President Henry B. Eyring
Second Counselor in the First Presidency
You may feel small compared to the great sweep of what the Lord will do. If you do, I invite you to ask prayerfully how the Lord sees you. He knows you personally, He conferred the priesthood upon you, and your rising up and magnifying the priesthood matter to Him because He loves you and He trusts you to bless people He loves in His name. I bless you now to be able to feel HIs love and HIs trust.

The Family Proclamation
#2
All human beings-male and female-are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.

Inklings
Learning, understanding, and living gospel principles strengthen our faith in the Savior, deepen our devotion to Him, and invite a multitude of blessings and spiritual gifts into our lives. Principles of righteousness also help us to look beyond our personal preferences and self-centered desires by providing the precious perspective of eternal truth as we navigate the different circumstances, challenges, decisions, and experiences of mortality.

Up at 6:38....what happened? I had a protein shake and a Built bar for breakfast and then had scriptures and prayer by myself and with James. Today we read D&C 104:1-46. This was a revelation concerning the United Firm which was changed to the United Order. Starting in verse 20 it tells what the member's properties were in the Order. Sidney Rigdon was first, then Martin Harris, Frederick G. Williams, Oliver Cowdery, and Newel K. Whitney. After each one of these brethren and their inheritances there is a statement which says, "and his seed after him." The last member mentioned is Joseph Smith, Jun., and here is where the wording is changed. Verse 44 states: "And this is the beginning of the stewardship which I have appointed unto him, for a blessing upon him, and upon his father. It says nothing about his seed after him. I just wonder if that is significant. It does say this in verse 46 so many I'm being a little nit picky: 46-"And I will multiply blessings upon the house of my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., inasmuch as he is faithful, even a multiplicity of blessings.

I asked James if he would go pick up the mail this morning because it had not been picked up all week. Instead of the usual reaction of agreeing to go, he seemed very stressed about me asking him to do this. I think he's just got his job and this weekends family activity on his mind. If I go I have to get dressed, and do my hair and makeup, which I did.
About this time I guess James was feeling a little guilty. He knocked on the bathroom door and asked if we could both go and listen to our book. I told him that wasn't necessary, I was already going and I didn't want to keep him from whatever he was doing.

Our small post office box was stuffed clear full of letters and James's magazines. He didn't know he was ordering so many magazines and most of them he doesn't even read, just throws them away. I also had a yellow card which means a packaged behind the counter, and a key to a locker. We haven't had this much mail since I had the book business. A medium package behind the counter, Lois's birthday gift, and a large box from Amazon with various items inside, plus several plastic envelopes from Amazon with a heart seal, pencil leads, and pen refills. In the large box was the tiered cake pans I ordered, and some notebooks. I also got my mascara and eyebrow pencil from Thrive Causemetics. One of the other things in the big box was a little stuffed horsey for Malea's 1st birthday.

It took me awhile to put everything away. Afterwards I visited with Kim while she did the balloon puzzle. We talked about "Come Follow Me" and how much we love Brother Halverson. James got into the conversation and we talked about masks and vaccines. Meanwhile Brian is in the kitchen making chili and non-gluten corn muffins because Kim is gluten-free. The chili was very good although there was no tomato. Kim cutup some veggies and put them in little baggies, radishes, cucumbers, carrots, bell pepper, and grape tomatoes. Of course the tomatoes did not need to be cut up. I need to do this because it's the only way I'm going to get all of the veggies that I need. Brian and Kim asked us what we wanted to eat before they got here. They said they wanted to feed us while they were here. They also brought James a bottle of Xango which I didn't know that they still made. I guess Isogenix is the distributor now. They also brought a huge package of Charmin toilet paper, the size you buy at Costco. Wow! They can come and visit whenever they want!

I started to clean upstairs but the vacuum is so loud and everyone was taking a nap, Kim was in the family room so I decided to wait. I think I was maybe just procrastinating cleaning. Also, Brian has been suffering with a migraine headache and probably was looking for some peace and quiet when he came up here. I went in and worked on my blog while listening to Emily and Rio on the weekly Inklings broadcast. It was based on Elder Bednar's conference talk, "The Principles of My Gospel." Rio does the discussion on this talk and then Emily discusses some scriptures she feels go along with the topic for the month, which is to Learn about the Savior's Mercy, Love and Power. We also discussed Mark 7:31, Mark 8:22 and D&C 123. Here are just a couple of notes I took:
Why do we live in a world of distraction and what can we do to be "tethered" to the Divine? Sometimes Jesus heals in stages. Power does not necessarily lie in the act of doing, but the desire behind it.
How we hallow the Sabbath is a sign to Heavenly Father as to how much we love him. 2015 Elder Uchtdorf, "On Being Genuine." Another thing Emily spoke about was the importance of teaching the rising generation. She stressed the importance of three things; Jesus's love, Jesus' law, and Priesthood authority. Our youth need to know how to discern truth from darkness. They need to look to the Lord for direction, not social media influencers.

Jared sent a video of Charlie running around with some toys in a shoe and saying something. I could not understand what she was saying so I took it out on the porch where Kim was listening to Brother Halverson and asked if she knew what Charlie was saying. Kim listened and said, it sounds like she is saying, "Here comes Gunny Bag." That was it! I asked Kim how she knew and she said, "Because I lived it." When the kids were young the kids had a problem with putting their things away. I got the idea from something that I read. There was a song to go with it. "Here comes Gunny bag, Gunny is hungry and is looking for something yummy."
I got a large bag, drew a face on it, and when the kids, after being warned, left their toys or belongings out they would mysteriously disappear. They could retrieve their belongings on Saturday for a quarter. It they didn't want to pay they knew there things would probably go to D.I.

Jared told Kacey about it and she tried it on Charlie. Jared said it works and Charlie loves the game. One day she couldn't find her shoe and she said, "Gunny ate it."

Family Proclamation
#1
We, The First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children,

Inklings
A gospel principle is a doctrinally based guideline for the righteous exercise of moral agency.
For example, the first three Articles of Faith identify fundamental aspects of the doctrine of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ: the nature of the Godhead in the first article of faith, the effects of the Fall of Adam and Eve in the second article of faith, and the blessings made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ in the third article of faith. And the fourth article of faith sets forth the first principles - the guidelines of exercising faith in Jesus Christ and repenting - and the first priesthood ordinances that enable the Atonement of Jesus Christ to be efficacious in our lives.

Woke up at 5:19 and got up at 5:40. As I was studying "Come Follow Me" I listened to Dave and Emily. They were talking about Zion's Camp. George Q. Cannon was a 7 year old boy in Zion's Camp. One day he was sitting with his head down feeling sad about the situation and the sadness of the saints in Jackson county. The Prophet Joseph Smith, the busiest man in the camp was walking by and saw George. He could tell something was wrong and in spite of how busy he was he took the time to talk to him and encourage. He told him that he was an important part of the company and he was grateful for him and would find a specific job for him.

I love this example of caring for the one. Joseph Smith was such an example of love and caring for others.

The parable in 101:43, The Parable of the Nobleman and the Olive Trees, is about building the temple. These people had been in Missouri for two years and had not started a temple. The Lord says this parable is concerning the redemption of Zion. The nobleman tells his servants to plant twelve olive trees. Watchmen we set round about them, and build a tower, that one may overlook the land round about, to be a watchman upon the tower, that mine olive trees may not be broken down when the enemy shall come to spoil and take upon themselves the fruit of my vineyard.(vs. 45)
In 46 the servants of the nobleman went and did as their lord commanded them, and planted the olive trees, and built a hedge round about, and set watchmen, and began to build a tower. The servants began asking themselves why their master needed a tower. It was a time of peace. They thought the money could be used for something else. They became very slothful and hearkened not unto the commandments of their lord. The enemy came by night, and broke down the hedge; and the servants of the nobleman arose and were affrighted, and fled; and the enemy destroyed their works, and broke down the olive trees. The olive trees represent the fruits of Zion. The nobleman asked his servants what was the cause of this great evil? Shouldn't you have built the tower (temple)? The watchmen would have seen the enemy afar off. The lord asks the servants to gather warriors (Zions Camp) and break down the walls of mine enemies; throw down their tower, and scatter their watchmen. If they gather together against you, avenge me of mine enemies, that by and by I may come with the residue of mine house and possess the land. The lord/Lord chose a specific servant to lead the way in redeeming the vineyard, Joseph Smith.

I wonder if the saints had immediately began building a temple as soon as the Lord had commanded it if things would have been different for them in Jackson county.

I paid bills this morning. I also started a new book, "Saving Lucie Cole." Here is a brief review of the book:
Southern Utah, 1903
Despite the scorching heat of the long carriage ride from St. George to Salt Lake City, nothing can dim Lucie's joy - she's bound for her wedding. The only shadow over her anticipation is the inexplicable feeling she's sensed for weeks: the impression that she's being watched....
Young Ladies general board member Ruth May Fox is eager to return home after a lengthy trip to the outlying towns of Southern Utah. She's cherished the opportunity to touch the lives of the young women, but after several weeks of travel, she's prepared to enjoy an uneventful journey home in the company of a young bride-to-be. Her peace is short-lived, however. Not long into their journey, the arrival of a threatening stranger spells disaster for the traveling party. He wants Lucie Cole as his bride, and he'll stop at nothing to get her.
Determined to help her new young friend, Ruth embarks on a perilous adventure that will take her deep into the bleak desert. And as danger threatens on all sides, her rescue mission may prove far more deadly than she could have dreamed....

I'm not sure if this is a true story but I am certain that Ruth May Fox is a figure from Church history who later became president of the General Young Women's Organization.

I started walking this morning and before noon I had 5,000 steps. By the end of the day I had over 12,500 steps, more than I have had for a very long time.

I ordered the Chipmunk family Calico Critters for Emsley today. I will take them to her next week along with Malea's stuffed horse and whatever I get for Liana's birthday. I also need to get Emsley a baptism gift and also a baptism gift for Eden, Christina's oldest daughter.

I brought both checkbooks up to date and paid tithing and fast offerings. I studied "Come Follow Me" about three hours this morning and listened to Act in Doctrine and Don't Miss This. I also finished Brother Halverson's Come Follow Me.

This afternoon I worked on my blog. I finished both Monday's and Tuesday's posts. Kim texted me and said they were coming up the evening so I went downstairs and put the sheets on the bed. James got home around 6:20, tired and sore. Kim and Brian didn't get here until about 8:30. They brought spiced pumpkin donuts both from Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme. I had to take a taste of both.

We watched an episode of "The Great British Baking Show" before going to bed.

We bear testimony, as His duly ordained  Apostles - that Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great Kin Immanuel, who stands today on the right hand of His Father. "Let no man count them as small things"
-D&C 123:15

Up at 5:25. After prayer and some scripture study, I got ready to go to the valley for my infusion. I left a little after 7. My appointment is at 11. I stopped at the Circle K in Star Valley for a potty break. I arrived early, around 10:40 at the AARA. I called James to let him know that I arrived safely.

I went inside with my mask on and checked in. Five minutes later and Frances called my name and I went back to weigh-in and then the infusion center. My blood pressure was high and I'm not sure why. I took my medication this morning. Frances and Ang are regulars but the phlebotomist was new. She did ok. Frances got me a new schedule for the next three months. I don't see the doctor until December which is quite a long time since I missed my last appointment. I am supposed to see her every three months.

I called James when I got back to the car. We decided not to meet for lunch because he is so busy and so far away. I told him I was going across the street to Costco to see if they have the berry syrup that Cammy wants and then I was going home. Here is the photo she sent me:

I could not find this syrup and this makes me sad because I wanted to try it for myself as well as get a couple for Cammy. A woman was giving away samples of Kodiak cakes and I asked her if she had seen this syrup. She said she had not seen it recently and suggested I ask at the service desk up front if they had it. I knew they didn't and I couldn't find the service desk.

I did buy a few items for myself. A beautiful white fluffy blanket, a set of plastice ware, some Christmas wrapping ribbon, and both types of olives. James loves olives.

I got some lunch at the food counter and went outside to my car, which I parked in the shade and ate lunch. After lunch I was ready to head north on Country Club for Payson.

I had a hard time staying awake and kept drinking my drink from Costco which was half diet Pepsi and half regular Pepsi. I also listened to my book, "The House on the Hill." This morning I listened to most of "Unshaken Saints." I stopped at the Speedway gas station in Payson for gas and a potty stop. I'm still exhausted but I just keep moving. I got home at 5 p.m. James told me not to feed Luna, so I didn't. He thought he was going to come home this evening but he decided to stay to meet with the roofers tomorrow. Poor Luna. I will feed her in the morning, the chubby little horsey.

I watched the finale of 2016 Great British Baking Show. Nadiya, my girl, wins! She is from Bangladesh and I just loved her because she was humble yet she never gave up. Her little girl said: "Mon's never been a winner before has she." Nadiya made a fondant out of marshmallow that Mary and Paul loved. She made a wedding cake because she said she never had one at her wedding. That was for the last showstopper challenge.

I blogged for Sunday before dropping onto the recliner, exhausted.

What sign to I want to Give to God?

I studied "Come Follow Me" and indexed all before 8 a. m. James left at 4 a.m. and I said a prayer with him before he left.

I got up a little after 5, not feeling very well. Today is my mom's birthday. She would have been 91 today. In honor of her birthday I made a birthday cake for my friend Tamara whose birthday is today. I also made a cake for my neighbor Chelsea whose birthday is tomorrow, but I will be gone tomorrow. I'm Chelsea's ministering sister.

I got off to a slow start this morning because I was not feeling well and my left knee is swollen and hurt. I "hunkered" down in the recliner in my room and after eating something I took some Tramadol. I watched some of the 2016 Great British Baking Show and then took a nap. When I woke up, I felt much better.

I started baking around 11. I'm using 3 of my 6" round cake pans. I decided to use a German chocolate cake mix for Tamara. The cake stuck to the side of the pan even though I greased it which left a gash in the side of two of the layers. I frosted it with the homemade frosting for a Texas sheetcake. It looked terrible so I decided to cover the entire thing with a coconut pecan dressing which is normally used for a German chocolate cake. It didn't look bad. I should have taken a picture.

I delivered Tamara's cake to the library where she works as the town librarian. Another member of our ward was in the library, Sister Tesarek. She asked what I was doing as I brought in the cake in a box and carried a gift bag. I told her it was Tamara's birthday. She wanted to take a picture of the cake and then insisted we sing Happy Birthday, which we did. Tamara was so happy to have a cake. She said her husband, Jimmy, was gone and she was expecting any kind of celebration. I was worried about how the cake would taste with two frostings. She texted me later and said it was delicious. She opened her gift and said she loved that particular fragrance of lotion and body wash.

I went home and frosted Chelsea's cake, a strawberry cake with strawberry frosting. I also made some baby cakes for her two girls, Peyton and Scotlyn who are 5 and 2. When I got to her house, her two girls came out to meet me. Peyton helped me carry in the baby cakes. Scotlyn came out bare footed on the cinders and stickers. She got some dry straw stuck in her foot but she never complained, she just brushed them out. Brutus, their St. Bernard, came over to say hello but never bothered us after that. I love him. He is the nicest big dog. Scotlyn and Peyton each ate one of the baby cakes I made. Chelsea tried to put the rest of them up but Scotlyn found them. After she was finished eating she came over and gave me a hug. When I left she said, "goodbye neighbor."
Chelsea said her husband is fighting the fire at Lake Tahoe and won't be back for a few days. I also took her a gift. I haven't seen Chelsea for a few months and she is pregnant with her due date in early December. This time it's a boy. I was so glad I went, even though when I started out this morning I almost backed down. I got this text from Chelsea: LOVE my gift. You made my birthday very special, thanks so much!!

I texted Ben today and told him to check at the post office for his Built bars. Later he texted me and said, "Apparently we may have a second mailbox that has it in it. We're checking now. They were!!
Ben said this text: "The Built bars are great!!! Thank you so much!

The Snyder's, Cody and LeeAnn were the speakers in sacrament meeting today. LeeAnn spoke on a talk given by Rosemary Wixom in 2016, "The Divine Nature Within You." Every breath we take, we strive to follow Him. How can I develop the divine nature within me? God knows our potential. The divine nature within us ignites our desire to reach out to others and prompts us to act and serve.

Colter, LeeAnn's little brother, was the youth speaker. He talked about things that make us happy. Good music, the Outdoors, Sleep, Prayer, Family and Friends, Healthy eating, and Scripture Study.

Cody was the last speaker. He spoke on a talk given by President Monson, "Be an Example and a Light." Let your light so shine...
Be thou an example of the believers. Don't take the name of the Lord in vain. Stay out of the gutter with your language. Charity is the pure love of Christ. Strive to have the Spirit with you through kindness, gratitude, and goodwill. John 15:12-13. Faith and doubt cannot exist at the same time. Search diligently, pray always, be believing, and all things shall work together for your good. Be Pure - In order to have the Holy Ghost we must  be pure in thought and deed. Psalm 27 - The Lord is my light... Jesus Christ is our greatest example of love and hope. He is our light and example. He lived a perfect life, developing all of the divine attributes. Let us develop the light within us to shine for others.

I took Ginger a set of paperback scriptures to have and she was so grateful. She sent me this text: I just wanted to say Thank you again soo much for bringing me the set of books today to church!! I have been looing and reading from them all afternoon and I can tell they will really help me out in my studies as I draw closer and learn about our Savior. I appreciate you soo much Karen! I absolutely love them! Thank you for your sweet kindness of thinking about me! Love you, Ginger.

Ginger is one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met.

When I got home from church today I was looking at Facebook and saw that Kendall Thomas passed away. He was a member of our ward when James was the bishop. My heart goes out to his wife Kristy and his children. I believe he had Covid or pneumonia as a result of Covid.

James has more aches and pains because of working this week.  He laid down to take a nap as soon as we got home.

We both did some indexing and I did some blogging. We did not have our "Come Follow Me" group meeting because Barbara was afraid of Covid and it was scheduled to be at her house.

James made me some delicious freshly squeezed orange juice today.  We also ate leftover rolls, cake, salad, and hotdogs.

Tamara, Linda D., Kerri, and I are concerned about Barbara S. living alone. Tamara is going to see if hospice can help out.

Who is bishop going to call as our RS teacher. We have asked for a certain sister and he said she didn't return his calls but now he is saying he is considering her for another position. He needs to pray about it first. Tamara and I decided on a second choice, just in case.

By the way, Rosie L. did a great job teaching Relief Society today. She is a retired school teacher and knows how to get the sisters involved.

I love the Sabbath day. I love partaking of the sacrament, seeing my friends, and having gospel discussions. I love having James home all day and how relaxed he is on the Sabbath.
