'Recommended to the Lord'
Elder Ronald A. Rasband
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
On the outside of every temple in the Church are the fitting words "Holiness to the Lord." The temple is the Lord's house and a sanctuary from the world. His Spirit envelops those who worship within those sacred walls. He sets the standards by which we enter as His guests.

Restoration Proclamation
P4 S3
Three of the original twelve Apostles - Peter, James, and John - restored the apostleship and keys of priesthood authority.

James finished cutting and sealing all of his elk meat today. Now he just needs to clean up.

After a lunch of crab cakes for James and leftovers for me we went to town to send some money to Armondo so his guys could do some outside work at the houses that needs to be done before the final inspection. I read from "Pumpkin Roll" which is our latest "whodunit" by Josi Kilpack.

When we got to Walmart I went off to do some shopping while James went over to money services. Before I even had a chance to put anything into my basket James called me and said he needed my help. It seems he had no proof of our physical address on any of his ID. I got out my drivers license and showed the woman behind the counter. Check. Next he needed a debit card to transfer the money. He doesn't have one so we used mine. Check. Transfer is done and Armondo can pick up the money at the Walmart in Chandler. I'm certainly glad I came with James on this trip!

James started his fast this afternoon, I started mine after a steak, green beans, and some toast. We are fasting for Sister JoAnn Patrick. A sister in our ward who needs major heart surgery and can't seem to get it scheduled. Her husband reported to James that she is not doing well.

This evening's movie with James was the 2020 version of "Christmas in Evergreen." It's called "Christmas in Evergreen:Bells." James was not a fan. We loved last years with Maggie Lawson and Paul Greene and the year before with Jill Wagner. I also liked the original in 2017 with Ashley Williams. I love the red pickup truck.

Sister Wilson has returned from Italy!

'Hearts Knit in Righteousness and Unity'
Elder Quentin L. Cook
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Unity is a broad, comprehensive term but most certainly exemplifies the first and second great commandments to love God and love our fellowmen. It denotes a Zion people whose hearts and minds are "knit together in unity."
With respect to unity, 4 Nephi read, "There was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people."

Restoration Proclamation
P4 S2
The resurrected John the Baptist restored the authority to baptize by immersion for the remission of sins.

James and I went to town this morning to rotate the tires and change the oil in my car. A reminder came on yesterday and every time I get in the car I see that I need to change the oil and rotate the tires.
James drove his truck and I drove the car. We left the car at Discount Tire and then James dropped me off at Dollar Tree while he went to Home Depot to return some things. He also got gas and washed his truck.

While at Dollar Tree I saw my new friend Ginger and the ten year old boy who is living with her, Gavin. They were shopping for Gavin's 16 year old brother Seth. Today is his birthday. As I saw them together my heart was warmed by the fact that Ginger has opened her home to Gavin, his brother, and their father. Her home is tiny but she is willing to share with those less fortunate than she is. She truly is a wonderful person.

My main purpose for coming to Dollar Tree was to buy gift bags and gifts for the Relief Society sisters in our ward. I found the right size of gift bags in the front of the store and was lucky to find 74 of them, the number of bags we decided to make based on the 74 jars of lemon hand scrub we have leftover from a March activity that never happened. I also bought 5-16 page of tissue paper of various Christmas patterns to put in the top of the bags. Next I went to find small bottles or tubes of lotion and bought 74 of them. I tried to find Christmas tea towels. They had pot holders but no tea towels, and then I thought of fuzzy socks. I bought 74 pair of fuzzy socks and by then my basket was full. I checked out and the total came to $188. The woman checking me out said it was her biggest order of the day so far. James was outside waiting for me and helped load all of my bags into the back seat of his truck. We got salads at Wendy's and then headed back to Discount Tire where the car was ready to go. James drove the car down to Jiffy Lube and got in line. I waited in the truck. I read to James while he finished his salad.

It is such a relief to have my car taken care of and I am so grateful to James for coming with me, even though he had a dozen other things he could have been doing. He finds way to serve me everyday.

When we got home it was rest time and movie watching time. Afterwards I got a book ready to mail and Paul's birthday card and went to the post office. I think the mail was already picked up so I hope Paul's card gets to him on his birthday, which is Monday.

I made beanless chili and freshly steamed broccoli for dinner.

Trina called me today. She said Addy felt bad about the post she did about her grandpa Case being so Christlike. She said all of her grandparents are a good example to her and she was afraid we would feel bad. When Rowan heard her talking about this he said, "Grandma Lambson is the nicest person I know. There is no way she is going to get upset about this." I am grateful for such a sweet grandson.

I got a message from a sister I used to visit teach a few years ago before she moved to Deming, New Mexico. She lived way out on a ranch and it was a 60 mile round trip to visit her. This was the message she sent:
Sister Lambson, everyone needs to be more like you. You came to visit me every month and never judged me and went out of your way to be my friend. I will always remember you and be grateful you were my visiting teacher.

I loved Hailey and her three children. Braylin, her oldest, was handicapped but was one of the brightest and happiest kids I ever met. He was in my Primary class. Taylor, her oldest daughter, was such a hard worker and loved helping her dad on the ranch and raising animals for 4H along with Braylin. The littlest girl, Huntleigh, was always there for our visits and I got to know her pretty well too. It was my pleasure to be Hailey's visiting teacher.

James and I watched  "Christmas Pen Pals" starring Sarah Drew and Niall Mater. It was good. Sarah Drew reminds me of Liz Bush Kelly.

There is a core ... trait that we all have to get ... better at, and that is the trait of seeing each other deeply and being deeply seen.
Even in our busy lives, we can follow the example of Jesus and see individuals - their needs, their faith, their struggle, and who they can become.
"What am I doing that I should stop doing?" and "What am I not doing that I should start doing?"

Restoration Proclamation
P4 S1
We affirm that under the direction of the Father and the Son, heavenly messengers came to instruct Joseph and re-establish the Church of Jesus Christ.

Listened to Scripture Gems as part of my "Come Follow Me" study.
Kim sent this message to us as part of the #LightTheWorld campaign:
"I wanted to let you both know how much I love you and appreciate you. Yesterday's Light the World calendar is "Hero Highlight." And while I am not doing it on social media, I do want to highlight the fact that you both are my hero highlight - you both represent Christlike love to me!
Thank you for loving me, for being amazing parents, for teaching me, for taking me to church, for family home evenings, family councils, and for setting the example of Christlike service.
You guys are the best and I love you dearly!"

These are the kinds of things that make life meaningful and wonderful. I love you Kim!

I started a new audio book today, "Otherwise Engaged" by Joanna Barker.

Dallin and his band have a new single and video called Lights. I listened to the song. I love Dallin's voice! I wish it was just him singing.

I watched a couple of Christmas movies today but they evidentally weren't that memorable:
"The Christmas Listing" - I actually do remember this one and James and I both liked it.
"Made to Order Christmas"
"Time for You to Come Home for Christmas"
