On May 28th we began our journey to the magical land of California. This trip was to celebrate three things: 1) Addy's potty training, 2) Darrel's graduation from ASU, and 3) Our 39th wedding anniversary. We left our home in Chandler at 10:20 a.m. and arrived at the Embassy Suites on Harbor Blvd. in Garden Grove at approximately 8:40 p.m. Yes, you read that right, a ten hour trip for what normally would take 5 1/2 hours. But who said we were normal? We made five stops, including a jobsite in LaQuinta. The traffic in Palm Springs was terrible as everyone was coming back into the L.A. area from the three day weekend. The first thing James and I had to do was make a trip to Target which is within walking distance of our hotel, although we didn't walk. As we were checking out we realized we knew the person standing in line in front of us. It was Rondalee Lamb Jones. Rondalee is the daughter of Jerry & Nygra Lamb, friends of ours from our Chandler 2nd ward early days in Chandler. She informed us that her parents had just left for the MTC. They are headed for Sharon, Vermont to serve a mission. Isn't it interesting that we drove 350 miles to hear news from home.
