Sunrise over Montosa

I got up at 3am for gospel study because I knew I would be leaving early for my appointment with Dr. Moffat.
My appointment was at 8am and James had one at 9:30.  Becky Skousen, who works for Dr. Moffat and is a member of our ward took us back to our room.  She put us both in the same room which I thought was a little strange.  Dr. Moffat addressed my needs first.  He said I am getting way to much thyroid with the prescription I have from Dr. Walters.  He wrote me a new prescription.  He doesn't believe in using hormones and thinks they do more harm than good so I guess I won't be on hormones.  While Dr. Moffat took care of James, first ordering an EKG, I slipped out to get my prescription filled and do some shopping at Walmart.

I picked James up and we dropped his prescriptions off at CVS and then went to Persnikkity's for something to eat.  We got there around 10:30 and they had just started serving lunch.  I got the California burger and James got the green chili chicken sandwich.  We picked up the prescriptions at CVS and then we went to Safeway to get some ice cream for our wards fathers and sons.  This was an assignment James received at priesthood meeting yesterday.
I slept all the way back to Vernon.  We stopped at the post office.  Jared had sent me a book for mother's day: "Power to Become" by Elder David A. Bednar.  He knows of my great love for church books!

Max had an assignment at school to read a book and then make a character from the book out of a Pringles tube.  Ian was a big help!
Can you guess what book he read?

I made the french toast I wanted James to make yesterday.  It was delicious and I am sure I will be eating it for the rest of the week.
I watched a little too much TV today.  There are lots of good shows on Sunday so I have to try and catchup on Monday.
I am glad we had our FHE on Sunday.

"Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally."
-line 7 The Proclamation to the World

I received happy Mother's Day messages from Stacy, Kim, Brian, Sheri, Jared, Trina and Darrel.  James wrote me a note and made me a 'french toast' waffle for breakfast.  It was a nice way to start the day.

The speakers in sacrament meeting were: Trenda Wilhelm, Mary Carroll, and Lannie Gillespie.  Afterwards the Relief Society distributed a cute handout with a quote about mothers and chocolate.  I knew Kaeli would come through for us with the chocolate.  Kaeli is a friend who was just made Relief Society president.

The title of our Sunday School lesson from the Old Testament was "Look to God and Live."  All those Israelites had to do to be healed was to look at Moses' rod, but they wouldn't.

In Young Women Randa Covert gave a lesson on personal revelation.  I got a mothers day card from my dear friend Analee Hunsaker.

James made me a wonderful mother's day lunch: steak, baked potato, asparagus, corn on the cob, and chocolate covered strawberries.  After such a wonderful meal I needed a nap!

Some pictures posted on Facebook today:

Love these broc-collies!

For FHE tonight James and I studied together from Preach My Gospel.  We started with the lesson: Message of the Restoration.  We will continue on, week to week.  We have gotten away from doing FHE's and I told James we needed to start up again.

We both talked to James's mom, Lois on the phone today.  I thanked her for being such a great mom to me since my mom had passed away.  James is taking her dinner on Tuesday.

It was a wonderful day!

Love this picture taken in
Iceland.

3 Nephi 12:7
"Blessed are the merciful for they shall
obtain mercy."

We just found out this morning that the stake has cancelled the youth pioneer trek.  They could not get permits because of the dry conditions and fire danger.  It's a shame because Vernon would have had the best dressed pioneers.

I read Elder Scott's conference address this morning and cried because it felt like he had written it just for me.  It was an answer to my prayers.  It was all about the influence of righteous women in his life and how we can be a righteous influence in the lives of  family members.
The power of life

James went to town today to get a tire for the Cat fixed and to buy some groceries for Mother's Day.  First he called to ask what chocstrwb was.  I told him it was short for chocolate for the strawberries.  Next he called to ask where the waffles were.  I told him just to get a box of frozen waffles but to find the Texas Toast in the bread aisle.  I guess he forgot the last part because he bought a box of frozen garlic parmesean Texas Toast.  Did he also forget he was going to make french toast with this Texas Toast?  When he checked out he used the self-serve register.  He charged himself twice for milk and when he got home he didn't have his cereal.  I guess it's a good thing he doesn't do the shopping too often.

When he got home and put the groceries away we took a nap and then he went out and planted the two trees he bought in town and the blackberry and raspberry bushes.  He bought a silver leaf maple tree and a red Delicious apple.

I did some laundry and studied.  This evening we watched a Hallmark movie: "See Jane Date."
Sheri posted this.
I couldn't resist.

Although grandmother's have more time to pray,
they also have more people to pray for!

Mosiah 26: 14-39
Why does the Lord require us to forgive others?  How are repenting and forgiving others connected?

I studied the Book of Mormon and prayed with James this morning before going to my 8 o'clock appointment at Acacia Endodontists.  I had a consultation with Dr. Cullimore.  The news is not good.  I have an abscess tooth.  The first bad new was a $150 CT scan.  Another root canal will not help.  I have to have surgery.  I will be swollen for 3-4 days and bruised for more.  It is going to cost anywhere from $2000-4000.  I am depressed.
On to my appointment at the Arizona Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates in Mesa.  My appointment is with Tiffany.  I learned something from her today.  The nodules on my fingers are not from rheumatoid arthritis.  She doesn't think the swelling I had in my hand was either.  I told her about my hair loss and she upped my folic acid prescription.
After my appointment I pickup James and we go to lunch at Olive Garden.  I had the chicken and shrimp carbonara.  It was good but next time I will get the chicken scampi.
James has to meet Bill Valentic in Show Low this evening so I guess we are going home today.  James left and took the drawer to Dan Taylor so he can make one for the one that we lost on his way out of town.  I went home to take a nap.  I got a card and goodies from Sheri and Kim and I made dinner plans for next week.  I left around 4 and got home around 8.  James was watching TV.

Tricia and the girls were in the valley this weekend.  Her brother Chris and his girlfriend just had a baby.  We didn't get to see them.
Wallen cousins.

Jared and James went to their fathers and sons outing.  He sent me these pictures:

"Every day and every hour you can choose to make or keep
a covenant with God."
-Pres. Henry B. Eyring

I wish I looked this good
in my costume.
James and I had scriptures and prayer together before he left for the valley. I will be leaving to join him later this afternoon.

The weather has been so fickle today.  When I said my prayers this morning, I prayed for rain.  It rained, for about 5 minutes and then it snowed.  None of this was predicted but it was appreciated!

I am struggling to write a letter to one of my grandchildren about my testimony, my love for him, and what I have learned from reading the Book of Mormon.  Sometimes it is difficult to share the things most near and dear to our hearts.

I watched Granite Flats and Once Upon a Time before leaving for the valley.  As I was getting ready to go I got a call from Stacy.  I guess James forgot to tell her that he was showing the house to a realtor this afternoon.  Today happened to be the day Dallin was moving in and he had a huge mess in the family room.  Also, there was a leak under the kitchen sink and the cold water had to be turned off.

I left at 4 instead of 3 this afternoon because I needed a nap.  I stopped at National Bank to make a deposit, McDonald's, which was a mistake, and CVS to pick up James's prescription from the allergist.  Well I didn't get the prescription because it was $300.
Of course I went the Payson way.  It was 8pm when I arrived at our house in Chandler.  I watched part of American Idol, and then got ready and went to bed.

"Challenges will come to you, but as you trust in God,
they will strengthen your faith."

At 4am I noticed my phone was calling Tricia.  I quickly hung up, hoping she hadn't noticed, but a few minutes later she called me back and I apologized.  How do these things happen?  If it's a "smart phone" why does it call people at 4am?
James had a doctor's appointment with Dr. Jeffrey LeSueur, an allergist in Show Low.  He left around 10am.  About 20 minutes later he called and said it was raining in Show Low.  Lynda Tanner said it hailed at her house and Lorraine Vaught said it snowed.  We got nothing here but dark clouds and the wind which blew them away.

Tonight for Young Women's we took dinner to Denice Hall who is recovering from surgery.  There was pizza, salad, soda, water, and ice cream.  After eating the young women went to work.

Shelly is moping the floor.
 Kilee did the vacuuming.

Jordyn did a nice job of dusting.  Sorry I didn't get a picture, I thought I did.
Back at the church Sister Lorraine Vaught loans the young men and young women her pioneer clothing.  The outfits were amazing!

She would not let me take a picture of her face.

When I returned home James was watching Person of Interest.  I told him to watch it without me because it is often so violent that I don't like it.

 Sky over Sierra Mentosa
"And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face.  I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up."
-D&C 84:88
I didn't feel well this morning.  I am tried and still a little upset with James.  When I was ready to post on my blog James was using the computer so I took a nap instead.  I have not been sleeping very well at night.
I got a call from our Young Women's president about tomorrow night's Mutual.  We are taking dinner to Denice Hall and doing some cleaning for her.
Turquoise, Moraine Lake, Baniff, Alberta, Canada
James and I made a trip to town today.  We had lunch at Grumpy Jack's.  I had my usual, a pulled pork sandwich and some coleslaw.  It was quite yummy.  Afterwards I did some shopping at Walmart while James went to Home Depot to get the materials to make a dresser drawer.  I slept on the way home and then when I got home, I took a nap.
Turquoise Sea, Australia
A member of our ward, Paula Johnson posted on Facebook today that she needs help paying back property taxes.  James and I determined we would send some money to help.  Paula does lots of service here in Vernon and we want her to know that we appreciate what she does.
James and I watched Castle this evening.  James said it was the best one he has ever seen!
Sheri posted this cat on Facebook today and I couldn't resist!
Serious cat!
