Child: "Is it hard to be a prophet? Are you, like, really busy?"
President Nelson: " Of course it's hard. Everything to do with becoming more like the Savior is difficult.
The Lord loves effort, because effort brings rewards that can't come without it."
Sister Jones: "President Nelson's response to these precious children extends to each one of us. The Lord loves effort, and effort brings rewards. We keep practicing. We are always progressing as long as we are striving to follow the Lord."

James left for the valley early this morning after family prayer and making himself and me some tea. I will miss him. He called to tell me when he arrived safely. He will be working on Mario's houses and will probably go out to Peoria to check on the job there. He will spend the night at Sheri's. On the way down he got stopped about 40 minutes near Superior because of construction.

I listened to Kris and Kathy this morning on the book webinar training. Kathy answered my question about how to turn off the In-Stock Head Start program to keep my books from going into stranded. Thanks Kathy!

As I was listening to Dave and Emily in "Don't Miss This" they issued this challenge: What is your cause? What is your cause until the end of 2020? What is your cause this month? What is your cause today? The challenge: What is my cause?

Also while listening to Dave and Emily I realized that the Book of Mormon in Alma 46:15 has a great definition of what a Christian is:
  A Christian:
1.) True believers of Christ
2.) Faithful to Christ
3.) Took upon them gladly, the name of Christ.

Who can dispute that definition of a Christian? And, it comes directly from the Book of Mormon.

I caught up on my blog today. The computer actually behaved quite well today. I also did a lot of gospel study. Kim sent out our study topic for the Lambson study group this week. It is, "Trust in the Lord." She also sent four talks for us to read and study. This is a great topic!

Although I fed Luna her three meals today I felt sorry for her because James was not here to ride her. So far I have not been brave enough to even attempt a ride. Maybe when James gets back.

No rain today, just sunshine and temperatures in the 80's.

Jesus Christ, Light of the World
Alma 38:9
And now, my son, I have told you this that ye may learn wisdom, that ye may learn of me that there is no other way or means whereby man can be saved, only in and through Christ. Behold, he is the life and the light of the world. Behold, he is the word of truth and righteousness.

Of course, where there is a law given, where we are not ignorant of the will of God, we are accountable. As King Benjamin emphasized: "Wo unto him who knoweth that he rebelleth against God! For salvation cometh to none such except it be through repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ."

Inklings
DC 68:6
Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord
am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record
of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God,
that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.

I started out this morning by listening to a talk Emily Belle Freeman gave at BYU-Idaho Education Week about studying scriptures. In this talk she talks about her protection scriptures which are scriptures she turns to when she needs comfort or peace. When she was pregnant with her fourth child she was put on bed rest for six months. She read the Book of Mormon in a short amount of time and decided because she had the time, to read all of the standard works. She said she began with this goal in mind: "That she would find scriptures that would help her in her life in that moment." In this talk she shared scripture from Ezra, Nehemiah, and Acts 8. It was very good. She even talked about the Feast of the Tabernacle and how she had a Feast of the Tabernacle celebration with her family as she set up a booth in her yard and covered it with sheets and on the sheets she hung scriptures. Each night the family would share a meal together and then would study the scriptures together. This is what was done during the Feast of the Tabernacle in Old Testament times. This was a great way for me to start the day.

James went out this morning to work on the fence. Kim and Brian got up and began cleaning and packing, getting ready to go home.
When I reminded Kim about taking a picture she said that all of their pictures look the same because she always wears the same shirt because it is her "travel shirt." I suggested that they sit in the rocking chairs instead of standing in front of the front door.

A great picture!

They are going back down to where the high today will probably
be at least 111. When they came up it was not supposed to rain so yesterday's rainstorm was a bonus! Kim and Brian love rains as much as I do!

After listening to Emily this morning talk about her scripture study I then listened to John Bytheway talk about the "war chapters" in the Book of Mormon since that is what we are studying this week and next week for "Come Follow Me." So good! I only got through about half of it but that was enough for today.

James went to town today while I stayed home and worked on my next book shipment. I want James to take it with him to the valley tomorrow to mail. I did get it ready which made me so happy. I also bought some books.

James let Luna out before he left for town. I went and checked on her once. She was in the front on the hill by the Crane's. When James got home he said he was going to have to go look for her. He happened to look outside the dining room window and saw she was back in her corral. I thought it was funny and James said, "Well that's her home."

While I was walking today I listened to David Butler's new book, "The Spirit." It is really good!

Charlie is so cute!

Shall We Not Go On In So Great a Cause?
President M. Russell Ballard
In the face of persecution, Hyrum exhibited faith in the Lord's promises, including a guarantee to escape his enemies if he so chose. In a blessing Hyrum received in 1835 under the hands of Joseph Smith, the Lord promised him: "Thou shalt have power to escape the hand of thine enemies. Thy life shall be sought with untiring zeal, but thou shalt escape If it please thee, and thou desirest, thou shalt have the power voluntarily to lay down thy life to glorify God."

Kim and Brian had a meeting this morning on Facebook Live. In this meeting they got a new bishop. Their new bishop will be Neal Tarwater. The Tarwater family members are long-time residence of Chandler. Neal's mother Danelle was the president of the school board. I am friends with Neal's sister Debbie. I knew her in Chandler and now she lives in Shumway and works at the temple with us. Her name is Debbie Vance. She is married to another one of my friends, brother, Jim Vance, Dianne Layton's brother.  It's a small world in the Church here in Arizona.

At 10:30 we had home church with Kim and Brian. James conducted. For the opening song we sang, "Scatter Sunshine" and Kim gave the opening prayer. For the sacrament hymn we sang, "Tis Sweet to Sing the Matchless Love." Brian and James blessed and administered the sacrament. After the sacrament we discussed this week's "Come Follow Me" lesson.
Alma 39-42 "The Great Plan of Happiness"
Alma 39
Sexual sin is an abomination in the sight of the Lord.
Alma 40-41
I will be resurrected and stand before God to be judged.
Alma 40
I can seek answers to my gospel questions in faith.
Alma 42
The Atonement of Jesus Christ makes the plan of redemption possible.

After our discussion we all sat down and watched Brother Yarn's BYU speech which was about 40 minutes long. It was good and we all enjoyed Brother Yarn's southern accent.

I also watched Elder Oaks's talk from 1998.

Kim had asked the family if they would include Joseph in their fast today. James and I did this and most everyone else on our family phone group said they would fast for him too.

Before they came up Kim and I planned on the four of us eating Sunday dinner together. We are having steaks, they buying theirs, and we buying ours. James said he has a hard time eating meat and asked if he could have beans. I bought a 2 lb. bag of beans at the store on Friday. I soaked them for 8 hours yesterday and then cooked them in crockpot for over 8 hours last night. This morning I took them out of the crockpot and put them in the refrigerator to marinate for 8 hours. They didn't marinate for 8 hours but they were still delicious and made James happy. Brian made sweet potatoes. I though he would just bake sweet potatoes in the oven but he made sweet potatoes like we have at Thanksgiving. They were delicious! I also made asparagus and corn muffins. I need to remember that Kim needs food that is gluten-free. Kim said her steak, a filet, just melted in her mouth. Our steaks were ribeye's bought from Walmart and they were a little tough but had a good flavor. It was a delicious dinner!

Kim and I did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen and then it was rest time. Kim is doing a hot air balloon puzzle. I guess she was inspired by the movie last night.

An Eric Dowdle puzzle. Eric's brother Jared and his
family are friends of ours from Chandler.

During our FaceTime with Jared's family we went outside on the porch because it was raining. We also wanted to watch the hummingbirds at the two feeder's James put up. It is in the 60's and this rain was totally unexpected and so appreciated! Kim and Brian are coming for Thanksgiving and Jared said they will either come for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Jared started our Lambson Family Discussion group on Zoom. James, Kim, Brian, Sheri, Jared, Kacey, Charlie and myself attended. Stacy let us know she wouldn't be here but had studied the talks. She said this about "You Love, He Saves":
"Ok, that was really, really good. I really need to change my attitude about my kids and love them unconditionally."

Autumn graduated from BYU-Idaho with a degree in Family Relations. Congratulations Autumn!!
