"Sharing the Message of the Restoration and the Resurrection"
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
Whatever it may be, we cannot escape the fact that we need to understand and live the principles of the restored gospel as best we can for our invitations to be inviting. It is something often referred to today as authenticity. If the love of Christ dwells in us, others will know that our love for them is genuine. If the light of the Holy Spirit burns within us, it will rekindle the Light of Christ within them, What you are lends authenticity to your invitation to come experience the joy of the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This morning we attended the funeral services for Bill Solomon at the Show Low Stake Center. We walked in with Harold, Vickie, Dennis, and Denise. We went through the line in the Relief Society room at the viewing so we could see Rita and give her our love and condolences. We also spoke with each of her kids, Ricky asked about Jared, and we hugged Aunt Gene who almost lost her wig while giving hugs.

When we went to sit in the chapel I saw Deanne, one of my good friends from high school. She is Rita's cousin on her dad's side. Deanne's mom was Rita's dad's sister.

Here is a copy of the program for the funeral. Bishop Redmond presided.

Bill and Rita were married 53 years. Bill has suffered through cancer twice and had a quadruple bypass. He hung on for 22 years to be with his family. His passing was a blessing to him because of the pain he was in but of great sadness to his family. He liked Dairy Queen, getting wood, and fishing. His last job was a security guard at the Hondah Casino. He had a great love for the Native American people. He coached his kids softball and baseball teams and had a great sense of humor. I am sure is family is going to miss him. What a blessing an eternal family is!

After the funeral James, Harold, Vickie, Dennis, Denise, and I went to Licano's for lunch.  James, Harold, Vickie, and Dennis had the special a prime rib carne asada. When they were delivered to the table I was wishing I would have orderd one. I got a taco salad and Denise had a chicken chimi. All of the food was devoured.

I had asked our waitress to take a picture of all of us but she was just too busy. We stepped outside and James took some pictures and then Harold took one with James. He was going to send it to me but hasn't yet.

I wish we had chosen a different background

As we were getting ready to leave Harold said, "See ya at the next funeral." It's a shame we don't get together more often since we all live so close.

James and I made a trip to Walmart and Home Depot. James is looking for a charging cord for the camera and I need a few groceries. I have been looking for a planner for the New Year as many are 18 month planners. I found one I really like. Well at least I like the inside, the outside isn't that great.

I wanted a bigger planner with a monthly calendar and weekly pages and a yearly calendar for birthdays. This is what I got:

Birthday Calendar

Monthly Calendar

Daily/Weekly page with three sections for each day
The first section for the day will have my daily schedule.
The second one will be a recipe of what I am fixing for
our nice meal of the day.
The third will be notes or a to do list.
Monthly Goals

At the beginning of the month there is a page like this.
I'm so excited to get started!

When we got home we rested and I did some reading to James and then listened to my book while I walked. I started getting a sore throat so I took some aspirin along with my Tramadol. James had a meeting this evening as he is going to be an usher at church tomorrow.

I love this!

"The Finest Homes"
Elder L. Whitney Clayton
The attributes of Christ are acquired in the "process of time" by intentional progress along the covenant path. Christlike attributes adorn the lives of those who strive to live with goodness. They fill homes with gospel light, whether the floor is mud or marble. Even if you are the only one in your household who follows the injunction to "seek after these things," you can contribute to the spiritual furnishings of your family's home.

I woke up at 3:45 this morning and could not go back to sleep so I got out of bed and began my day. I was pretty tired by early afternoon.

James is still bugling for the elk but he did not have any answer today. It might be too warm or maybe because it is archery elk season they are all going back up on the mountain.

I spent a couple of hours washing my car this morning. It is so small that it is pretty easy to wash. I got cleaner for the tires and they looked so pretty and shiny when I was finished.

I picked up my friend Jean around 11:00 this morning and we went to lunch at Mountain Thai in Lakeside. We ordered #9, vegetable and noodle soup and then we sat out on the patio because the dining room was not open. Jean got shrimp and clear noodles with her soup and I got chicken and egg noodles with mine. We asked for a bottle of their sweet chili to put in our soup. I forgot how much I love this soup with the sweet chili. Like Jean says, it is quite addictive. Neither one of us could finish so we both took the rest home for dinner. It was a beautiful day to be sitting outside in the shade. We were right by the highway and heard all of the traffic, otherwise it would have been perfect.

Kim got the results of her MRI today. This is what she said when I texted her: Yes. Just talked to the neurologist. I have acute sinus disease. I have it on both sides but it is way worse on the left with 50% blockage. Some has calcified. I may need surgery, I hope not though. I told the doctor that I feel like I've had a sinus infection for a month and a half. He said that it has been much, much longer that that. But it also explains why my temples hurt, my head hurts, my ears hurt, the left sides is numb, etc. Seeing an ENT on Monday. Say prayers that I won't need surgery.

Luna raced the Razr up the hill this evening and she won. She has so much personality for a horse!

We sold some land in Deming. One of our renters has missed about 32 payments so we decided we needed to try and sell it. James knew someone who wanted to buy. This money will help him buy a new truck since the insurance money only wants to give him $9,000 to replace it.

"Come and Belong"
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
There is no threshold of perfection you must attain in order to qualify for God's grace. In truth, God does not show favoritism - the things the world values mean nothing to Him. He knows your heart, and He loves you regardless of your title, financial net worth, or number of Instagram followers. As we incline our hearts to our Heavenly Father and draw near to Him, we will feel Him draw near to us.

Inklings

We had several elk in our field this morning. I got a picture of one.

James has a lot of paperwork, including typing up a contract for a piece of property he sold in Deming. He would much rather be working outside on the fence. He was going to set some fence posts but that is a two person job. Anthony was supposed to come today but he called and said he was worried about the transmission in his truck so he turned around and went home.

I watched a few dances from the new season of Dancing with the Stars today. I don't like Tyra Banks as the hostess and I miss Lindsay and Whitney who are both out this season having babies.

This afternoon I went to the post office and then to Dollar General. I got some greeting cards. They are a $1 a piece at Dollar General and $3-8 at Walmart. I got a sympathy card for Rita, and birthday cards for Lois, Dawn, and Scarlett. I also got some snacks and some car care products.

James rode Luna again this evening and tonight when he ran her she didn't buck.

I bought a birthday gift for Lois and Dawn using my credit card rewards points. I got Lois a birthday calendar kind of like mine and I bought Dawn a journal, some notebooks, and markers. I guess I like to buy things that I like.

James and I started the next Sadie Hofmiller book in the culinary mystery series by Josi S. Kilpack. This one is in England and is called "English Trifle."

I love the covers of these books.
I think there are 12 or 13 of them.

I started a new audio book by Betsy Brannon Green called "Hearts in Hiding." This is part of the Haggarty, Georgia series. I have read one other book in this series and I like the characters in Haggarty.
