Phrase - "So, while we hold ourselves to the Lord's high standards, let's also be patient with one another. We are each a work in progress, and we all rely on the Savior for any progress we make. That's true for us as individuals, and its' true for the kingdom of God on earth."
Affirmation -"I am a child of God, and I belong. I am changing my heart to align with His as I strive to love, serve, and be unified with my brothers and sisters in the body of Christ."

Up at 3:30. Four conference talks and 4,000 steps before 5 a.m. I'm on a physical and spiritual high. Not only did I get up at 3:30 but I never stopped for a nap or a break. I watched Emily and Shima today on Inklings. They used Elder Uchtdorf's conference talk to discuss what it means to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

James worked at the Crane's and then came home and asked if we could go to town around 12:30. I was going to go later, but 12:30 is fine. We stopped at Alicia's and drop off her shakes. She gave me $40. I owe her $5.67. We stopped at Circle K and got gas for 40c off a gallon. James filled the car although it was only half empty.

James dropped me off at Walmart while he went to Home Depot. The amount of people on the roads and in the stores is insane! James joined me and picked up his Tramadol prescription.

Here are some things that I bought beside groceries: Two blue throw pillows for our bed, two picture frames for my two new pictures of the Savior.

James went back to Circle K and bought a drink so I could break the $20 I got to pay Alicia back. I only owe her $5. We stopped at the post office on the way home and picked up postage stamps I ordered, and the book, "Looking Unto Christ in Every Thought" by Dennis R. Deaton. This book was recommended by Tanna on an episode of Inklings.

We stopped at Alicia's and gave her $5. I still felt like I owed her some money, sixty-seven cents to be exact. I got one of my little purple drawstring bags, put sixty-seven cents in it, and put it in my Sunday bag so I can give it to her at church on Sunday.

James took a nap with Tom while I put the groceries away.

Up at 2:30 a.m. Prayer, study, walk, showered, prayer. We left around 6:45 for the valley going the Payson way. I showed James where the Nix's live. A beautiful home with a beautiful green lawn. He said he thought that was Brandon Perkins' house.

We listened to Peter Vidmar on "Follow Him." He is a former Olympian gold medal gymnast. I really enjoyed listening to him.

On the other side of Heber we had about a 15 minute stop for construction. We also had a potty stop in Payson. On to AARA, arriving around 10:21 for my 10:45 appointment with Dr. Kumar. After checking in I used the bathroom and as I was walking down the hall back to the waiting area, Frances saw me and called me back to the infusion center. Amanda started my infusion and soon after Julia came in to take me to a room to wait for Dr. Kumar. While I was in the room waiting the buzzer sounded on my infusion. I went back to the infusion center where they took the needle out. I said goodbye and went back to my room to wait for Dr. Kumar. She wanted me to get x-rays on my shoulder. I told her I couldn't do them today. I scheduled the x-rays right before my next infusion on July 30th. Bottom line is, I can't get cortisone shots every 4 months. That sounds like a plan to me.

While I was at the doctor's James went to Stacy's to take her some Tramadol. He returned just as I came out of the doctor's office. We drove across the street to Costco. We bought shakes for me, James, and Alicia Hunsaker. James got some Pom juice, we got protein bars and Tylenol.

After we were finished shopping we went across the street to Culver's for lunch. I had the strawberry fields salad with no blue cheese and James had his regular cod fillet sandwich.

We arrived at mom and Dawn's a little bit before one. We arrived about the same time as Terry, Cathi, and Wally. Wally is the cutest Yorkie and followed Cathi wherever she went. Mom loves him and even holds him and kisses him which is so out of character for her.

The hospice nurse, Jorge (Hor-hay), came a few minutes later. While Juan was talking to Lois and answering her questions, I was taking notes in my notebook at the island.

Lois showed me three more quilt tops she had finished. She makes the most beautiful quilt tops and she is 97 years old. When it was time to go I gathered my Culver's bag, I brought my unfinished salad in so it wouldn't wilt in the heat, and my purse/bag that Lois made ( I showed her I was using it, which I think made her feel good) and my shoes which I had taken off. We said our goodbyes and then left.

We were headed down the 60 almost to Power Rd. when I got a call from Cathi. I left my notebook. I told James, he said, "do you really need it?" and I say, "yes! my life is in there!" He turns around and we head back to Tempe where Cathi says she left the notebook. When we get there Dawn tells James she put the notebook in Cathi & Terry's truck. I call Cathi and she says, "Oh dear, yes, it is here."
"I will leave it in my mailbox so you can do a drive by."
James is a little frustrated but he doesn't say much as he heads for Chandler and we do a drive by at Cathi's mailbox. James said this put us about 45 minutes behind. I am sorry honey, but I need my notebook. It has all of my journal notes in it and I am trying to catch up on my journal.

We listened to James' book, "The Tides of Time" on the way home. We stopped at the McDonald's in Globe for a potty break. We had to make one construction stop and arrived home at 6:30.

The first thing I did at home was to let Tom in and give him his treat. He stays in for awhile because he wants to be with us.

The book I am reading right now is called, "Caught In the Middle."
I got my patriotic earring in the mail.

Notes from Lois's hospice nurse visit:
Continue breathing treatments. Blood pressure - Anything over 160 is dangerous. Re-check if it is high. Mom said she can't breathe good at night so she sits on the edge of her bed. She sleeps on her side, turning back and forth. She cannot breathe good when she is sleeping on her back. Nurse: Morphine relaxes the diaphragm.
Mom says she has a problem breathing and drinking at the same time. Mom's feet are swollen. Jorge said soaking them in Epsoms salt would help. She should also wear compression socks when she is walking around. Use a nebulizer at night. Re-check her blood pressure after waiting a few minutes before giving her more meds.

Up at 5:30. James left within the hour for Hipps' to spread gravel with his Cat. I told him he needed to be back in time for us to leave here to pick up the Tignor's at 11 for the temple. He made it home a little after 9. He took his shower and got ready to go and then went in to work on the Applegate plans. I finished what I was doing and went in to take my shower and get ready for the temple.

T-Bo and Barbara were outside waiting for us when we went to pick them up. Our trip to Snowflake was without incident. We arrived around noon for the 12:30 session. After scanning my recommend I asked one of the sisters how President Miller was doing. She said he was doing much better and that he would be back at the temple in a few days.

When I finished getting dressed and stepped out of locker #7, my friend Maxine Thompson was waiting for me in the aisle. She said: "I thought that was you." I'm not sure how, unless she peeked through the cracks. She had a stack of 25 male names and was wondering if James and T-Bo could do them. I told her sure and put them in my pocket. I spoke with James before the session started and he agreed that we could do them and he mentioned it to T-Bo who agreed. Barbara was all for it too. I also got a temple name from Maxine for Barbara to do.

During the session I noticed the sister I was sitting next to on one side was someone I recognized from high school. I asked her: "Are you Muriel Tenney. She said yes. I told her who I was and said I remembered her from high school. She said to me: "Good memory."
After the session I told her she had the best hair on "crazy hair day". She said she thought she should have had her picture in the yearbook and I agreed, but it didn't happen. She asked me if I was Rita Tenney's cousin and when I said yes she said she was too. Wow! I wonder how many cousins Rita had a Snowflake Union High School. Deanne Hunt, her sister and brother, were also Rita's cousins.

We all changed in to our street clothes and went down to the baptistry to do the confirmations. One of the temple workers helped and it only took us about 15 minutes for the guys to do 25 names.

The Tignor's didn't want to go to Eva's for lunch so we ended up at Arby's. We ran in to Maxine Thompson and Debra Martin there and Maxine thanked us again for doing the confirmations.

Barbara and I both got pulled pork sandwiches and ate the pork without the bun. Barbara did not like it and said it didn't taste like pork. I said it was fine. James got a gyro and it was meh. T-Bo said his Philly cheesesteak sandwich was very good although a little heavy on the bread.

T-Bo and Barbara are going to the Farmington, New Mexico temple open house on July 17th. James wants to go too but we won't be going with them. T-Bo lived there and has lots of friends he wants to visit. James' cousin Jeanie lives there and we would like to see her. The open house starts on the 17th and runs until August 2nd.

When we got home James left to go back to the Hipps' and work for awhile. I run off my lesson for next month, walk, and work on my blog.

I talked to Cathi today and told her we were coming down tomorrow and would like to visit Lois when the hospice nurse was there. Cathi said that would be great. She and Terry will be there too.
She and Terry have taken care of the problem regarding Mom's house. Mom has a living trust. They did a quit claim deed warranty under the umbrella of the trust. Cathi is Dawn's power of attorney and Terry is mom's. Dawn signed papers regarding the house staying in the family. She said it was the right thing to do. Heather will not get the house.

President Dallin H. Oaks

I had scriptures and prayer with James before I left for Alicia Hunsaker's. She asked me to be there at 7 am. I am going with her and her son Colter to take him to F.S.Y. at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Colter offers a prayer and off we go.

As we passed the Wigwam hotel in Holbrook Alicia said: "President Winkelman of the Show Low stake brought his grandkids here so they could say the slept in a wigwam." How sweet.

Out first stop was at a rest stop somewhere between Joseph City and Flagstaff on I-40. The stop was called Twin Arrows. It was very modern and clean and they had fun things to look at like Beanie Babies and artistic cigarette lighters. I told Alicia how I use to collect Beanie Babies and give them to my grandkids. We would have parties at my house on their birthdays. My favorite was "Snort" a little red bull that Dallin had. He called him "Snoit."

As we passed the Cholla power plant which is closed down Alicia said that Trump was going to open it up again. That would mean so much economically for this area.

We were about an hour early arriving at the N.A.U campus. We did some walking and then Alicia went in with Colter to register.
After he was registered Alicia went with him to McConnel Hall to find his room, meet his roommate, and get him all set up. I stayed outside and walked until my phone went dead. I forgot to bring "Clutch" with me. Clutch is my mobile charger.

The NAU campus is beautiful!

As I was waiting outside I saw Nathan and Brandon Crane from our ward and the Teserak family dropping Resten off. Resten and Colter are good friends so I'm sure knowing Resten is here will make Colter happy.

I got tired of sitting on the rock wall so I went up closer to the dorm and sat behind a table in a chair that was more comfortable than the rock wall. I ended up holding the door for heavy lade YM/YW and their parents.

I waited two hours for Alicia to return. She waited for Colter's roommate to arrive because she wanted to meet him. I guess he was a late comer.

Alicia and I left the campus in search of the local Hobby Lobby which is located at the Flagstaff mall. We had lunch at a modern Mexican restaurant called M.I. Tesoro. I ordered cheese enchiladas with red sauce. Out of the three enchiladas on the plate, I ate one. It was delicious so I asked for a doggie bag to take the other two home to eat. Alicia had shrimp tacos and she needed a doggie bag too.

On to Hobby Lobby. It was so fun to look at all of their fall decor. They are always one season ahead. The only thing I bought was some gum, and an egg cooker that was much cheaper than the one I have been looking at on Amazon.

It takes a little over two hours to get home. Both there and back Alicia and I talked and visited constantly. We got home a somewhere between 4:30 and 5. I took a short nap and was back on the road a little after six. I am going to Boone MacArthur's t-ball game. James was supposed to go too but he forgot and was still working.

There weather was great for a ball game. Chelsea & Jarred and Chelsea's mom, Mary Nix, had their chairs set up on the field behind the third base. One of them offered me their chair. The game was so fun and Boone was hilarious. I enjoyed visiting with Chelsea's Mom.

When I got home I finished my steps. James felt bad about missing the game. It was a busy and fun day for me.

I went to bed at 1 a.m. and was up at 6:13. I went over the lesson and then got ready to go.

James helped me to set up for my lesson. We always have to wait for ward council to get out of the room before we can setup. I want to ask them if they could meet in the elders quorum room on the 4th Sunday, I just haven't had a chance to do it yet.

I noticed during sacrament meeting that Sandra Wilhelm and the kids aren't here. They must be taking the long way back from Andy's wedding in Washington. Willy & Janna aren't here either. I wonder if they are still in Tennessee.

Doug & Cyndi Brown reported on their mission to China where they taught college students to use and speak English.

The youth speaker was Lacey Putz who used President Holland's talk, "As A Little Child" as a basis for her remarks.
Matthew 18:2-4
2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
D&C 110:12
Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers.
To be like a little child, love easily, forgive readily, be humble.

Cyndi Brown - China Teachers Program @ BYU. Started in 1989. Teach China students English. Cannot proselyte or mention the Church. They lived in Scion, a city of 13 million people, near the Terra-Cotta soldiers. (I have been there). Sister Brown was assigned to the topic in President Johnson's talk, "Spiritually Whole in Him."
Our lamps should be filled with the oil of conversion. The five wise virgins shared their light, not their oil. When we share our light we bring the relief of Jesus Christ to others. In China you cannot discuss religion or Heavenly Father, or Jesus Christ, but you can be a light."The Lord will use you for His purposes." Neal A. Maxwell.
The Lord will show you why you are here. Share your light. The college students give themselves American names. Here are some questions asked by some of the students. Brie - "I wonder what happens to people when they die." Will - "I wonder if there is a God." They felt the presence of the Holy Ghost but I could not tell them that. Ann - lonely and sad. I tried to encourage her. I was discouraged she didn't fulfill the assignment. Next week Ann participated in her group. As she left class she had a big smile on her face. I hope I remember her, she is important. God loves her.
Charity - "Can I give you a hug. I never had a teacher tell me I was good. Thank you." We taught over 700 students in 8 week increments. It is hard to say goodbye. I will always remember you. I love you. I hope I can be converted to Jesus Christ and let my light of conversion shine.

Doug Brown - "As a Little Child" *How do we become more childlike and humble. The Light of Christ is so very important.
The students we taught are from 22-24 years of age. They already have their Masters degrees. As we teach, cold hearts are melted. We could meet as a church but we are not recognized as a church. Bring the light of Christ. We bring them light and they bring us light. Mosiah 3:19 - For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
Story of Rex - long hair, leather jacket, smoker, he became my best friend. He was kind and considerate to others. We did an exercise in class called, "Lifeboat 10 People." There are 15 people on the lifeboat and the students have to determine who will die because only 10 can be saved. Rex chose a black American Christian minister. When I asked him why he said, "Because God will raise him."  * One girl looked like a Chinese princess. I thought she would be 'stuckup.' She interacted with some of the unkempt boys in class with grace, kindness, and patience. She would come up to me after class and say, "Thank you for teaching us today." * We shared family history stories. We had an assignment where they had to talk about the story of their grandparents. Many of their grandparents had made heart wrenching sacrifices which may have included starvation, deprivation, and great trials. They loved their grandparents, they had shared blood, and shared effort. "Love is the premium wealth of life." These are good people and they deserve good rewards. One girl said about her grandmother: "She didn't just survive the storm, she taught us to dance in the rain." Darkness disappears when you bring the light.
Here is a thank you note the Brown's received from one of the young women they taught. Here are some excerpts: "Cyndi, your gentle nature is like a ray of sunshine. Mr. Brown, you make our classes interesting. We gained knowledge, we experienced love and laughter in your classes."
The light of Christ makes us better teachers than we really are. Jesus Christ is our Savior.

We had a great discussion in Relief Society and I hope/think the sisters felt the Spirit. Mary Gilbert did her mother's temple work even though she did not get along with her mother who was antagonistic towards the Church. She also did some temple work for her ex-husbands family. She told us this when I asked what gifts they had given recently.

Winna Ulmer's daughter honored her on Facebook. Before my lesson this morning I prayed for Winna and for Shanna Penrod. Winna felt loved and supported by her daughter who gave her the gift of honoring her with love.

The main message of Elder Kearon's talk was our gifts from God. Jesus Christ and the knowledge that we are all "A Child of God."

I had the sisters open their gift boxes to find these two pins.

After the lesson was over I talked with Millie Scott, Kristine Hipps, Teresa Heine, Joyce & Ingrid and Catherine. I loaned my"Miss Suzy book to Catherine to read. I also spoke with Lily Flake, an 18 year old who has only been in Relief Society a few months. She was crocheting "little people." She has autism and Janna Grombach says she needs to keep her hands busy.

I talked to Sheri this afternoon and told her how amazing Evan's answers are on R.E.J., our scripture study feed. James went to the Crane's to deliver Kathy her "gift" box. He ended up talking with Chuck for quite some time. Chuck is planning a trip to California to visit his sister whose husband is dying. He also told James, "don't sell your house." He showed James where the elk had jumped their garden fence and eaten all of the corn stalks.

I have 4 gift boxes left. I'm going to give one to Lola, and the other three to the MacArthur kids

President Miller, our temple president has suffered a heart attack and is in the hospital.

T-Bo saved the day today by catching a fire in the motorhome cause by some faulty wiring. He had it all out before the firemen arrived.

Up at 5:13. Prayer first!

I added cayenne pepper to my pill intake on a daily basis. I am also no using the liquid form of magnesium citrate.

James went to the Tignor's this morning to give T-Bo a haircut at Barbara's request. She inspected it and said it was a good job.

He also went to the dump, pulled some weeds, and worked outside in the yard. He worked inside during the heat of the day, on the Applegate's plans, he worked at the Crane's and was busy all day.

I kept busy today too, studying the gospel, listening to conference talks and the Liahona and walking and listening to my book, "Time Traveler's Masquerade". I fixed pork chops and asparagus for lunch, cleaned the kitchen and put on a pot of beans. I blogged two days, June 9th & 10th, worked on my lesson and took a nap with Tom.

Our R.E.J. scripture group was asleep today except for Evan, and he gave the best answer. The reading was Alma 19:21-36 and the question was "What was your favorite part of today's reading?"
Here was Evan's answer:
"I really like what was said in verses 33-34, where it talks about the complete transformation of the people. This part stands out because it shows how deeply true conversion can permanently change people, not just emotionally, but spiritually. The Spirit completely changed their hearts, and they never went back to their old ways. It's inspiring to see how the gospel brought peace and unity even after so much fear and confusion earlier in the chapter."
Here was my answer to Evan:
"Evan, I love your insights! It is so true about how the Spirit can change people. That is what true conversion is all about and why everyone needs a chance to hear the gospel."

I gave James a haircut this evening before he took his shower. I am still working on my lesson and it is 10 p.m. Even though I listened to Elder Kearon's talk everyday this month, I did not take the time to write my lesson outline. My goal from now on is to be completely finished with my lesson outline the Sunday before my lesson is presented.

I just looked at my Watch Duty app and was shocked to see all of the fires in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. We must remember to pray for moisture!

D&C 66:2
Verily I say unto you, blessed are you for receiving mine everlasting covenant, even the fulness of my gospel, sent forth unto the children of men, that they might have life and be made partakers of the glories which are to be revealed in the last days, as it was written by the prophets and apostles in days of old.

"Daily repentance is the pathway to purity, and purity brings power."
