Jesus Christ, Mediator of the Covenant
Galatians 3:19
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

"The Great Plan"
President Dallin H. Oaks
God's plan gives us four great assurances to assist our journey through mortality. All are given to us through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the centerpiece of the plan. The first assures us that through His suffering for the sins of which we repent, we can be cleansed of those sins. Then the merciful final judge will "remember them no more" (DC 58:42).
Second, as part of our Savior's Atonement, He took upon Him all other mortal infirmities. This allows us to receive divine help and strength to bear the inevitable burdens of mortality, personal and general, such as war and pestilence.
Third, the Savior, through His infinite Atonement, revokes the finality of death and gives us the joyful assurance that all of us will be resurrected. The Book of Mormon teaches, "This restoration shall come to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous; and even there shall not so much as a hair of their heads be lost; but every thing shall be restored to its perfect frame" (Alma 11:44).
Fourth and finally, modern revelation teaches us that our progress need not conclude with the end of mortality. Little has been revealed about this important assurance. We are told that this life is the time to prepare to meet God and that we should not procrastinate our repentance (see Alma 34:32-33). Still, we are taught that in the spirit world the gospel is preached even to "the wicked and the disobedient who had rejected the truth" (DC 138:29) and that those taught there are capable of repentance in advance of the Final Judgment (see verses 31-34, 57-59).

It is Spirit Week at Lola's school. Today is pajama day. Lola wore her Frozen nightgown and some people might think it was just a pretty dress.

Ruby is ready to give her report on the Australian Dingo Dog. She went outside on the backporch and practiced on Saturday. She also had me look at her report on the computer and make corrections. I feel like she is very conscientious and she is ready. She didn't actually have to give her report today like she thought she would, but she is ready. Ruby is in the 4th grade.

When his parents were gone Rowan got himself up at 6:15. He was always already downstairs and ready when I went to get him up. One night he packed a lunch for the next day. Today, since his parents were here, he fell asleep on the couch and had to hurry at the last minute to get ready to go. Interesting. Rowan is in the 8th grade.

Addy had allergies last week and stayed home from school. This week is her first full week at school and this morning she was up and ready to go. Addy is a junior at high school.

It was overcast this morning and the kids thought it might rain. I told them not to get their hopes up but to just enjoy the clouds.

I went to Target this morning and got two boxes of Dove dark chocolate raspberry sherbet bars. He loves these and we can never find them in Show Low. I also got myself another blouse, a phone cord and other miscellaneous items.

After Target I came home and had some lunch and then drove the 33 miles to Scottsdale to Lash Bomb so Stacy could work on my lashes. When she looked at them she said it looked like I had been rubbing my left eye because several of the lashes were gone and some were bent and twisted. I told her if I had that I was not conscious of it. Nikki was there when I first got there but she left before I was finished. Stacy promised she would only work on me an hour. It was a little longer than an hour but I liked the result. I told her I was going to be more careful and that I was going to start wearing my glasses to bed to protect my lashes.

Trina sent me $200 via Venmo today. I told her that I did not want ANY money for babysitting my grandchildren. She insisted I keep it so I told her I was going to buy dinner for everyone tonight. This was a good night to do it because she was gone from 4-7 taking Ruby to the orthodontist and Ruby and Lola to tumbling lessons, and Addy to cross country. I guess Monday is their busiest day.

First I asked Addy where were some places that her family liked to eat. She said, Mod Pizza, Rubio's, Backyard Taco, Cafe Rio, and Firehouse. I chose Mod Pizza because they deliver. Addy wanted a mini pineapple pizza, Rowan wanted the next size of pepperoni pizza, Ruby wanted a Caesar's salad, and Lola wanted a pepperoni, sausage and chicken pizza. I ordered a couple of more salads and asked for delivery. Lola's pizza was the best! Trina didn't want anything but I thought maybe she would eat one of the salads. She and Darrel are doing the fasting diet and don't want to eat after six.
Ruby couldn't eat her salad because she had been to the orthodontist today and had her braces worked on. Her mom made her a protein shake.

James went to Globe today and picked up his trailer and took it to a place in Mesa where it could be fixed. He used Darrel's truck, which he loves by the way. It's a black dual cab Chevy Silverado.

Trina sat all the kids down tonight and had scriptures with them. We read 3 Nephi 12. Lola read too. She has been told that her dad learned how to read by reading the Book of Mormon so she always wants to be a part of scripture reading. Ruby said the family prayer.

James is dealing with the insurance company about his truck and is pretty stressed. He came down to work on Mario's houses and he has not been able to do as much as he wanted.

Wish someone would make me

We are all attending church today in Sheri's ward, the Galveston 3rd ward in Chandler. It starts at 9 a.m. and Ben is speaking. Kim and Brian will not be there because Kim is still feeling dizzy and nauseated. She ask if her dad could come over and give her a Father's blessing. James drove Darrel's truck and I drove my car so James could go immediately after sacrament meeting to give Kim's blessing and I could take the kids to Sheri's for brunch.

When we got to the church there were very few cars in the parking lot and so I double checked with Sheri to make sure we were at the right building. We were. It's just that the entire ward is still not meeting. They planned for 50 people today. There were 46 and 19 (including Ben), were our family. Those who attended from our family: Sheri, Ian, Alex, Shayna, Max, Evan, Michael, Joe, Stacy, Paul, Joshua, Adam, James, Addy, Rowan, Ruby, Lola, me, and Ben.

Some of our friends we saw: The Tolman's, the Price's, the Coffey's, and Brother Jiminez. Brother Jiminez is a counselor to Bishop Blaser and after every prayer and talk, he had to wipe clean the podium and microphone. The organist played the music but we were not allowed to sing. Here are some of the notes I took on my phone because I forgot my Sunday journal:

"Reverently and Meekly Now"
Brother and Sister Platt gave the prayers. They are Sheri's neighbors
Three boys passed the sacrament. Evan was one of them.
Bishop Blaser read a letter from the First Presidency regarding the upcoming General Conference.

Elder Trezise's talk:
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Shared when JD died. He prayed and didn't feel anything and so he quit believing. One night in desperation he picked up his Book of Mormon and began reading. He said he read Helaman 5:12 at least 40x: "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."
This scripture helped Ben to believe again. Faith is believing and acting. I built my foundation on Jesus Christ and decided I wanted to serve a mission.  Ben read the entire Book of Mormon in two weeks time. He found friends who had the same standards as he did.
It is not supposed to be easy.
Challenge: "Take Action"

Bishop Blaser
Read letter from Ben's mission president. He sang Ben's praises and said what a great missionary he was and that he had affected many lives for the good.
Moroni 10:4

"Teach Me to Walk in the Light"

We were not to "loiter" in the foyer and were to leave the grounds as soon as possible. Sheri and Ian gathered their boys and Shayna took a picture.
Ben, Ian, Sheri, Alex, Max, and Evan

James left to go to Kim and Brian's and Addy, Rowan, Ruby, Lola, and I all went in my car to Sheri's. While there I changed into some comfortable clothes. Rowan changed in the car. The girls stayed in their Sunday clothes. Sheri had apple and strawberry pastries, and cinnamon rolls from The Great Gadsby Bakery. She also had bacon, scrambled eggs, and orange juice for everyone. I had a strawberry pastry, which was delicious,  and some orange juice. When James arrived I could tell Addy was ready to go. Rowan was in the bedroom hanging out with Joshua and Evan. Sheri had made a big deal over Lola so she wanted to stay and go home with grandpa. Ruby said she would stay to make sure that Lola behaved herself. It was just Addy and I in my car. Before leaving I gave Ben a big hug and told him how proud I was of him. Sheri said she had heard his story before and was hoping he would share some of the stories from his mission because he baptized many people. She said their ward missionaries came over the other night and Ben helped them teach the Plan of Salvation to the family. She said it was amazing! I told her we should have a FHE where Ben could share his mission stories. Hopefully we can do that soon.

I took a nap when Addy and I got home. This afternoon Lola and Ruby both wanted to make something for their mom and dad because they are coming home tonight. Ruby made anklets and Lola made a necklace for her mom. I'm not sure what she made for Darrel.

I cleaned the kitchen once. We had left over Peter Piper Pizza and cinnamon dessert from last night and the kids had been snacking. Later Addy made some chicken wontons for dinner and then cleaned and mopped before Darrel and Trina arrived home somewhere between 8:30 and 9.

James and I went in the bedroom at 6 p.m. and had our family discussion on the Sunday morning session of the last conference. It was James and I, Kim and Brian, and Sheri. Jared was busy fixing dinner for Kacey and her kids were coming over as today is her birthday. I can't remember why Stacy couldn't come but she did say that she listened to the talks.

It was a great Sabbath Day!

Happy Birthday Kacey!

Lola got up this morning and decided she needed to write out her Christmas list. She is obsessed with Ruby's friend Madison's cell phone which costs between $800-$1,000. She likes it because it has a pen/stylus. It is one of the ne"w Samsung phones.  She made me spell all of the words and she wrote on a piece of paper: Lola's Christmas list: Phone with a pen. When Ruby got up she told her that she had to be ten to get a phone. Lola said, Well, I'm almost 7 and that's close to ten."

Yesterday I bought pumpkin pancake mix at Walmart and so we made pumpkin pancakes for breakfast. They were delicious! Everyone liked them.

I finally got to watch the new live action Mulan. Rowan says he didn't like it so he left the room. His friend Graham came over and they hung out together upstairs. Addy didn't watch the movie either she went on the staircase and practiced her guitar.

For lunch I made some orange chicken. As a side dish we had fresh baby cucumbers. Lola and Ruby love these cucumbers!

After lunch Ruby went over to Chloe's. Lola wanted to have Chloe's little sister, Ivy, come over but she was going to a birthday party.

At four o'clock I met Stacy at the Super Target at Power and the 202 freeway. She wanted some Tramadol. I also did some shopping. I found myself a new top to wear to church tomorrow.

Back at home Addy went over to a friend's house this evening and Rowan and Graham went to Ryan's. Rowan wore Ruby's cape:

Lola is working on the alphabet write and wipe book I got her.
Rowan is trying to pin his cape.

Ruby and Lola took their showers and then we watched "Forever After" starring Drew Barrymore. James did some laundry and I folded some of Darrel and Trina's clothes. The girls really liked the movie. Drew Barrymore was quite an aggressive and unconventional Cinderella.

When everyone was home we had family prayer. Earlier in the day I had scriptures with the kids. We read 3 Nephi 11 and talked about what it will be like when the Savior comes again.
