemer of all mankind, the Light of the World, and to seek after He who declared, "I am the way."

He rose from the grave to "become the firstfruits of them that slept" (1 Corinthains 15:20).

I started out indexing this morning. Did you know that Henry Homann is a lard cook for Lewis Hentrich. I hope Lewis didn't get a heart attack from Henry's cooking. j/k  Here are some other facts from the directory I am indexing: "Home for the Care of Inebriates" with Gray Jewell as attending physician. "Home of Friendless Children" (How sad!) Martha Griswold manager. Home of Ladies Protection and Relief Society. Also someone had the last name of Shreck.

I decided before I took Sandra Wilhelm her birthday present I would make a quick trip to Dollar General for some candy. I remembered that she loves mini Cadbury eggs. What a nightmare. I  forgot they were doing roadwork and the traffic is backed up. After finally getting through and arriving at Dollar General I found the candy I wanted, checked out and was on my way. I decided to try to find the shortcut through the crossroads instead of going back to the 60. I drove up the 61 towards St. Johns for about five minutes or so but could not find the right road. I couldn't remember the road number so I turned around and went back down to the Y where I had to wait 10 minutes or so for the pilot car to come. I called Sandra and told her I would not make it there by 2:30 when she had to leave. She told me I could leave the gifts, hers and Trendas's, right inside the door. She called me back a few minutes later and said she had a change of plans and would be home until 3:30. I told her I thought I could make that time.

Sandra and I had a nice visit and she told me about their goats, the building of their new home, the business John has started to raise money for his kids missions  called "Mission Mantles." He does woodworking and the first project he did was a mantle for someone and it helped to pay for Talon's mission. All of the kids were in school except for George and Lanell. George is 4 and Lanell is 2.

Sandra is going to visit Trenda in Flagstaff on Wednesday and she will take her gift to her then. We said goodbye and she asked again if I could help her with indexing and asked if she could come over next Tuesday and I said that would be great.

Today was an absolutely beautiful day with the high around 55 and no wind.  I have been neglecting my blog, and cleaning the house, and I can't seem to find the motivation to stay on a diet. Not too happy with myself right now.

There is something for us to look forward to though. We are going to Texas for Easter and General Conference. We are trying to decide whether we should drive or fly. Airline tickets are pretty cheap right now.

I indexed 609 names today.

As we gather to hear the words the Lord has inspired His servants to deliver, I invite you to ponder a promise the Lord made. He declared that "whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning . . . and the wiles of the devil, and lead the disciple of Christ in a strait and narrow course."

'We Will Prove Them Herewith'
Elder David A. Bednar
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The process of proving ourselves is a fundamental part of Heavenly Father's great plan of happiness. I promise that as we both prepare and press forward with faith in the Savior, we all can receive the same grade on the ultimate examination of mortality: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

He was the Firstborn of the Father, the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world.

We got the White Mountain Stake indexing totals for February this morning. We had the second highest amount of individuals indexed, just behind the Rainbow Lake ward. They had 45,000 and we had 41,000. We were pretty excited! I know it's not supposed to be about numbers, and it's not a competition,  but when the stake asks you to do a certain amount and you far exceed that amount I think it's okay to feel good about what you are doing. Way to go Vernonites!

James and I began studying D&C 20-22 this morning together. I am also listening to Brother Halverson whose YouTube lesson is three hours long this week. Whew.

The shepherd's pie I made for lunch turned out delicious. James said it was definitely a comfort food.

Nothing fancy

When our kids were young Sandy, David's first wife, shared a recipe with me for hamburger pie. It was quite similar. The inside had hamburger, onions, and green beans with a tomato soup sauce and it was topped with mashed potatoes. It was a family favorite.

After lunch and rest time I made a trip to town to get some birthday cards and gifts for Sandra and Trenda Wilhelm, Catherine Halcomb, and Jean Howard. All of these people have birthdays this month.
Trenda is not in our ward I love her and wanted to get her a birthday gift. Her birthday is on March 1st and her mom's is on March 2nd.
This is Trenda and her husband Emery:

 n

Trenda, Emmett, and Emery

I made a quick trip in to Walmart for gift bags, colored tissue paper, birthday cards, and lotion and soap or body spray.

After I was finished at Walmart I headed for Dairy Queen to get a couple of boxes of cherry Dilly bars. 12 bars cost $21.60.  I am taking Dilly bars to the Grapp's and they are showing me their new flop eared bunnies.

When I arrived at the turn in to the Grapp's, I noticed several family members gathered around the fence where Thomas was working. I stopped. Benson said that a drunk had run into their fence and knocked it down and didn't even tell anyone. Benson, Emsley, Leland, Cammy and Malea all rode up to the house with me.

When Benson got his Dilly bar he said, yummm, this is sweet, just like you Sister Lambson. Such a charmer.

When Emsley got out of the car she shut the door in Leland's face and somehow he hurt his finger. He began crying and wouldn't let me comfort him but wanted his mom. I took Malea so Cammy could comfort Leland. She is such a sweet, calm baby and didn't mind that I was holding her, although she did keep looking at my face. I guess she was trying to figure out who I was.

Liana was holding her rabbit, Snickers, the only boy of the three. Emsley and Tildy were out at the cage trying to catch their rabbits. When they finally came in they each insisted that I hold their rabbit. Tildy has several scratches from her rabbit, Dixie, and Emsley has ha few. I guess Liana's rabbit is the most tame. I think, Kisses, Emsley rabbit might be my favorite. Half of her mouth is white and half is black making it look like someone had given her kisses.

Snickers, Kisses, and Dixie

On my way home I got a text from Cammy:
"You are so thoughtful! We sure love you! Thank you so much!"

I home I needed to relax a few minutes before it was time to go next door to the Crane's for our "Come Follow Me" discussion. Everyone attended except the Peeler's who had a doctor's appointment in the valley and then were staying the night at their daughter Serena's in Globe.

We took a vote and everyone, with the exception of the Peeler's, thought they would like to try meeting on Sunday evenings instead of Monday. If we do this we will be at the end of the study week instead of at the beginning on Monday. Everyone seems to think that the Peeler's will agree to Sunday.
