Behold the Lamb of God

"Looking up from water's edge, past the eager crowds seeking baptism at his hand, John, called the Baptist, saw in the distance his cousin, Jesus of Nazareth, striding resolutely toward him to make a request for that same ordinance. Reverently, but audible enough for those nearby to hear, John uttered the admiration that still moves us two millennia later: 'Behold the Lamb of God.'"

My knee was not better this morning and I was pretty miserable. I did not feeling like going anywhere so on this Mother's Day, I stayed home from my meetings. I am sad I will not be taking the sacrament today but I did say a prayer and recommitted myself to the Lord.

James, of course, went to his meetings. I told him not to forget my Mother's Day treat. He came home with flowers. Oh well, that's nice too. He said that my girl Shelly spoke in sacrament meeting and so did Bishop Miller, two of my favorite people.

As James was telling me about the meetings I got a text from the Relief Soceity President and my friend, Tamara who also happens to be Shelly's mom. She and Shelly wanted to bring me some flowers. I told her James brought me flowers but I would love to see them. I went to the bedroom to make myself presentable and before I was finished Tamara and Shelly arrived. I could hear Shelly playing the piano.

Shelly just returned from her mission a week or so ago and I have been anxious to see her. We gave each other a big hug when we saw each other. The three of us sat down and talked for about 30 minutes, catching up and reminiscing. Some of my favorite Shelly memories are splitting wood for the widows and trying to keep up with Shelly as she stacked wood. The first time she came to our home and ran through the house counting all of the closets. She came to me and said, "Sister Lambson, did you know that you have 11 closets in this house?" And probably my favorite is when I took the girls in Young Women's who had read the Book of Mormon to our time share in Scottsdale. We arrived on a Sunday evening and Shelly was anxious to try out her scuba mask. Because it was the Sabbath Sister Nicoll and I told the girls we would not be swimming until tomorrow. Shelly immedaitely went to the bathroom with the large bathtub, filled it with water, and with her swimsuit on and scuba mask in place, she tried out her mask.

She is a fun-loving young adult with a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and I love her dearly. Oh yes, one more story, when Shelly was a Mia Maid. Trenda, another young woman, was trying to talk Shelly into going to a Church dance. Shelly made the comment, "Well I'm not going to touch a guy when I'm dancing."

As Tamara and Shelly left, it was raining and it rained most of the day. Eveything looks so beautiful and green which is usually not the case this time of year.

James made me a nice breakfast this morning and then lunch and cheese apple danish. The apple danish was so good we decided to do it again next week only instead of apples we are going to try cherries.

I heard from all of my children today. Yesterday I got a card from Sheri's family. She and Ian signed the card as wells as Alex, Max,and Ian. It was nice to hear from all of them. Sheri texted me again this morning. Trina texted and so did Darrel. Kim and Brian texted and Kim sent a card which I will probably get tomorrow.

Stacy called and we had a nice conversation. She wants to take me to lunch the next time I am in town. I love spending time with my kids so that will be fun. Jared, Kacey, and Charlie FaceTimed which was fun. In spite of my bad knee it was a good day.

This evening James and I watched the new episode of "When Calls the Heart". This is one of the only shows I don't feel guilty about watching on the Sabbath.

I did do some gospel study today and finished up with this weeks "Come Follow Me" lesson. I was sad to miss Sister Skousen's Relief Society lesson on Sister Craven's talk, "Careful versus Casual." Tamara said she did a good job.

I still miss my mom and my grandmothers but know that I will see them again. I am so grateful that families are eternal as long as we are faithful and keep our covenants. All of the problems we have here on earth will be worked out in the millennium or the next life, I am sure of that.
