"We Can Do Hard Things through Him"
Elder Isaac K. Morrison
Of the Seventy
We grow in our discipleship when we exercise faith in the Lord during difficult times.

My hand and knee are both better. Yahoo! There is hope for me!

James and I went to town this afternoon. He spent the morning working at Barbara Bartels. We mailed our voting ballots, James's residential license renewal, and Jared's birthday card. We "apped" in a Sonic order and listened to our new N.C. Allen book, "To Capture His Heart." I found this book in a picture that Emily Belle Freeman posted. We realized after starting this book that we read the previous book, "The Matchmaker's Lonely Heart."

When we get home James works outside on the Starlink cord, hiding it as it comes into the house from the satellite outside. We both worked in the kitchen making chicken tacos and cleaning out the frig. James wants onions in the tacos so I asked him to chop the onions and add them to the chicken and green chili mixture. After we were finished making tacos we each had some to eat. They are delicious!

Tonight is the Vernon Halloween Party, planned by our ward member Michelle Tesarek. We saw the luminares set up in the downtown area. It's quite a big deal. Trick-or-Treating, chili cook-off, costume parade and prizes. I think people of all ages enjoy this annual party and I am grateful to Michelle for being in charge. She had a Go-Fund-Me account on Facebook which I donated to.

After eating James comes in to the bedroom with me and we watch the newest GAC Christmas movie, "Catering Christmas" starring Daniel Lissing and our show, "Alaska Daily."

My favorite in Snowflake, Arizona

I used to take the boys shopping for their birthdays and we
would inevitably wind up at the Lego Store at the
Chandler Mall.

My favorite glass, I had two of them.

Now I have one.

"Nourishing and Bearing Your Testimony"
Elder Gary E. Stevenson
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
I invite you to seek opportunities to bear your testimony in word and in deed.

While James was out working at Barbara Bartels I watched this week's episode of "The Great British Bake Off." One of my favorite people, James, the last Scott, went home. He wasn't the best baker but I loved his accent and his personality. I think he was probably the only male baker who is not gay.

I watched a Netflix Christmas movie that was subpar to my standards. I had to skip through some parts and won't ever watch it again. It was called "California Christmas" and had a good story, but too much bad language and inappropriate behavior.

James is hauling dirt from Barbara's using Pierce's equipment. Thank you Pierce. James is having a hard time getting his Cat fixed. He put in the new parts but it still won't run.

My knee is better but my hand still looks like the Hulk's, except it's not green. Because my knee is better, I slept in my own bed tonight.

James says we may owe Armando another $5,000. I certainly hope not. I did some more digging and found that James wrote two checks for $2,500 each that he did not record in the checkbook which accounts for the missing $5,000. What a relief.

Stacy called this afternoon and wanted to know what we are doing for Thanksgiving. I told her we were staying home and that Kim and Brian are coming up. She said they may come up. She said since we have goo internet Paul can work at our house. Everything is still up in the air and she is going to get back to me.

We got a text from Adam saying that Kit has Covid and is in Chandler Regional Medical Center. This is dangerous because of the blood disease he has. He is waiting for blood. The doctors took took long to give him blood, so he is having a hard time making his own now. He's been given blood twice. No visitors allowed because of the Covid. Everyone is praying for him.

James saddled up Luna and rode her today to chase the cows out. It was dark and most of them didn't leave and James hurt his knee.

Before going to bed I watched "A Cozy Christmas Inn" starring Jodi Sweetin.

"The Virtue of the Word"
Elder Mark D. Eddy
Of the Seventy
There is virtue in the words of ancient and modern prophets precisely because their words are the Lord's words.

As I was sitting on my bedroom recliner resting my knee, I noticed my left hand in the lower palm area began itching and starting to swell just a little. The itch stopped in my left hand and was transferred to my right hand. Let the swelling begin, and it certainly did. So far I've had my face, my right foot, my left foot, and my left hand swell. Now it is my right hand. It swelled so tightly that I could not bend my fingers.

Hand is bigger than it looks.

Now I'm not only confined to a recliner with my foot up, but I can't work on my prayer journal or my blog journal because I cannot type or write. Christmas movies it is. I'm glad I had a days worth of Christmas movies DVR'd. ( Is that a word?)

James checked in on me via the phone and when he came home for lunch. He keeps saying ER but I can't hear him.

I took the time for a couple of other things besides Christmas movies today. I listened to my Hillsdale lecture in the course "American Citizenship And Its Decline." After I finish the course, which is 8 lectures long, there are a series of quiz's to take. I think I will need to go back and review my notes and the lecture notes.

I also listened to Inklings with Emily, Morgan Jones Pearson, and one other sister who took care of her husband for four years who was bedridden and had ALS.

James was very loving and kind. He fixed my lunch and dinner and was very understanding when I told him I wanted to sleep on the recliner again. I am very grateful for my sweet husband.
