I was up at 4:35 this morning. I went in to put the roast in the crockpot. To my surprise, Kim was already up. She was putting post-it notes up on the kitchen cupboards, and in the hallway and on the dining room hutch. When I asked her what she was doing, she said, "I'm putting up dad jokes." She put up at least 41. Here are a few of my favorites:
Dad Jokes

1. I love going outdoors. It's much safer than going out windows.
2. I asked my wife if she loved me for my face or my body. She laughed and said it was for my sense of humor.
3. Whenever the cashier at the grocery store asks my dad if he would like the milk in a bag he replies: "No, just leave it in the carton!"
4. I was upset when my neighbor put a fence around his swimming pool. Then I got over it.
5. Why did the mushroom get invited to all the parties? Because he was a fungi.
6. What does a grape say when it is squashed? Nothing, it just lets out a little wine.
7. What country's capital is growing the fastest? Ireland. Every day it's Dublin.
8. Just had a policeman knock on my door saying he was looking for a man with one ye. I told him to use both and he'd probably find him a lot quicker.
9. Meet Rolex and Timex...they are my watch dogs.
10. At my age I am good at multitasking. I can listen, ignore, and forget all at once.
11. My recliner and I go way back.
12. I never knew how technologically advanced Moses was. He had the first tablet that could connect to the cloud.
13. What do you call a cow that eats your grass? A lawn moo-er.
14. Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field.
15. When I was young I was scared of the dark. Now when I see my electric bill I am scared of the lights.
16. Amal and Juan are identical twins. Their mom only carries one baby photo in her wallet. Because if you've seen Juan you've seen Amal.
17. My wife's mad at me because she said I never buy her flowers. I honestly didn't even know she sold flowers.
18. I have a pet tree. It's like having a pet dog, but the bark is quieter.
19. Sometimes I wake up grumpy. But other times I let her sleep in.
20. Why is Cinderella bad at soccer? Because she runs away from the ball.
21. You come from dust, you will return to dust. That's why I don't dust. It could be someone I know.

One of his favorites was the one about being afraid of
the dark and then the light when he saw his electric bill.

Both Brian and Kim are feeling sick this morning and won't be going to church. James gave them both a blessing and then they went back to bed.

Before leaving for church I added carrots, celery, and onions to the roast and put the potatoes in the crockpot to heat up.

None of the Wilhelm's are at church, except for Mel, the grandpa who has health issues. I found out later they all of the family is gone to Washington state to Andy's wedding.

Today is high councilman Sunday. Matt Hipps was our assigned speaker. Carson Alder was his speaking companion and Carson's dad, President Alder of our stake presidency spoke also.

When Carson spoke he told a story about his dad on his mission in Italy in the late 1900's. President Alder mentioned it when he spoke, about how it made him seem so old.

All of the brothers were invited into the Relief Society room for biscuits and gravy during the second hour. Tamara, Jimmy Applegate's wife, taught gospel doctrine. I loved her lesson and was impressed with her power point. I guess I am going to have to get Kerri to show me how to do power point. Here is one slide:

When we got home Kim and Brian were still downstairs, asleep. I wanted the roast to cook a little longer but I was hungry. I asked James if he would please bring in the cake from the refrigerator out in the garage. We had cake for lunch and it was absolutely delicious. I also had a protein shake so the sugar would be slowed down by the protein.

The Best Cake Ever!

After our cake we took a nap, Tom and James on the bed and me on the recliner.

I got up at 2:00 and went into the kitchen/dining room to find Kim & Brian just finishing their meal. Brian said the roast was cooked to perfection and that the potatoes were delicious. He gave me a big thank you.

When James got up he opened his Father's Day gifts and cards.

I gave him three Superman shirts, all different and a new pair of jeans. Kim & Brian gave him a $50 Amazon gift card and so did Darrel & Trina. I think he had a great Father's Day. He heard from all of his children and I hope he knows how much we love and appreciate him!

Our friends, T-Bo & Barbara Tignor love carrot cake and we shared some of ours with them. While we were at their house we admired the rocks and steps that had put around their property.

Before I left for the Tignor's Kim was helping me with my handouts for Sunday. While James and I were gone, Brian and Kim finished them. I am so happy! Fifty gift boxes ready to go!

I am so happy!

Later James and I had some roast, veggies, and potatoes. I didn't eat a roll but I think James did. I also made a salad which Kim and James both had and then I spent over two hours cleaning the kitchen and putting all of the food away.

Just a couple of more notes. Kim has a knew blood glucose device that fits in her arm and automatically tells her what her blood sugar is on her phone. She was reading the book, "Fly Lady" by Heather Moore so I downloaded it on my DeseretBook Plus app and began reading it. It is historical fiction. It's about women pilots who helped during World War II and all of the characters are real historical figures.

I was up at 4:38 this morning. Happy 50th Birthday Brian!
Kim, Brian and I were talking about Scotland and how we all want to go to the Edinburgh temple open house. Kim said when they were in Scotland at a place called Forfar, she had a warm feeling. She is wondering if that is where the Maxwell's are from. I don't know, I need to do some research.

It was a busy day here at the Lambson Lodge. James went to Mike Hipps' for a short time and then worked the rest of the day @ Crane's. James forgot to get gas while in town and he ran out going back and forth between our place and Crane's. I went with him into town this evening in the car with a gas can in the back to bring the gas back in. We stopped at the post office. More packages: my flag t-shirt, the picture of the Savior from David Bowman called, "The Guardian."

I put Rhodes rolls out to rise this morning at 9:30. James came home from the Crane's for lunch. I made him a BLT sandwich and he ate the last of the beans. After lunch he took a nap with Tom.

Bedtime buddies

Kim and I are making dinner for James and Brian tomorrow for Father's Day. Today I am doing the rolls and the mashed potatoes and Kim is making the carrot cake. The cake is actually for James and I for Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Kim peeled the potatoes and help me cut them up and put them on to boil. When I finished making them I put them in the frig. Tomorrow I will put them in the crockpot to heat up slowly while we are gone to church.

Kim made biscuits and gravy for Brian's birthday dinner, then she made James and I our carrot cake.

James hung our flag for flag day and Brian helped James for awhile over at the Crane's. Not only is today flag day, but it is also Dallin's 30th birthday.

I walked outside on the deck and as I was walking I organized a pile of wood, thinking I should now mow the back lawn for James. It didn't happen because I can't start the lawn mower.

It was a small thing but I enjoyed doing it

I did two blog posts, got my steps and made James a sweet potato for dinner. I had asked Kim earlier if they wanted to play our new game, "Ticket to Ride" this evening. She said yes, but she was still working on the cake and I was just too tired.

Up at 5:06. I feed the kitties. Harry has disappeared. I call him Harry Houdini. He never stays for very long.

James needs heat rub and a heating pad on his back again. He has been bending over too much at the Crane's tying rebar. He worked at Matt Hipps' this morning and then the Crane's this afternoon. He was still at the Hipps' when I left for the temple around 1:45. I stopped at the post office at the same time as my friend Millie Scott. I gave her a big hug and a kiss. Yes, she is that kind of friend. I picked up James's Father's Day gifts, 3 Superman shirts and a pair of jeans.

It was a little early when I got to Snowflake to go to the temple. I needed to stop at Walmart. Should I try to do so before the temple? I felt a sense of adventure, so I went for it. These are the items I needed and got: Roast slow cooker seasoning, 3 types of candy for Jarred MacArthur, Father's day card for him and gift wrap, patriotic sticks. $43.56 Yikes!

It is now 3:03 and I need to be at the temple for the 3:30 session. When I arrive at the temple the parking lot is close to full so I have to park further away. There is a sealing and tons of people are waiting outside and I wind my way through them, excusing my way in. Locker 8 is open ... and Ruth saved me a place next to her. My 14th visit to the temple this year.

After the session Ruth says she is not hungry and suggests going for pie. I told her I couldn't because of my blood sugar. I told her I was just going to go home. She said: "Thank you, Karen." I think Jewell didn't want to go to dinner and she felt responsible for her. I invited Ruth to go to the Willis' funeral with us on Monday, but she declined.

Three or four miles outside of Show Low traffic comes to a complete halt. It is still coming through in the opposite direction. People were turning around and going back in the opposite direction. Finally, after about 20 minutes we finally move. Two red pickups had collided.

When I arrived back at home I had a pork chop for dinner and then began walking. Kim & Brian arrived at 7:07. I wrapped James's Father's Day gifts and Jarred MacArthur's, Rollos, Reese's FastBreak and Toblerone. After I was finished walking, James borrowed my phone and walked, listening to his book.

I show Kim my handouts and she said she would help me put them together.

Up at 4:21. James had me put heat rub on his back and hands. He laid under the heating pad for about 15 minutes. This happens when his physical labors cause him to have to bend low to the ground. He is tying rebar at the Crane's pump house.

I am now walking my 10,000 steps again. I try to walk a 1,000 steps every hour from 6-6. Soon I should be able to get 12,000 steps in before James asks for my phone. 2,000 extra a day makes up for Sunday.

Recently Tom has been spending most of his time, both day and night, outside. He and Sammy have taken up residence in the two chairs outside our bedroom on the deck. I have the chairs covered with blankets.

Tom is looking at me with his eyes
closed. Silly kitty!

Harry shows up every morning for breakfast the last few days. Tom is a little wary of Harry. I think he wants Harry to know that he, Tom, is the boss and this is his territory.

I was going to make parmesan chicken for lunch but the cheese was old and moldy so I threw it away and made steak and green beans instead.

James came home to eat lunch then he went back to work a few more hours before coming home and getting ready to go to the valley.

He left for the valley with no voice and feeling miserable. He is testifying in court tomorrow for Darryl Johnson who is suing the first contractor he hired for his remodeling job.

James went to Taco Bell and ate a burrito supreme. When he called me his voice was perfectly normal. It's amazing how that works.

He delivered Ian's birthday card and took Dallin's card with him to Stacy's. I can't believe that Dallin is turning 30 on the 14th! Ian is going to be 53 and is retired. Time for him to do some family history and temple work!

James has to be at the Chandler City Court at 8 am. He did some walking around Stacy & Paul's neighborhood before going to bed.

I met my friend Sue Hubble at the temple this morning for the 9:30 session. I think this is the busiest session of the entire week. I only had to stop for about 5 minutes for road construction.

I love driving past Shumway valley. It is so beautiful and green, like a little oasis in an otherwise parched landscape.

The parking lot at the temple was very full. I parked further than normal so it took me longer to walk to the entrance. I made my way upstairs to the locker room. I always try to get either locker 7 or 8, 7 was closed but locker 8 was open. I put my things in locker 8 changing room and started to get undressed but decided I couldn't wait to go to the bathroom, I needed to go now. I left my stuff in the changing room thinking I would be back in less than five minutes, which I was. When I got back someone was in the changing room. I knocked and she said, "I will be out in a few minutes." I guess she had finished her session and was changing back in to her street clothes. I was a little stressed but what could I do?

When the sister came out of the changing room she had such a sweetness about her when she apologized I could not be upset. I told her it was okay and smiled at her.

Sister Miller, the temple matron, gave me my new name. She asked if I was from Woodruff. I told her no, I was from Vernon. I guess there is another place that Lambsons live, Woodruff.

As I stepped into the ordinance room I could see the sisters side was full and thought I would have to sit in back on the brothers side until I saw my friend Sue in the front row. She had saved me the front row corner seat. Thank goodness for Sue!

After the session Sue wasn't in the celestial room so I didn't even bother to sit down but went straight back to the locker room. We rode the elevator down with the mother of a sister in our ward. The sister in our ward is Colleen Kroeger. I used to teach Primary at the same time she did. She very seldom comes to church anymore.

Sue and I met at Eva's for chile rellenos with green sauce at Eva's. They are the best. Sue thanked me for the jewelery I gave Kaylynn for her baptism. She said it was a bracelet but I thought I gave her a necklace. Oh well.

We talked about family and Sue's upcoming trip to New Mexico to stay with her twin sister who is mentally handicapped so her other sister and her husband can go on a trip. Sue is quite political and a big Trump supporter so we talked a little about what is going on in California. I asked her if she knew who Charlie Kirk was and of course she did and she is a big fan. We gave each other a big hug when we said goodbye. I told her to let me know when she wants to go to the temple again.

It rained in Vernon again today. The grass looks so green after it rains a few days.

James worked at Crane's this afternoon and then went in to town. Since I had already "been to town" I stayed home.

I walked 10,000 steps again today.
