During this time, government and educational leaders closed school - which consequently altered graduations and forced the cancellation of sporting, social, cultural, and educational events and activities. Many of you prepared for events that were not attended, performances that were not heard, and athletic seasons that were not played.
Even more poignant are thoughts of families who have lost loved ones during this time; most could not hold funerals or other tender gatherings as they had hoped.
In short, many, many of you have dealt with heartbreaking disappointment, sorrow, and discouragement. So how do we heal, endure, and move forward when things seem so broken?

Happy Thanksgiving!
How grateful I am for Kacey this morning. As we began the Thanksgiving day preparations she was right there by my side. She made deviled eggs, which took a long time, but she methodically, meticulously made 12 delicious deviled eggs. James loved them!
She made a veggie tray. She made 10 lbs. of mashed potatoes, and kept the dishes done while we were working together. Thank you Kacey for making my Thanksgiving easier.
Jared helped with Charlie. She had two servings of oatmeal for breakfast. He made an appetizer ring consisting of cheese, ham, and cranberry surrounded in Pillsbury crescent rolls. It looked like a wreath and tasted delicious! Thank you Jared for your delicious appetizer and for taking care of Charlie.
I asked James to clean out the turkey for me, which he did. That's a job I hate doing and he did it for me. Thank you honey. He went with the girls outside to ride Luna. Since she had not been ridden for awhile she was feisty. She has never bucked when James was walking her so he did not expect it when she bucked and through him off while she was walking. Lola came running in the house to tell me that Luna bucked grandpa off. Kacey and I were working in the kitchen. We ran outside to see James lying on the ground. He finally got up. He thinks he may have cracked some ribs because of the pain. He immediately got back on Luna and rode her around to "let her know who is boss." Those were his words. He brought her in to the yard and let Molly and Ruby ride her. Kacey said no to Charlie riding and I don't blame her one bit! I think Lola was a little afraid to ride.
Lola loves Charlie and was such a good playmate. They loved going upstairs and playing "tea party" and birthday party. Once when Charlie first got here she pulled the chair over to the railing, stood on it, and looked down. This freaked all of us out and so Kacey always made sure someone was with her when she was upstairs. She only did it once.
Charlie is a sweet two year old. She talks quietly and most of the time is agreeable and friendly to everyone. She is such a joy and a blessing!
One of Trina's favorite Thanksgiving traditions, and now it is Addy's too, is running in the Turkey Trot. They ran this morning before they came up to have Thanksgiving with us.
It was somewhere between 3:30-4:30 when Darrel, Trina, Addy, and Rowan arrived. Stacy was not too far behind. We were still preparing the meal. Immediately Trina and Addy asked what they could do to help. The first thing I asked them to do was put a tablecloth on the table and set the table with the china, gold flatware and stemware. I did forget the cloth napkins so we used paper. I gave Rowan a tablecloth for the table in the entry for the kids and he put it on and help set that table. Trina cooked the corn and Addy made the Stove Top stuffing. I tried to make some of Lois's dressing, minus the giblets, but the cornbread I used was too sweet. I liked it but James didn't.
Here is what we had for dinner: Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans with bacon, cranberry celebration and plain cranberry sauce, and rolls. James made his special punch in a five gallon cooler which dripped all over the floor. For appetizers we had deviled eggs, a veggie tray, and Jared's holiday crescent ring. For dessert: Pumpkin delight, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, French silk chocolate pie, lemon meringue pie, and apple and cherry pie. We used lots of Coolwhip and whipped cream. The meal was delicious and the company was wonderful. I am so grateful that Jared and Kacey came with Charlie and Molly. They really made our Thanksgiving.
At the adult table we had: James, Karen, Stacy, Jared, Kacey, Charlie, Darrel, Trina, and Addy. At the kids table: Rowan, Ruby, Molly, and Lola. I'm sorry to say that we did not get a picture of the kids table. How grateful we are for our grandchildren!
Trina, Stacy and Addy cleaned the kitchen. Stacy was so impressed that Addy never left the kitchen until it was clean. Addy is such a blessing in our lives!
We miss Brian and Kim. They come up for Thanksgiving almost every year. We are praying that Kim will be able to overcome the dizzy spells she is still having.
Gratitude for Blessings:
