"The scriptures speak of the role of parents - that it is their duty to teach their children "the doctrine of repentance, faith in Christ the Son of the living God, and of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost." (D&C 68:25)
-Tad R. Callister

We had a big breakfast with Darrel this morning before he went to work.  Potatoes, eggs, ham, onions and green chilies were all a part of this big breakfast.

Robert Kadelak worked several hours on James's truck today.  He is having difficulty getting to the fuel pump.  He says he needs a tool and will be back tomorrow to finish.  James told him he doesn't want him to work on Sunday but the guy is determined

Here are some of the things I did today: Waxed the floor, read to James, worked on my Book of Mormon journal, paid bills, posted on my blog and made dinner.
Stacy called and wants to come to the cabin for a couple of days after Christmas to see Jared and have Joshua play in the snow.  Maybe we should pray for snow.
Our current Sarah Eden read.
She really is tutu cute!
We watched a couple of movies this evening: One of my favorites, "Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade" and a new one "A Royal Christmas."
I couldn't resist posting this:

The Lord told Joseph Smith of his destiny: "The ends of the earth shall inquire after thy name, and fools shall have thee in derision, and hell shall rage against thee; While the pure in heart, the wise,...and the virtuous, shall seek...blessings constantly from under thy hand."  Why does the Lord allow the evil speaking to chase after the good?  One reason is that opposition against the things of God sens seekers of truth to their knees for answers.
-Elder Neil L. Andersen

We returned James's rental car to Hatch's this morning at 8am and drove on to the valley.  We went the Globe way.  It is a little shorter and I am getting used to it.
We were at the house in Chandler by 11:30am.  I work on my Book of Mormon journal while I wait for James to get back from the job at the airport.  I tried to get Stacy to go shopping with me but she wouldn't come out of the bedroom.
James and I took Alex and Adam to Jersey Mike's for lunch.  They were out painting our fence when we were leaving.  After lunch I went shopping at the Bath & Body at the San Tan mall.  I bought several antibiotic hand cleansers for $1 to put in the Young Women's Christmas bags.
 So cute!
Afterwards I went to Frost and got a sea salt carmel and peanut butter crunch.  Yummy!
Next stop, Deseret Book for Christmas Dragon DVD, Food Nanny cookbook, and two Thanksgiving plaques.  Costco is just next door where I got some blankets and gas.  Back home and ready for the 4pm temple session.
On our way in we saw Robyn Rogers, Adrienne Ellsworth, the Boles', and the Dowdles' and the Lewis' from the Galveston 3rd ward.  They were there for a wedding.
Edonna and Crista were already in the chapel and Edonna was so surprised to see us.  It was a wonderful session and we were so happy for Edonna.  She and her daughter Serah are moving to Connecticut on December 5th so this is probably the last time we will see her.  Thanks to Crista!
Edonna on the right.
I love this picture of James carrying our bags into the temple.
It speaks volumes to me!
Before leaving for home I did a little shopping at Sam's Club and got some more blankets, I give one to each of the grandkids for Christmas.  On the trip home I read to James from "Friend or Foe".  We arrive home around 10:30, just before Darrel.

Exciting news for the Chandler football team.  They beat Mt. Pointe 43-22 in the semifinals and will play for the state championship next week against their arch rivals, Hamilton.

Fire in the sky

"As I have loved you, love one another."
(John 15:12, 17)

I love this picture of President Monson!

Today I worked on my blog and emailed a letter to the kids from James.  I also went visiting teaching to: Mary, Joyce, and Julie, along with my partner Randa Covert.  My handouts:
Glass jars filled with candy went along with
Elder Bednar's talk: "Come and See."

I made a trip to Walmart and got a space heater for Darrel's room because he woke up this morning and said he was cold.

Today was Throwback Thursday on Facebook.
Ian as dracula at our Lambson Haunted House
in the basement.
Jared, Ryan, Cheryl and Kim at a family gathering.

Darrel, Rowan and a few of Rowan's friends went fishing with Alex at Power Ranch the other day.  Rowan caught this fish.
Darrel said Alex was awesome and helped
all of the boys with their fishing.

James made it home this evening which always makes me happy! Somewhere today I found time to watch these Christmas movies: "Cookie Cutter Christmas", "Window Wonderland", and "All I Want for Christmas."

I love these sunrises!

"The Everlasting and Almighty God, the Creator of this vast universe, will speak to those who approach Him with a sincere heart and real intent.  He will speak to them in dreams, visions, thoughts, and feelings.  He will speak in a way that is unmistakable and that transcends human experience.  He will give them divine direction and answers for their personal lives."
-President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

This evening we held our Young Women in Excellence program,  which recognizes the accomplishments of the young women throughout the year as they work on their Personal Progress goals.

We as leaders went down to the church this morning to setup for tonight's program.  Diana Curtis, Analee Hunsaker, Stefani Hunsaker, Amy Reynolds and her granddaughter Marley, and I did the setting up.  I am feeling "achy", but I took some aspirin and went on my way.  I took the 5 cheesecakes and put them in the refrigerator.

I got home around lunch time and watched a Christmas movie, "A Holiday Engagement."
Chuck Crane and Robert Kadelak came over to look at James's truck.  They got it started which is more than we could do, but determined that it needs a new fuel pump.
James orders one through Erik and will bring it home tomorrow.

This afternoon I prepared a brief message for tonight's meeting.  I am being recognized for receiving my Young Women's medallion and Diana wants me to tell what I learned by working on Personal Progress.

Erik and Amelia Lambson's baby girl Tabitha Rose.

"It is the Lord's plan and His will that we have the principal decision-making role in our own life's drama."
-Elder D. Todd Christofferson

The low was around 10 degrees this morning.
Mitt Romney spoke at BYU today and President Henry B. Eyring spoke at the Vatican at a marriage conference put on by Pope Francis and the catholic church.

I took James into town and he rented a car at Hatch Toyota.  He is paying twice as much for a car rented here as he does when he rents one in the valley.  We say goodbye and I go shopping at Walmart.  It is cold!  On the way home I got a breakfast burrito with potatoes at Aliberto's.
James and I hate being separated from each other.  Starting in January we will be together again, working to get our house ready to sell.  We will be staying in Chandler until we sell our house.  We will have our memberships moved to the Galveston 3rd ward.  We are sad to leave our Vernon family but will look forward to spending time with family and friends in the valley.

Crista Moreno posted this picture on Facebook today.  The two sisters on the left are Sheri Day and Susan Barker.  The sister on the left is a dear friend, Edonna Wells.  James was Edonna's home teacher and did lots of work on her house.  I "liked" the picture and Crista messaged me and told me that Edonna was going to the temple for the first time in many years and she expressed a desire that James and I be there.  The date was set, Friday, November 21 at 4pm and we committed to be there.

Christmas movie: "Naughty or Nice".

I fixed dinner for Darrel but he was a no-show.  I never know what his schedule is anymore.

The sunrise today was at 6:52 and the sunset at 5:13.  It was ten degrees this morning, but the sun was shining.

Chandler is the #1 school district in the state of Arizona.  Way to go Chandler!
James wanted to go to town to get the fireplace insert we bought but his truck wouldn't start and it won't fit in the car.
We took the car to town and had lunch at Sonic.  We also went to Chase bank and donated $40 for the community fast.
James is struggling to know what to do about his truck.  We read from "Friend or Foe" and watched a Christmas movie, "Angels and Ornaments", which we loved.  It was one of our favorites so far!

We made an important decision today.  We decided that in January we are moving back to Chandler to work on the house to get it ready to sell.  Our goal is to be back up here within six months.  We will probably have our membership moved down there so we can have callings while we are there.

Phoenix, Arizona temple
"There is sometimes a wide difference - a gulf of understanding between the way we experience the Church from the inside and the way others look at it from the outside.  This is the principal reason we hold open houses for temples before each dedication is taken care of.  The member volunteers at the temple open houses are simply trying to help others see the Church as they see it from the inside.  They recognize the Church is a marvelous work, even a wonder, and they want others to know it too.  I ask you to do the same."
-Elder L. Tom Perry

We had lots of rain and wind last night and some snow this morning.  I had to bring the chairs in off the front porch because they were wet and the wind had turned one of them over.  The low this morning was 22 and the high today is expected to be 36.
 Pictures I took before church.

On the way home from church.
Snow on Mt. Mentosa

James was at the church all day long, for all three sessions of the dedication.  He took the burros we bought yesterday, and the giant apples and brownies that I made and punch that he made and shared with Brother McArthur, President VanWinkle, and Bishop Miller.  President VanWinkle is from Globe and especially enjoyed the burros.
I was home alone.  I worked on my Book of Mormon notes, had lunch and took a note, and made visiting teaching appointments.  I also watched a Christmas movie I had seen before, but it's one of my favorites: "Finding Christmas."
James was home around 5:30.  He ate and then left again to go home teaching to the Wilhelm's.  We he got home we watched a new Christmas movie starring Harry Connick, Jr. called "Angels Sing."
