Jesus Christ, Lord
3 Nephi 11:13-14
And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying:
Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.

President Russell M. Nelson has promised: "As you prayerfully study the Book of Mormon every day, you will make better decisions-every day. I promise that as you ponder what you study, the windows of heaven will open, and you will receive answers to your own questions and direction for your own life. I promise that as you daily immerse yourself in the Book of Mormon, you can be immunized against the evils of the day, even the gripping plague of pornography and other mind-numbing addictions."

Paul and Joshua left early this morning to go camping and hiking over by Sheep's Crossing. I'm afraid it is going to be very busy as usually half the valley is up here on Labor Day weekend.
I spent the morning studying the gospel and loving it! I am always sad when I have to stop but this morning I had to stop to get ready to go get a new car. I had all of the early morning to study because I wrote in my blog last night. It felt good waking up and feeling like I was a little bit ahead of the game.
On our way in to Horne Auto to see the red car James looked at yesterday, he asked me if I wanted to stop at Hatch and look at the 2019 Nissan, which even though it was a 2019 instead of a 2020 and it had 30,000 miles on it, cost more than the red Ford, but we ended up paying about the same as we would have for the red Ford. I told him I only wanted to stop if this car would be a consideration. James said it was up to me and what I liked. So we stopped and looked and this is what we saw.
We went to Horne so I could look at the red Ford Ecosport.
Although I liked this picture that James had taken and sent to me,
I did not like the looks of it in real life. It was too short and small and it reminded me of a teenager car. I did like the color but I definitely liked the 2019 Nissan Rogue better. It has a better name and looks bigger. James said he had been a little worried about how the Ford would do in the snow.
We went back to Hatch's and talked to Richard, a nice guy with tatoos. The tatoos are a minor point because I really liked Richard. He gave us a good deal. We ended up buying a warranty for $1,500 which will cover repairs up to $125,000 miles or six years. It is called a Vehicle Service Agreement and is backed by Toyota. These are the benefits: Mechanical breakdown protection, 24/7 roadside assistance, substitute transportation, travel protection, transferable, and deductible options. I know I will keep this car for six years. I just don't know if I will be alive that long.
The interior of my new car is black, which I don't particularly care for, and the seats are not leather like Lexy's. Oh well, I guess I can't have everything, as it wouldn't be good for me.
James paid cash for the car. This is most of the profit he made on the Mesa houses and he isn't even finished yet with those houses. He knew that I did not want to have to deal with a car payment. I told him he should have bought himself a truck and we should have just fixed Lexy for me. He said it was more important that I have a reliable vehicle. He wants me to have a sense of freedom. He has been so unselfish about this entire process. No wonder I love him so much!
I drove the Nissan home and James took CR-V and went to Tractor Supply to pick up something before dropping CR-V off at the Goodman's where I picked James up. We thanked Barbara for the use of her car and I had told James to fill the car with gas, which I hope he did. It is great to have such good friends.
Stacy wanted to take me to lunch for my birthday so we left Vader and Shipley with James and headed for LaCasita. Stacy and I both ordered a chicken enchilada with red sauce and a side of rice and beans. A friend from our ward, Brother Allen came in and he came over and gave me a hug. It is so nice when I see members of our ward when I am out and about. The last time I went to Walmart I saw Sister Hall. I really do miss seeing my church friends on a regular basis.
I told Stacy how bad the Walmart up here was so we decided to go to Safeway to do the little amount of shopping we had to do. Before we left LaCasita we put in an order for James for a chicken enchilada with green sauce and a side of beans. He doesn't like their rice. We told the girl when we expected to be back because we were going shopping at Safeway. She said she would have our order ready.
I met another friend at Safeway, Sister Thompson. We chatted for a minute outside as she was just leaving.
There was a big box of watermelons just outside the door and I picked one out for James. This is something I don't like to do but I did it anyway because there is a chance it might be good. Stacy and I had decided that we would do a couple of meals together. One would be steak with her fixing asparagus and I would fix mashed potatoes. The other would be sausage or venison gravy with biscuits. I picked out steaks for James and I and she picked out hers, Joshua's, and Paul's. We got a few other items and then we were on our way back to LaCasita to pick up James's food.
When James thumped on the watermelon I bought he said it sound like it would not be ripe and seemed disappointed. When he cut it open and tasted it, it was a different story. It was perfectly ripe and delicous! Score one for me!
Luna was not around when we returned. Stacy made a comment that she had never actually seen her and maybe she was not real. James decided he would go over to get Luna from where she was standing at the fence pining over the Elkins' horses. This is how he brought her home:
keeping up with the Razr, and then of course in
the second picture you see why. This was so funny
to watch. But poor Luna, she needs a friend,
something besides a car or a Razr that she can
snuggle up to.
Stacy wanted me to watch a show with her on Netflix. It is a BBC show called "Call a Midwife." It is about the poor section of London, east London back in the 1950's and how nuns and midwives help mothers give birth. At first I could not get a connection for any streaming channels. Finally I went to settings and made a connection with our internet. We could now watch her show. I must say this show is very realistic, even showing the birth of some of the babies and some of the weird practices they had in the 50's. It's about not judging if a woman has a venereal disease or is a prostitue, or an unwed mother, and actually serving those who are less fortunate. The midwife who is featured, Jennifer Lee, learns to love these women she serves and calls them "the real heroines." This show is based on the real life journal that Jennifer Lee kept of her experiences. Although I would not recommend it to everyone, the show always ends with a good message. I think James was a little uncomfortable with it as most men would probably be.
We watched two episodes of "Call a Midwife," and two episodes of "Lark Rise to Candleford." My show, "Lark Rise to Candleford," takes place in England around 1895 and is based on the journal of Julia Thompson who grew up in Lark Rise and then moved to Candleford.
When James and I left to go to bed, Stacy was still up. She wanted to watch a show called, "The Crown." As James and I were kneeling for prayer I heard Stacy let out a little scream. I knew immediately why. Batmania. I was right, as she knocked on our door to tell us. James went out with a plastic bat and looked around but of course by this time the bat was perched way up in the rafters somewhere. Stacy did not want us to kill it but she didn't like it flying close to her as it did. How are these little critters getting in and why? Aren't there more bugs for them to eat outside?
