"What Is True?"
President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
We rejoice that more temples are being built across the world. With the dedication of each new temple, additional godly power comes into the world to strengthen us and counteracts the intensifying efforts of the adversary.

I've decided if I am going to get up at 4 o'clock, I need to go to bed by 9. I am very tired this morning.

I listened to a talk that Kacey recommended by Sheri Dew called, "Prophets Can See Around Corners." It was really good. I love my gospel study time!

Around 11 I went in to fix myself some lunch. James asked me to go to town with him. He guilted me in to going. We stopped at the post office and Sonic. Those were the only two stops that I had anything to do with. We were in the truck so James could pick up some pipe for Barbara B's job. He bought several large pipe from Central Arizona Plumbing. He forgot to get caps for the ends of the pipe so we stopped at Home Depot. They didn't have what he needed so we went across the street to Lowe's where he found everything he was looking for. Usually it's the other way around. A point for Lowe's.

We dropped the pipe off at Barbara's on the way home. She was outside talking to Brother Skousen who was doing something to help her. She came over to the truck to talk to us. She had some news.  Her son and his family are not coming. She has spent so much money for this home for them as a gift and now they are not coming. It is too rural here. They don't want to travel 25 miles to buy groceries. The mobile home cost her $175,000, plus all of the cost to have it installed. Barbara always cheerful and with an optimistic attitude says, "It's going to be my home now."

I went home and took a nap and then when I got up I worked on my budget, walked, and watched a new Christmas movie, "A Royal Christmas on Ice." It was okay, very predictable.

James had a productive day. Along with getting the pipes he needed for Barbara's job he fixed the log splitter and finished our rocket stove. He actually made a new one and drilled the hole in the dining room, leaving metal shards on the table and floor. I'm not complaining, just telling it like it is. I was grateful he finished the rocket stove. All we need now is some gravel and a grate for the top. I can get the gravel outside and will order a grate from Amazon.

The Wilhelm kids always sell pies to raise money for their wrestling programs. I hadn't received a call from any of them so I was wondering if they were selling this year. I was on Facebook where Sandra announced that orders needed to be in this week. I ordered four pies: triple berry, cherry, key lime, and pumpkin. Pumpkin is my favorite, key lime is for James, cherry is for Stacy, and triple berry is what I made for Sheri's birthday and it was so delicious I wanted to try it again.

This evening I watched "Dancing with the Stars." It was 90's night and they played hiphop/rap music and it was not to my liking. There was a double elimination. Heidi had the least amount of points/votes so she was eliminated first. Then it was between Vinnie and Trevor. Trevor got votes from Carrie Ann, Derek, and Bruno so Vinnie is going home...finally! He is always at the bottom of the leader board and he really is the worst dancer.

"This Day"
Elder Ronald A. Rasband
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Pressing upon me "this day" is the importance of renewing our commitment to the Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith called "the most correct of any book on earth."

Fasting is a commandment. (See D&C 88:76)

Up at 4:39. Roast on, scriptures and my prayer journal.
James threw me a curve ball by asking me to give him a haircut this morning. I also had to iron his shirt. These are not things I want to do on Sunday morning. I need to repent and do better.

It was 8:50 when we left for church. We got there just before it was time to start. Ruth Wallace gave me two more temple names to do. I still have two of Maxine's.
"How Firm a Foundation"
Invocation - Lindsay Shaw
Bishop conducted sacrament meeting. Alicia led the music and Pierce played the organ. I didn't see Pierce's wife today. I hope she is doing okay. Here are the people who bore their testimonies in our ward today:
Bishop Hunsaker - For the Strength of Youth is so inspirational! Expressed gratitude and the importance of prayer, scriptures, the sacrament and the temple
Lorraine Vaught - Thankful for the Lord's hand in all of the blessings she has in her life. Expressed her testimony of the power of prayer.
Rosie Lauritzen - She has been on a two year journey of daily scripture study. She has more peace in her life. This new habit has made such a difference! The words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.
Sister visitor - Loves the kindness she finds in this ward. Did I choose this time to be born? How can I be a strength and a help to others? The gospel gives me strength. The Atonement is a gift. Worried about her grandchildren.
Dagny Tesarek (child) She knows the Church is true and she knows that Heavenly Father loves all of us.
Jeanie Jameson - Grateful for the strength of this ward. Told the story of St. Patrick who was born in Scotland to a religious family. Kidnapped by pirates and sold as a slave in Ireland. He recited scriptures he learned in his youth and decided he wanted to devote his life to Jesus Christ. He made it home to Scotland to see his parents and then had a dream that he needed to go back to Ireland to spread the word of God. In Ireland he used a bonfire to teach about the fire of God within us. He taught about the true Christian God. When Patrick died, there was not one heathen left in Ireland.
Barbara Sayer - Joseph Smith is a prophet. We have a Mother and a Father in heaven who loves us. Christ is our older brother and Creator of many worlds.
Christy Bowen (child)
Sean Bowen - I know it's true.
"If You Could Hie Kolob"
Benediction - Alicia Hunsaker - prayed for the Beckham's and I found out later that their daughter Michelle has stage 4 cancer.

Sunday School. Daniel 1-6. "There Is No Other God." Brother Applegate titled the lesson, "God Is the Defender of My Rights."
Phrase: "But if not......"

Jace Applegate was home for a visit. I welcomed him and gave him a hug. He was supposed to go on a mission three years ago but he never went.

The Hipps's are now members of our ward. Sister Hipps is probably my age. She said she was tired of the heat and so looking forward to wearing sweaters.

When James and I got home we broke out fast. The roast wasn't quite done so we had pie instead. Each of us had two pieces. I layed down to take a nap. When I got up I had some roast and veggies. So did James. This is the roast the MacArthur's gave us. It was good but there was a little too much fat marbled through it. The fat had a funny flavor. The meat came from Chelsea's sister's ranch in Utah.

James went to visit the Peeler's this afternoon. He was going to visit the Snyder's but Cody was in Santan Valley. I guess he got a job down there and they will be leaving soon. I am going to miss them. His wife LeeAnn was one of my favorite Young Women.

I read Brother Corbitt's talk again and did some underlining. I wished Evan a happy birthday. I talked to Stacy and told her I would like to come down on Wednesday and go to the temple with her. She liked the idea.

I indexed Boston tax records, or I should say I reviewed them, for an hour this evening. They went quickly and I did over a hundred names. It made James happy.

I began listening to "Book of Mormon Central's" lesson on Hosea and Joel. It was very good and I look forward to finishing it tomorrow. No TV today.

Happy Sweet 16 Evan!

I absolutely love these pictures of Charlie!

"Let Doing Good Be Our Normal"
Elder Rafael E. Pino
Of the Seventy
We all have customs and traditions that are personal, from our family, or from the community in which we live, and we hope to keep all those that align with the principles of the gospel. Edifying customs and traditions are fundamental to our efforts to stay on the covenant path, and those that are an obstacle, we ought to reject.

"The Eternal Principle of Love"
Elder Hugo Montoya
Of the Seventy
The eternal principle of love is manifested by living the two great commandments: love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself.

I was up at 4:52 today. My goal is 4 a.m. James slept in until 7:30. He blames it on his neuropathy meds. He says they make him drowsy.

After scriptures, prayer and breakfast, James worked at the dining room table and I worked at my desk in the bedroom. I finished cleaning out the file cabinet in my upstairs office and James carried it downstairs into our bedroom.

Items look better in real life that
they do in this picture.

We had leftovers for lunch and then took a nap together. James got up from his nap and said he had to go to town to get some materials. He wanted me to go with him but I told him I wanted to do some painting this afternoon. I also walked, blogged, and made a cream cheese, Eagle Brand pie for tomorrow. I am trying to Fast but we haven't said our prayer yet and so I rationalized that we really hadn't started fasting yet. Why is it so hard for me. The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. One of the reasons I need to fast is so that my Spirit has more control over my body.

While I was painting I watched a Christmas movie: "Lights, Camera, Christmas." James came in and we read a chapter from our book while we walked and then we watched, "A Maple Valley Christmas" starring Andrew Walker, one of my favorites.

James said a prayer and our fast prayer. We are fasting for our adult grandchildren. Out of 14 adult grandchildren, only Autumn and Addy attend church. I also prayed for James's health, my self-discipline, and that Rowan, Joshua, and Evan would prepare for missions by reading the Book of Mormon and praying. I put five grandchildren's names on the temple today and will do five more each day until I have all of the adults and then the three boys, Joshua, Evan, and Rowan.
