"A Framework for Personal Revelation"
Elder Dale G. Renlund
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The scriptures form the first element of this framework for personal revelation. Feasting on the words of Christ, as found in the scriptures, stimulates personal revelation. Elder Robert D. Hales said: "When we want to speak to God, we pray. And when we want Him to speak to us, we search the scriptures."

Up at 5:11. Prayer journal. I then help James pack his lunch as he is waiting for Greg to come so they can go to Globe. I make him a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich. He also takes a couple of apples. Before James leaves I decide to send my mail with him. I was going to go to the post office today but there is so much snow on the roads this morning I decided against it. I sent Evan's birthday card, Quintana's title, and Trenda's baby gift card and card. Trenda has a baby shower tomorrow but I won't make it so I'm sending her gift in the mail.

I watched this week's episode of "The Great British Bakeoff."
This is pastry week. The Signature challenge was to make a dozen vol-au-vent pastries. Shabira's were the best. Maxy made hers square and they were very misshapen. She used to be my girl but she like to put her on spin on things and often that doesn't work out.
The Technical challenge was to make 8 spring rolls. Sandro won this challenge.
The Show Stopper challenge was to make a 3-D pie of their favorite childhood nursery rhyme. Again, Shabira won. Maxy has not had a good week and she was sent home. I was sad but felt like she deserved it. Those who are left, one girl, Shabira, three guys, Abdul, Janusz, and Sandro. I hope Shabira wins.

James called me when he arrived in Globe. He was e so excited about a talk he heard on CWIC Media by Brother Ahmad S. Corbitt, second counselor in the Young Men's General Presidency. This talk was given at a meeting of LDS Chaplains. The talk is called "Activism vs. Discipleship." I told James I was aware of the talk because I had seen it on the Church News app. I listened to the talk and I loved it so I made a written copy so I could study it. I sent out a message to our kids and their spouses and ask them to please read the talk. I think that Kacey and Jared are the only ones who did.

Today is Jared's 46th birthday. I hope he knows what a blessing he and Kacey and their family's are to our family. Jeanne Wallen's Facebook post today showed James Hayden visiting in Arizona. I texted her and asked what James's plans were. She said he is planning on moving to Philadelphia with his girlfriend as she has a job waiting for her there. I shared this news with James. Jeanne and I had a nice visit. She is a very likable, kind person. She told me she loves Jared and wishes all the very best for him.

I took advantage of the fact that James was gone today by sweeping, mopping, and polishing the kitchen and dining room floor. I also began cleaning out the upstairs filing cabinet I am planning on moving into our bedroom. James said he would move it for me tomorrow.

I watched "Teaching with Power" and drew the graphs Brother Wilcox made regarding three of the stories found in this week's "Come Follow Me" lesson about Daniel and his three friends. Brother Wilcox titled the stories: The King's Meat, The Fiery Furnace, and Daniel in the Lions Den. On the right side of each graph there were two question boxes. The first one was: What did they do? The second was How can we be like them? There were four graphs: The Pressure, The Reaction, The Threat, and The Results. Using the scriptures, each box for each story under each heading was filled in.
This is why I love to watch these videos. It gives me a visual summary of what were the important parts of the lesson and how I can apply them in my life. I recorded all of this in my Gospel Study notebook.

Around 3 p.m. I went into the kitchen and began preparing dinner. I turned the oven to 350 and prepared the last three potatoes that I have by washing them, scrubbing them, and coating them with butter and then wrapping them in aluminum foil. I stuck them in the oven and then prepared a meatloaf and stuck it in the oven. Dinner should be ready when James gets home. All I have to do is heat up some green beans. He got home after dark and we enjoyed a nice meal together. We also read a couple of chapters from our book as we walked.

I began studying lecture two of "Seeking Jesus" with John Hilton III.
I watched a new Christmas movie while walking, "The Magical Christmas Village" starring Allison Sweeney, Luke McFarlane, and Marlo Thomas. Marlo Thomas's mouth was a big distraction. She has had too much botox and her mouth reminded me of Howdy Doodie's. I did like the movie.

We watched this week's episode of "Alaska Daily" but decided we don't want to watch it anymore because they take the Lord's name in vain. I liked the characters and story lines but can't tolerate profanity.

"Seeing More of Jesus Christ in Our Lives"
Sister Tracy Y. Browning
Second Counselor in the Primary General Presidency
In our lives that are often filled with questions, worries, pressures, and opportunities, our Savior's love for us individually and as His covenant children and also His teachings and laws are available daily resources that we can depend on to be a "light which shineth, ... enlightening our eyes and quickening our understandings." As we seek for the blessings of the Spirit in our lives, we will be able to, as Jacob taught, see "things are they really are, and ... as they really will be."

5:00 I was up. I spent an hour with my prayer journal. At 7:00 this morning it started to snow and snowed most of the day. While working on my blog I listened to and took notes on "Teaching with Power" with Ben Wilcox.

I love living in Vernon because of the variety in weather and scenery. In August we have sunflowers, lantana, and green fields. Then fall and the leaves change color. Today the trees all look like they are frosted and they are so beautiful!

Our trip to town amidst a snow storm included: A Sonic run, Chase to deposit Barbara's checks for her because she was afraid to drive in the snow, James's doctor's appointment with Dr. Ellsworth regarding his thumb, my trip to Walmart, James's trip to Home Depot, a Goodwill drop-off, Desert Title to sign the Deming land over to the Quintana's, CVS for James's neuropathy prescription, and home again home again jiggity jig. Whew. Oh yes, we also stopped at the Vernon post office and there was a package for me sent from England. this is what it contained:

Along with this cup came a catalog of all of these other different kitchen accessories that I want: Cannisters, butter dish, cream and sugar containers. Maybe these could be my Christmas gifts from James?

The doctor gave James a steroid shot in his thumb. He said if it didn't help his thumb to feel better, he would probably have to have surgery.

When we got home, after putting the groceries away, I rested, blogged and walked as it continued to snow. James built me a fire.

I just can't get enough!

I had orange chicken and chow mein noddles for dinner. We also made a Panda stop while in town. James had an egg roll.

While walking I did a little cleaning in our bedroom. I cleaned up James's corner, moved my upright jewelry cabinet next to the bed as my night stand and made room for a file cabinet by the bathroom better. I put my former nightstand table by the recliners. It looks so much better over by the window on my side of the bed.

James and I walked and read before going to bed.

"Jesus Christ Is The Strength of Youth"
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
My dear young friends, if the Savior were here right now, what would He say to you?
I believe He would start by expressing His deep love for you. He might say it with words, but it would also flow so strongly - just from His presence - that it would be unmistakable, reaching deep into your heart, filling your whole soul!

Up early for my gospel study and prayer journal. At 7 I went into the kitchen for breakfast and to heat up the oven. I made three small pumpkin cakes. One is for Donna Peeler and the other two for us. I realize now I should have taken one to Barbara Klug but I was so stressed for time because we had an appointment at the Peeler's at 10 and I didn't want to be late.

I got a text from my friend Chelsea MacArthur this morning. Her two girls, Peyton and Scotlyn, were Bluey and Bingo for Halloween.
She simply said: How are you feeling? I wrote back: Much better! Thank you for asking. Could I get some eggs from you later today?
Chelsea: Of course we will get some in a carton for ya..do you guys have plenty of wood?? If you need some before this snow tomorrow we can get you some.
Me: Since James broke his leg, we don't have any cut. You are the best neighbors! His leg is pretty much healed but now he has a job starting so he is always busy!
Chelsea: You are kidding. Didn't know he broke his leg. Glad it's healing. We will bring a truck load of wood and some eggs over in a bit.

A little while later Jarred MacArthur rang our doorbell. He had a dozen eggs, and a roast for us to cook, and a truck load of wood. I tried to pay him $20 and he would not take it. It wasn't nearly enough but it was what I had. He went around to the back and began piling wood on our back porch. James came home and helped him and they had a nice visit. This is from someone who does not attend church but is always looking out for his neighbors. He has a good heart.
I wrote this text to Chelsea and told Jarred I would love to babysit for them whenever they needed it. He said they might take me up on that.
Me: Chelsea and Jarred:
Thank you so much for your kindness to us. We are so appreciative and grateful for your friendship!
Love, James & Karen Lambson

I finished Donna's cake and decorated it with some cream cheese frosting. I also made her a Luke 1:37 plaque, For with God nothing shall be impossible, some sweet apple scented hand soap, and a bouquet of daffodils card. It wasn't much but it brought tears to Donna's eyes. She told me I was the greatest and I told her I thought she was. We gave each other a hug. James got a hug too.

Donna said she was having lunch with her girls. I said, "Oh, who are your girls.?" She said, "Alicia and Stefani. Alicia is the bishop's wife and Stefani is her twin sister. They knew Donna and Owen when they all lived in Utah.

Back home for lunch. James and I fixed grilled cheese sandwiches and soup for lunch. Tasty and not to difficult to make. James goes back to work at Bartel's and I go take a nap.

I remember last year on November 2nd I made Donna a Texas sheetcake and I made a carrot cake for Cammy Grapp. I texted Cammy and wished her a happy birthday and she texted me back. I am glad I did it because it was nice to hear from her.

James picked up the half a box of apples we ordered from the Wilhelm's. There are a lot. I can't remember what kind but they are pretty tart. James likes them and I said they would be good for baking. He asked me to make some baked apples. I will, but who knows when.

I finished John Hilton III's book, "Considering the Cross." I also started his course "Seeking Jesus" and listened to the first lecture. There are 28. I also listened to "Original Grace" while walking.
I downloaded "Believing Christ" by Stephen Robinson at the recommendation of Brother Adam Miller who wrote "Original Grace." I've read it before but will read it again.
