Jesus Christ, Light of the World
3 Nephi 18:16
And as I have prayed among you even so shall ye pray in my church, among my people who do repent and are baptized in my name. Behold I am the light; I have set an example for you.

Underlying President Nelson's invitation to repent is the principle of agency. We must choose repentance for ourselves. The gospel can't be forced into our hearts. As Elder Renlund said, "Our Heavenly Father's goal in parenting is not to have His children do what is right; it is to have His children choose to do what is right."

I listened to Inklings Institute today. It was Rio because Emily is in Nauvoo and has sketchy cell reception. This week we are studying Elder Cook's confernce talk about revelation and the Holy Ghost. Scripture study is Acts 2.

Anthony didn't make it for the fence building this morning. He did come by to show us his new horse trailer and left a business card.

Looks like the scary horse
I love Anthony. He is an interesting guy to know and to talk to. He just got his advanced Ham radio license and James says he stays up late into the night talking to people all over the world.

I like this quote from my book "Hear Him" A study guide to personal revelation:
"Most frequently, Revelation comes in small increments over time and is granted according to our desire, worthiness, and preparation." - David A. Bednar

I sent Ben a protection scripture, Isaiah 43:2-3: "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee."

I may have already mentioned her but I'm going to mention her again. I have a friend from Chandler. She was the Relief Society president in the Pleasant 1st ward when I was the stake Relief Society president. Her name is Karin Ford. She is married to Robin Ford who was my priesthood advisor for awhile when I served in the stake. They now live in St. George, Utah. Karin is writing her story on Facebook, one entry a day...or so. So far there are 24 entries. I just started yesterday and when I started up again today I was on entry 10. I finished through all 24 and look forward to the next. Karin's story is a story of triumph in overcoming adversity. She lost her first husband and two small children in a plane crash in 1982 and then in 2016 on the 4th of July she lost a son and a grandson. Out of four children she has lost three. She is an amazing person and I am so grateful I got to know her. I am anxious to learn how she and Robin met and married. Several people have told her, including myself, that she should write a book. I hope she does. I will be one of the first to buy it. Here are some quotes from two of her grandsons. The first Luke, is the brother of Max who was killed in the plane crash in 2016. Luke spoke at his brother's funeral. Here is his favorite quote:
"When life gives you 100 reasons to frown, give it 1,000 reasons to smile." - Luke Belnap
"Admire life while it lasts" - Max Belnap
Max said this just a few weeks before his passing. Max did not like to fly with his dad but his friend Ryan was with him and had never flown, so he went with his dad, as did Ryan, on that fatal fourth of July.

According to Karin's story Raduschka was a gypsy girl
and Karen loved her hair.

Luna is loose today and seems to be quite happy. At one point she came over and stood in front of the steps to the front porch. James put her mask on her to keep the flies away from her eyes. When he was finished, she walked away. As if to say, thanks, that's what I wanted.

Our ministering brother, Collin DeWitt called today to ask James if he needed any firewood. Jame said he had a whole hill full of firewood. What he needed now was someone to help him build a fence. Collin said he had family here this weekend but he would be over next week to help. I'm thinking of hiring someone to do our front planter and little patch of grass. I have a feeling this fence is going to take all summer to build. Thank you Collin!

Jesus Christ, Light of the World
3 Nephi 11:11
And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.

"Spiritually Defining Moments"
Elder Neil L. Andersen
How Do You Hear Him?
We hear Him in our prayers, in our homes, in the scriptures, in our hymns, as we worthily partake of the sacrament, as we declare our faith, as we serve others, and as we attend the temple with fellow believers. Spiritually defining moments come as we prayerfully listen to general conference and as we better keep the commandments.

As soon as Luna saw me this morning she whinnied and began pawing the ground with her left foot. She loves feedin' time.

This is the protection scripture I sent to Ben/Elder Trezise this morning via Facebook Messenger:

Isaiah 43:1
But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob (Ben), and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

I started my new "Hear Him" personal revelation book this week. There is something to do every day. Monday was Learn, Tuesday - Apply, and Wednesday - Act. Am I hearing Him everyday?

Kim's topic for this week is "Trust in the Lord." I listened to all of the talks and especially loved the one by Sister Steele, a BYU Speech: "Choose to Trust the Lord." Wow! I need to go back and study this one a little deeper.

I enjoyed reading about Moroni's Title of Liberty in Alma 46. In verse 12 it says: In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children - and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.

What a great way to teach Christian values to your children!

I spent over an hour today looking for my family history notes, notebook. I keep a running log whenever I work on family history or indexing. The reason I needed it was to find Jean Howard's username and password on Family Search. I receive her notices and if we want to look them up, I have to have her username and password. I finally gave up looking for my notebook and called one of the family history consultants in the ward who has helped Jean in the past and got the information from her. How do things just disappear around here? As James would say, it must be the Gremlin. Sometimes I wonder if he's the Gremlin.

James was home by 5 p.m. He did not bring burros from Burger House so I made chocolate chip cookies instead. I missed chocolate chip cookie day yesterday or I guess you could say I'm just celebrating a day late.

Stacy passed her esthetics exam! Yay! Now what is next?

One of my friends, Karin Ford, who I knew in Chandler, she was a Relief Society President when I was the stake Relief Society President is writing her life story on Facebook. I just started reading it and it is fascinating. She was born in Czechoslovakia in  1944 to a German mother and a Danish father during all of the horrors of WWII. She lived in Denmark before coming to America. In 1982 she lost her first husband and two small children under the age of 8 in a small airplane crash. In 2016 she lost a son and a grandson in a tragic small airplane crash on the 4th of July. Her faith in God during the tragedy's is what has helped her to survive. That and her husband Robin. Robin was my priesthood advisor for awhile when I was in the stake Relief Society presidency. Karin and Robin now live in St. George, Utah.

I finished my audio book, "Spirit" by David Butler and began a World War II book called, "The Enemy Between Us."

I am so grateful that James made it home safely. I did miss him.
