Alma 34:15-16
And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on his name; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance. And thus mercy can satisfy the demands of justice, and encircles them in the arms of safety, while he that exercises no faith unto repentance is exposed to the whole law of the demands of justice; therefore only unto him that has faith unto repentance is brought about the great and eternal plan of redemption.

October General Conference
"Abide the Day in Christ" by Sister Amy A. Wright

I watched and listened to Emily and her non-member friend Nish on Inklings this morning. They discussed Elder Soares conference address, "Brothers and Sisters in Christ."

After James and Jared went out to work on the stable, I got a call from Sheri. She had been for a walk this morning and when she passed Sal's house she picked up a very strong odor of natural gas.
She tried to call James but he didn't answer, she called me. She wanted him to call Sal and tell him.

As soon as I hung up with Sheri, I tried to call James but he still wasn't answering so I walked out side and shouted to him to please call me. When he called I told him about Sheri's call and he said he would immediately call Sal, which he did. Sal and his entire family were home and they had smelled nothing from inside the house.
Sal called Southwest gas. They came out and said there was a major leak and everyone needed to get out of the house. Sal later thanked Sheri and told her she had probably saved their lives.

Sheri gave a report on Alex. He still doesn't want to take pain pills, even though he is still in a lot of pain. He did go home today.

I made a big batch of chocolate frosting using both cream cheese and butter. It came with the Most Amazing Cake recipe and is called the Most Amazing Frosting recipe. I was running out of time so I frosted two of the 6" cake layers for Donna. It made a cute little cake which I decorated but forgot to take a picture of it.

I put the cake on a tray and drove slowly to Donna's with her gift, a tube of body cream from Bath and Body.

Stefani Hunsaker answered the door when I arrived at Donna's. Stefani and Donna are my ministering sisters so this visit is their way of keeping in touch with me as well as celebrating Donna's 81st birthday. Stefani told us a neat story. She said Sunday during the sacrament she had the thought, "who can I help this week.?" The thought came to her to finish up a baby quilt, which she did. Later on Facebook, Brother Richard Miller asked if anyone had a baby blanket they could use for their new grandbaby. Stefani offered them hers.

I set Donna's cake on the kitchen table and then handed her the gift and gave her a hug. As the three of us were visiting, someone knocked on the door. Donna called, "come in" and Stefani got up to answer the door.  It was our friend, Millie Scott, coming to bring goodies and birthday wishes to Donna. Millie brought homemade peach jam, homemade pickled beets, a bouquet of peach colored roses, and some salmon for Owen, Donna's husband. Millie found a mason jar and put the roses in it. They looked beautiful!

Millie visited with us for awhile and then said her nephew from Houston was visiting so she needed to get home.

Soon after Millie left I excused myself. Owen walked me out as he did Millie and thanked me for coming. He was cutting wood while we were there. He said Donna loves it when her friends come to visit because she gets tired of talking to him. I am sure she is very grateful for everything he does for her.

James and Jared were finishing up their lunch and getting ready to go to town.  I made myself a ham and cheese sandwich and then I had a piece of chocolate cake with a glass of milk.

When James returned from town he had a piece of cake too. He says it is delicious which makes me feel good. He's pretty picky about his sweets.

I made a hamburger soup for dinner with corn muffins. James put the food away afterwards and did the dishes. I finished the book "The Governess" while walking and started a new one, "Diamond Rings are Deadly Things." I got 11,000 of my own steps and then James took my phone and got 4,000 more steps while I watched "The Golden Bachelor.
